Food was delicious! I would definitely recommend. I got the chicken parm with the spinach fettuccine. It was the fan favorite at our table. My mom liked the cod but she thought the glaze was too strong.
Great night out with hubby & food was super delicious!
Our waitress was snippy until it was time to settle and right before tipping. Her initial attitude set a negative tone for our exchanges. I asked for sautéed onions on the hamburger and was assured it was what they generally did, but raw onion appeared on the plate. The food was generally mediocre, except for our dessert of chocolate mousse, which was delicious and the best part of the meal. I tipped 20%, because it is what I usually do, and afterward I though it a mistake, because I didn’t sent an appropriate message. This is the first negative restaurant review I have ever written, but I thought it was the right thing to do. I hope the management reads this and trains the waitstaff to better represent this attractive restaurant.
This was an amazing experience, the food was prepared with such presentation and flavor, the options made it easy for everyone to have what they liked. The hostess took extra special care and seated us in the back so that we had a quiet space and could finish our meeting and then move on to a holiday dinner. The service was expert, we finished a full bottle of wine and I never saw it being poured....changing from apetizers to entrees was seemless, the dinner plates floated to the table. The price was very fair, we could not fit dessert, but five people finished their plates at the cost for two at the Palm....you really cannot go wrong with this beautiful environment.
Excellent food and impeccable service! I will be back again and again!
Food was delicious and very attentive service. We will come back often.
Entrees: we shared the Short Ribs and the Skirt Steak. Both delicious
Dessert: the Snickers Cake was amazing! More like a peanut butter/chocolate pie
Wine: I thought the Red blend on tap was just OK. Just not my style, necessarily. My wife had the Riesling and enjoyed it.
Service: Don't remember the name of our waiter, but he was excellent knowledgeable and patient when answering our questions. (He was working the "elevated" section on 12/8)
The menu is eclectic including very good Japanese Sushi and Sashimi, fish, steak, pasta and poultry.
A very lively atmosphere with strong bar scene and modern decor.
Service was prompt and courteous. Pricing is city moderate and matches the quality and ambiance.
Have patronized for both lunch and dinner and never had a less than very good meal and experience.
Everything was outstanding we would love to dine there again
Great food, great service. The beet salad with goat cheese was just right and the white wine recommended by our waitress was superb. The main which was the crusted cod fish with horseradish was one of the best fish dishes I have had in a long time. the chocolate cake dessert was excellent.
Jewel is consistently great!!
Was disappointed....food was just okay. My dish was not good....squid ink pasta was mushy instead of al dente and sauce was watery and bland. On the other hand salmon was good as was octopus appetizer.
Thanksgiving dinner was memorable! Food was fantastic and service wonderful! Will be back!!!!
Best maitre d Nelson
Best bartender Tom
Always a fun place
Great for happy hour
Love this restau
We know Tom personally. Always consistantly good food and service.
Had a wonderful time for Thanksgiving dinner! The food was amazing! Everything was delicious!
YUM YUM AND MORE YUM! The End....if you're looking for a consistently good place to enjoy your meal...this would be it! Last night I had the steak special, we ordered rare to med rare, it came out medium ...they were apologetic and quickly returned with a steak cooked the way we had ordered. I've had almost everything and nothing disappoints!
Excellent restaurant. Beautiful atmosphere. We also had great service.
Great food, service, and ambience will definitely go back again.
We got the ribeye and tuna. The food was very good. We weren’t satisfied with the apple pie dessert.
Jewel is popular for Happy Hour drinks and bar bites - passed around appetizers. Unfortunately, the bar crowd is quite boisterous and you expect a tough time if you are looking for a quiet conversation - or getting served without pushing in to the bar. So much for a quiet, special evening with drinks at the bar and dinner at a nice table.
While there are a few elevated tables in the bar area, drink service is not provided unless you are ordering food as well.
As to the dinning experience, service is slow, but the food remains a hit. The farm to table concept is very good; very nice menu with good variety - I suggest you check the menu on line to make sure any specialties that you are looking for are available before you go.
While Jewel was once one of our favorite restaurants, the current version left us quite disappointed. We went to celebrate my wife's birthday and the lack of valet service, the noisy bar with poor service, the slow wait staff and kitchen were just unacceptable for a special occasion. Then, to top it all off, the waitress said there was no longer any recognition of birthdays except a small cordial. WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO BIRTHDAY CANDLES? Stick a candle in a cupcake or scoop of ice cream to acknowledge the event - and no singing, please.
