Went with family on Sunday. It was very quiet — possibly due to bad weather. The two other times I’ve been here it’s been busy and happening. Always great atmosphere. Our server was great and very polite and accommodating. My parents ordered the seafood linguini. They thought it was overall pretty good — lots of shrimp and crab, but noodles were too soft. My husband and I ordered salads and the short ribs. The salads (spinach and the mixed green) were great; the short ribs dish was very tasty but the meat was on the dry side. They have great wine specials but we stuck to iced tea that night. Value was pretty good. They had a Sunday prix-fix. Appetizer, main and dessert for $34.95 and you get really good portions. Would recommend and return again.
Had a 7:30 reservation. Hostess got us confused with another party and brought us into private party. Hostess was confused. Then showed us to a table in main dining room by the kitchen. Waitress came over a few times to take our order. Seemed like she was In rush to place our order. Our appetizer came out in 3 minutes along with wine. Busboy kept waiting and looking to see when we were finished. I finished my appetizer before my husband and he was right there to take my plate away even though my husband was still eating. I find this annoying . Our entree was served 5 minutes later. Food was very good, but again the busboy couldn’t wait to take our plates away. He practically took my husbands plate away while he was finishing his dinner. I’ve never felt so rushed. Then waitress was over to take dessert order. That to came out in 3 minutes. No one asked us if we wanted more coffee and tea. Check was given to us and we were paying the bill by 8:40. What a rushed dinner. Very commercial. You should take some pointers from Lumani in Roslyn. That’s service!
The food was very good e the Service perfect The waitress was very attentive we really like e will be go back soon
JEWEL is a jewel! It was an absolute great find. I needed a nice place to meet an old friend that I hadn’t seen or spoken to in over 25 years. This was a very special occasion. We were seated in a very large, comfortable and elegant booth. We each ordered a delicious salad and some wine and proceeded to catch up on all the things we missed over the past 25 years. The service was great and the staff was excellent! Our waitress was exceptional. Unfortunately, we were so engrossed with each other that we never got her name. This restaurant was so wonderful on so many levels. Not once did we feel rushed or put upon to leave. We definitely did overstay our welcome but as I stated, we were never made to feel unwelcome. As we were getting ready to leave, the overflow from the bar was making its way to the outdoor patio, due to the gorgeous weather. I will be back for drinks outside.
I will be telling everyone that I know about this very special find. Thank you to everyone at JEWEL!
This was an absolutely wonderful meal. Even though it was April, this was part of my Mother's Christmas present. Well, it was a gift to my husband and I too. We did the Sunday dinner prix fixe. A great bargain, between delicious salads, wonderful strip steak and linguine with crabmeat and shrimp, and decadent desserts, you can not go wrong. I can't wait to go again. Jewel really is a jewel.
Excellent food and service!!
I've been wanting to check out this restaurant for a few years - Well worth the wait! Food was delicious, service wonderful, and ambiance lovely - GREAT for date night or a special gathering with people who enjoy good food.
The food was amazing, mushroom tortellini was delicious and the chocolate cake fantastic. This was a very enjoyable business lunch with excellent service
Courteous service all around. As I normally experience at Jewel
This is truly a special occasion restaurant! The service is impeccable, the food is great and they know how to make a cocktail. For my lovers birthday it was perfect!!
The food and service was exceptional. Great atmosphere.
My significant other and I have been meaning to try Jewel for a while. I’ve heard a lot of positive feedback from friends and colleagues and overall our own experience was favorable. We started with the Basil bar pizza as appetizer which was thin crust and served burnt. I chose the lobster with risotto and while it was absolutely delicious, it was missing some of the ingredients listed on the menu. My boyfriend ordered the Skirt Steak and thought it was outstanding. For dessert we ordered the flourless chocolate espresso cake which was unbelievably delish!
The bill for our dinner and cocktails was approximately $200 ... I thought this was reasonable but at that price point, I would have hoped for fewer children running around.
There were several large families dining around us. As such, there were small children chasing one another around the dining area which was annoying to say the least. I’m open to returning to jewel, however, i will likely remember to ask to be seated away from a high traffic area away from large parties.
Sunday Price Fixed Menu! Good food. Good service. Close to home for us.
Birthday celebration! Always top notch go to restaurant for a special occasion!
As always, Tom Schaudel never disappoints! Food was amazing, great drink specials, staff was more than accommodating and friendly!
Fun restaurant, good food and the service was great.
Herman was very hospitable. Look forward to returning.
food is very good, portions are very small for the prices. ordered a salad for $14 and it was barely enough for one person. if they gave a bit more food/drink for the money it would be much more desirable. nice atmosphere though.
Christina is a polished, professional Server. She makes great recommendations. Food as always, is delicious. My favorite place to eat great, consistent, fabulous food.
if you have never been to jewel you owe it to yourself to try it. not as well known as blackstone or prime or h20 but definitely worth a visit. The place is beautiful inside and out. outside patio/tables/lighting, great for happy hour to meet up. inside is a huge bar area for meeting up and then dining area with really high ceilings, nice decor. the food is top notch.
