Great service and food in a charming setting.
I start by saying that I've never had a meal I didn't absolutely love at Jewel. Jewel is unquestionably one of the finest dining opportunities on Long Island. Regrettably Jewel books events/parties during normal dining hours. While most times this would NOT be an issue because most humans know how to behave in public and are sensitive to their surroundings: on my most recent visit that was not the case. A large group of men celebrating a "bosses birthday" became an unruly mob. After repeated requests to Staff and subsequently to Management were made to try to control the mob, the reply was "that isn't gonna happen". No protection from this virulent behavior was made by Staff or Management, all either did was apologize to victimized diners. For this reason Jewel is CHOPPED.
All hands down, it was excellent which we knew it would be. The Sunday Prix-fixe Menu was totally awesome. Every selection we had was delicious! Our server was a delight and attentive as the restaurant started to fill up. Had our 40th Anniversary party there 6 years ago and was totally pleased even then. We even meet Tom to thank him. Will be back!
Great service with great food. The ambience was top notch
Everything was just okay. Felt a little rushed through dinner. Hadn’t been at the restaurant in a year or so and won’t be hurrying back. I like to take my time enjoying a drink and slowly enjoying a meal but this wasn’t the case.
Excellent dinner with my wife.
Disappointed in kids meal selection and the overall experience. We’ve been a few times over the years. Probably won’t come back. Sorry.
We took a 10 month hiatus from Jewel after a bad experience with the manager and now can say we will never return. Service was terrible- took 15 minutes for someone to come over.— and the person who did was not our server but an adjacent server that felt bad that we were being ignored. Once our waitress did come she was inattentive once she finally took our order— never filled wine or water glasses, didn’t check in after food came to see if all was ok. The manager, Nelson, does not circulate but rather chatted with and doted on one particular customer. Food was fair, not great. Plenty of other places out there that are better for food and service.
Terrible service. We were ignored.
I was looking for somewhere to eat great food with the ladies without the drive to Manhattan..
Specials were great!!
Enjoyable evening start to finish!!
my wife and I went to Jewel to celebrate our 51s anniversary,,Mu sister and brother in law accompanied us to celebrate with us when I made the reservation I told them it was an anniversary but nothing was said or done to acconolige it....Not ever a drink....
Looking forward to outside dining now that Spring is finally here. Consistently good experience here, from service to food.
Very noisy, and when table was ready, we were put in back by sushi bar. Did not except table. Not pleased at all. We left the restaurant, without having dinner. Will not be going back.
I have dined here on many occasions and attended many happy hours ! I had my son’s graduation party in the Sushi room last June . I am also having my daughter’s sweet 16 here this August . I have enjoyed the experience into now . My friend ordered the duck and received steak . We all tasted it and asked the waiter if perhaps she brought the wrong meal ? We were told no . Another meal was suggested. The issue was that the server kept insisting it was duck , when clearly it was not . Also , an unfortunate incident occurred at a table nearby . A gentlemen passed out and all the tables of course had to be pushed aside for emergency Personel . It was overall a very stressful evening , and my friends no longer want to come to dinner here . They were also contemplating not coming to my daughter’s party. It was upsetting that the manager did nothing to compensate the series of unfortunate events . We had a disappointing evening .
A bit busy and crowded due to multiple events this evening. Service suffered. Always good.
The food is very good and consistently so. It's a bit more contemporary/fusion-type than some people might like, so know your audience. There were a couple of parties going on when I was there, so the noise level was VERY high and there were many people walking back and forth past our table all night long. The service was good, though there were lengthy times between visits to the table. They had valet parking, which was awful! Only two guys there and lots of cars--and it was raining! They also blocked off some of the parking lot, making it harder to get in and out. This last experience was my least favorite yet. The food was good, but it seemed to lack the upscale touch and dining experience it normally offers. If you can go during the week, I'd recommend that instead.
