Jillian's Ratings and Reviews
I had lobster bisque and the full lobster salad. I’m from Boston originally, I know lobster. This was over cooked, tough and salad underneath was drenched in dressing. Lobster bisque was warm not hot. Disappointing since I was taking my girfriend for her birthday.
This was our first time at Jillian’s & we had very high expectations. Unfortunately the restaurant did not live up to the hype. Roman, our waiter, was less than attentive. The food was very average for the price. And they seated a large family next to us with a crying child & very large dog that kept coming over to our table! Very disappointing evening when we were there to celebrate a birthday.
WE celebrated our anniversary and husbands birthday. Our grand-daughter joined us in the festivities for the night. Every detail was covered and a cakee was made especially for the occasion. Service professionally executed a rare find these days. Piano was particularly enjoyable--- background music--- terrific tunes all evening. We enjoyed every minute -- and will be in our memories for a long time. Thank-you, Jillian's/ Palm Desert. Contessa Claire P
My husband struggled over the pricey lamb chops, which he ordered, and his rare temperature came out almost well done. He didn’t send them back, but decided never to return. The veggies were good, the room is beautiful, but his disappointment with his meat spoiled my birthday dinner. His feeling is that if you charge really high prices, then the food should be exceptional not just average.
My second time enjoying Jillian's. My partner and I both had salads to start... he had the Casa Salad and I had a special that was a lobster salad with a vinaigrette. We both agreed that the vinaigrettes on both salads were very bland...needed more acidity. Rather than waiting to ask the waiter to bring us some vinegar, we pulled the limes out of our drinking water and gave our salads a bit of a squeeze of lime juice. Bam! The salads tasted so much better.
We both loved our main meals... He had rack of lamb... perfectly cooked and beautifully seasoned. I had a special.. a osso bucco made of lamb. Delicious!
We had no room for dessert, although we were so temped.
I was disappointed that the men's room was so in need to improvement. Not so much in the room itself, but in appointments. It is VERY dark in there, being illuminated only by a single table lamp sitting on the sink counter. No tissues. No hand towels except for a dispenser on the wall. The door on the stall doesn't lock properly. I would expect a fine dining restaurant, particularly one at this price point, would make sure the restrooms match the level of service received in the dining rooms.
Our waiter was excellent. He was the only highlight of the evening. The staff in the dining room were all very polite, engaging and professional. However, The two women when we checked in were rude and engaged in their own conversation with one another and over some problem? Not the best welcome the Restaurant could present. The restaurant was not very busy so that was surprising as it used to be very popular? The food was so so. The scallops used to be to die for. Salads were nothing spectacular. Kind of an okay dinner so a bit disappointing since it was a birthday.
We go to this restaurant 5 times during our season. We made a reservation 2 weeks in advance and told them we were celebrating a birthday and 5th wedding anniversary. When we arrived we were seated in a side room in the back corner. We expected the main dining room that was nicely decorated and featured music. When we arrived we were not informed that a friend had bought us a bottle of wine. It took the waiter over 20 minutes to inform us. We would have just had the wine and not the cocktails we had ordered. It was over 30 minutes before the waiter brought us menus. We expected exceptional service but were disappointed all night. Thankfully the food was as good as we expected. If this would have been our first visit to this restaurant we probably would not return based on this experience.
We are from Tulsa but visit the Palm Desert / Indian Wells several times a year. We NEVER miss a date night at Jillian’s each time we are in town. Everything from top to bottom is excellent but we especially love the crab tower, the Spicy corn chowder, the pork chop and the top two desserts of all time are the decadent date and the apple dumpling. Wine list is phenomenal and the service is top notch. I couldn’t decide which soup to get so they brought me the other as a sample after at no charge. My pork chop was a little undercooked and I had to sent it back. They quickly made it right and took my dresser off the bill. If you are in the area and don’t go here you are really missing out!!!!
Always love Jillian’s! Was a little taken back that they had relaxed their dress code for men but I guess you need to do what needs to happen to keep up with a new clientele and economy. Our server Ramon was, as always, the best. And Jorge had our car waiting before we exited the building
we have dined at Jullians for years. this was our first visit 2017. although in the past would have rated it 5 stars for every thing, but this year we both had the crab tower and white fish
we have been enjoying all those years. we both commented something was off. neither entree tasted the same.......was not as good.....new cook in the kitchen???.....cutting back somewhere???....do not know. my husbands favorite decadent date desert also did not seem to be as tasty and for the first time I had what was described as flaky pastry apple dumpling. however, there was nothing flaky......it was so hard could not cut thru it with a fork/knife......quite surprised and the rest was not very good, so after a few bites was not interested. i hope whatever might have changed will just be temporary and the dishes we have enjoyed for a decade will return. the place itself is wonderful in many ways.
Waiters were very attentive and even changed my napkin to a black one since I was wearing black pants. Food portions were large. Food was very good. The room we were in had a bit of a funky smell which was a turn off. They gave us a complimentary dish of small cookies, dates and such which was a nice touch.
This was a great dining choice for my wife's birthday. I asked for a romantic table and got one in a corner - apparently Gerald Ford used to sit there. The food was excellent, but not on par with the best of French restaurants - but the best I found in the desert. Service was also very good and not presumptuous. Great wine selection.