I like the fact that be-jew is part of it, so you can get sushi for appetizers and a regular meal for the dinner or mix it up. sushi is excellent, service is excellent, definitely you will be happy you tried this place out.
Never got to eat. Showed up 15 minutes early for our reservation. An hour and fifteen minutes later, managers said they had no idea when tables will open up. There were a lot of people who had earlier and later reservations then us who were in the same situation.
I’ve been to Jewel a few times. The food is always good, well prepared. My problem last night was being made to wait almost an hour past my reservation before being seated. The whole point of making a reservation is not having to wait. If I wanted to wait that long I could have gone to Olive Garden.
Never disappoints. Great service and food. One our favorite restaurants.
Beautiful atmosphere, great service and fabulous food! Tom Schaudel is also a very nice and charismatic guy. He was at the bar when we were leaving and we stopped to chat. We will be back again!
While the waitress was very attentive. The food came out too fast. This is not fast food and I don't expect appetizers to come out less than 5 minutes after being ordered. The food itself was tasty but as an experience I do not want to drop 150 for dinner and be rushed.
Every dish that came out was exceptional. Even my cocktail was fantastic.
We had a 8pm reservation - arrived at 7.15 to have a drink at the bar. It took 20 minutes to gat our drinks. We had to remind the hostess twice after 8 that we were ready to sit down. We did not sit down til 8.45!
The menu lists This and That as titles. We three all ordered an item from This.
It was a lump crab salad with avocado and a mango sauce, for $18. The server did not explain that "This" meant appetizers.
The lump crab salad had the consistency of tuna salad. None of us could find lump crab in our portions. After we ate it, we were still hungry. We ordered spinach salad.
Our total for the crab appetizer and spinach salad was $31. There is a prix fixe lunch for $24 that offered three courses. We wish that our server had given us more information as we ordered.
While the food was tasty, we were not satisfied with our lunch experience.
Should we return in the future, we would be sure to order from the prix fixe menu.
Great experience, food was amazing, we can't wait to go back!
Excellent Food, service and atmosphere. Best seafood around and very creative desserts.
Thought the place was very nice food was great but the portions could have been bigger and didn't care for the five hostesses just standing their talking while waiting for one of them to acknowledge us to seat us down same thing when trying to get our coats had a 5:30 reservation and was not busy
Valentine’s Day dinner
This was our first time at Jewel---Valentine's Day. The food was delicious, whether it was the filet mignon, shrimp, risotto or the strawberry shortcake dessert(more please!). Our waiter did a fine job. Leaving a rose on the table for the ladies was a nice idea. One suggestion-don't place dinner tables right next to the half-wall next to the bar. Patrons put their drinks on top of it and talk. We were seated there and asked to be moved and were accommodated.
I went for Valentine’s Day. The ambiance was great and they gave us a rose and chocolate, which was cute. It is pricey and the menu is small, but overall it was a good experience!
Although the Food at Jewel is wonderful, our Valentine's Day experience there was not. We thought of the food when we made a repeat visit to Jewel, having had Valentine's dinner there last year. What we didn't remember was their disorganization which we recalled as we sat there waiting for our server to appear. We were there before 6 and the room was still half empty. Ironically we were seated at a table in a similar location as last time, evidently a service no man's land. Last year I never received the cocktail I had ordered. This time we did receive our drink order, but my husband, who cannot tolerate caffeine, ordered an herbal peppermint tea and received a caffeinated green tea with mint. Fortunately he noticed that before drinking it! This was after sitting there for over half an hour, not seeing a server, asking twice to no avail, and finally catching the eye of the hostess and telling her of our plight. When the server finally arrived she explained that because extra tables had been added to the room we wound up being between stations! We had seen several servers glance at us as we sat unattended, but no one had bothered to inquire if we had been taken care of. While we were waiting to order, waiters brought to our table, first the entrees of the table to our left and then the dessert of the table to our right! When we spoke to the manager he said the numbers in the kitchen were scrambled, also because of the extra tables. He apologised and our food came in a reasonable amount of time after we finally ordered, although a salad that was supposed to have roasted hazelnuts had pistachios instead, the rack of lamb was the smallest I have ever seen, and a sushi roll I ordered to take home was missing the cucumber that was a listed ingredient. Neither the nut substitution or the missing ingredient were mentioned to us when ordering. In addition to an apology do you think the manager should have comped us a drink or dessert? It didn't happen.
I wasn’t a fan of the changes to the lobster risotto for Valentine’s Day. The lobster lacked flavor and the corn in the rice didn’t fit.
Food was delicious and nice atmosphere
$24 lunch was a good value. Great breads, good salad, decadent dessert and good coffee. Those who had the burgers loved them. I had the pork loin which came with a ring of skin and fat. I thoroughly enjoyed it but it may not appeal to all. Wait staff were friendly and helpful. Great overall experience and will be going back.