Outstanding meal. Service was good but server could have been more knowledgeable about the menu and wines. Food was exceptional. Best short ribs I’ve ever had. I will definitely be back.
Restaurant week menu and choice of food beyond compare. Was there on my anniversary and treated especially well and served extra dessert with candlestick. Great atmosphere. excellent waitstaff with attentive service. Two couples at table did not drink and there was no pressure to make us feel uncomfortable, and they kept filling our water g lasses without asking. We live in Port Jefferson a ride to Huntington, but his is a restaurant where everything is beautiful and we will recommend Jewel to all our friends and neighbors.
As always the food and value lead that way at the Jewel.
This is a beautiful restaurant, but the snooty attitude at the host desk coupled with their trying to seat any table of two at the worst possible tables made me never want to dine here again. Plus the short ribs were tasteless and dry. During the entire meal, they kept trying to seat unsuspecting pairs at at a table that was in the line of the front door, making them freezing cold. I watched pair after pair sit down and then get up and ask to be moved. They clearly don't care about their customers.
Jewel is indeed a jewel in Suffolk County. The ambiance is terrific, great crowd, lots of seating areas, with a terrific bar and delicious menu. Servers are knowledgeable and helpful. Manager Nelson insures you will enjoy your visit. Restaurant Week menu was varied and delicious and a great value. It’s great to see Chef Tom Schaudel in the open kitchen.
Our food was really outstanding. The restaurant was beautiful with a great ambiance. Our waitress was so cold and unhappy. She did not answer verbally when we requested cream for coffee, she just grunted. She was slow. We would have had more drinks but they took forever. She never once smiled or told us her name. She was really unhappy and it was pretty awkward. However, the nice man that brought us bread was a delight.
Our first impression walking into the restaurant was a hostess to take a minute or two to acknowledge that we were standing there. A simple "Hello. I'll be with you in a moment" would suffice. After that we had an amazing experience. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. The mussels appetizer was so good as well as the flourless chocolate espresso cake.
Food was delicious, as always, and beautifully presented.
Loved dining at Jewel during restaurant week. Service was more hurried than usual, but still excellent. Delicious meal from start to finish in a beautiful ambience. Loved the live music.
Every time my experience has been outstanding!!
First time at this restaurant, and immediately my girlfriend and I were captivated by the beautiful atmosphere. However it was busy, and the staff tried to stay calm and collected, however it was notable that they were under stress with turning over tables. Few overheard conversations were perhaps unprofessional, however once everything got back on track, our experience was overall impressive, and we will definitely be returning for another fine dinner. Presentation and overall food experience was swift and impressive.
It is restaurant week and my husband’s birthday so we decided to try Jewel. We had a great dinner! I had eaten there earlier in the week with some friends and knew my husband would love it. So twice in one week!
Tom Schaudel’s food is almost always over the top wonderful. This night was no exception. It was a Thursday night of restaurant week. There was a big selection of both appetizers and entrees. The mussels ,the veal and shrimp meatballs.the pork Osso buco and the tuna were all perfectly cooked.Dessert was delicious. Most outstanding was the service provided by Patrick and Amy under extremely difficult circumstances. There was a private party of maybe 60 or more people going on in the rear of the restaurant. They were the only servers for the party..We were a table for two in the dining room and Amy and Patrick were our servers. They made us feel like we were there only table. They were caring, concerned, attentive throughout our meal.Quite frankly I don’t know how they were able to do that except that they are real professionals.
Overall the evening was an outstanding dining experience. We certainly will go back to Jewel and tell others about the restaurant.
Kudos to all
Restaurant menu was great value and delicious.
Excellent, as always! The Restaurant week menu was spot on!
Restaurant week and our first time there so not sure this was the best time to review
This is a very modern restaurant. The service was top notch. From the bartender to the waitstaff. We were there for restaurants week, so my comments on the food are from a limited menu. While, every dish matched the descriptions, I found the main dishes a little underwhelming. Having said that, the apps and the deserts hit the spot
We were there for restaurant week celebrating a birthday and everything was great! The espresso chocolate cake was my favorite part!
The restaurant is beautiful. I asked for a candle in dessert for my daughter. -- no candle
It was her 28th birthday.