Always good. One thing- we were a party of 4. We wanted a round table in the main section. There were 2 available. We were told the table was being saved in case someone walked in for a larger party even though we saw a few tables of 2 sitting there. We were sat in the corner in the back. The two tables never got seated and we were kind of upset. We felt banished to the corner. The hostess told us she asked the server who said no. I never heard of that. I wasn’t there when this took place. If I was we would have been sat there. Not cool. By the way there was 3 more additional square tables available.
There was no hostess at the door when we arrived. We waited around five minutes, which I thought was odd. When she did appear, she was not all that friendly. As for the food, I felt the spinach salad was small and boring. The lump crab and avocado appetizer was odd. It was pared with a mango purée, which I didn’t care for at all. Our entrees of Filet mignon wrapped in bacon and linguini with shrimp were delicious. Desert was bread pudding, which was tasty. The service was just ok.
I was extremely disappointed that when I made my reservation, I requested that during the desert I wanted my friend’s birthday to be acknowledged, but it was not. Other establishments look carefully at special requests.
Appetizer, main course & dessert as well as the delicious Melbec wine were all perfection!!
Highly recommend Jewel!!
Mother’s Day dinner was great! Incredible selection of drinks and dishes! Service was awesome! Would dine again!
We've been to Jewel several times and always had a good experience. Not this time ! The shrimp and beef meatball appetizers were without any taste except for being drenched in a sauce. And we wondered why we were given heavy steak knives for our lobster and porcine mushroom risotto. That question became clear when we had to literally "saw" through the pieces of lobster. And we noticed another table had spoken to a manager and received a replacement of the same which she didn't finish either. Truly a disappointment for a holiday meal.
Staff was excellent food spectacular!!
service was bad spoke to the owner he balm on luck of service due to call out. This is not expectable, we been charge paid full amount for lousy service .
Chef Tom Schaudel has set a new standard in fine dining on Long Island with Jewel. A glittering prize, literally and figuratively, in his line-up of stellar restaurants, Schaudel and his platoon of young chefs hum seamlessly on all culinary cylinders, turning out delicious, beautifully plated dishes that would satisfy even the most demanding food snob. The bacon-wrapped filet mignon was superb for its buttery tendetness and rich, beefy flavor. Loved the special appetizer of tempua battered squash blossom stuffed with goat cheese and chive, which arrive amid a circular trail of pesto and an assembly of cherry tomato ragout. The light crunch gave way to flavorful creaminess within. Outstanding. Service is first rate and prices more than fair for the quality of food and well-tailored ambience.
Excellent food, great Ambiance, and good service
Blown away by the service the decor and the ambiance. Our server Taylor was amazing the food was perfectly (my rib-eye was a perfect medium rare). We will be coming back
Good was great and our server Taylor was phenomenal
Excellent food every time I go there.
Decor: Gorgeous decor. Beautifully appointed. Romantic. Elegant. Even though it's close to the highway (convenient) you feel like it's magical. Lights in the trees, glass balls from the ceiling, kitchen you can see in, beautiful bar and glass wine refrigerators.
Bathroom: Must go to the men's room and stand in front of the urinal. If you're a woman you must ask a male waiter to bring you in when no one is there and stand there a minute. Original and funny!!! They should put something like it in the women's bathroom.
Food: Food was eh. Chicken overcooked and dry. Some weird, rubbery mushroom on the side. My sister sent her wine back.
Great Place for a date. Bar staff is friendly, and engaging. Server was funny and gave us all great recommendations for our meals. Look forward to going there again soon.
Great venue, great food, even better service!
Beautiful restaurant. Make sure you visit the men’s room...absolutely hysterical. Food was fantastic. Service was great.
The restaurant is very appealing from the outside, but inside I would’ve rather seeing a better sitting a & more romantic arrangement to match the outside. The food is excellent the best , specially the mango cheesecake was out of this world.
Went, unknowingly during restaurant week. The menu selection was limited therefore was unable to get the full selection that was on the internet. The service was slow. We got the paso buco and the fish. The appetizers (octopus and tuna tartar) were both delicious.
Will need to go back to experience there entire menu.
It took Three hours for a simple dinner for three. Plus it was Restaurant Week. You would think everything would be great. The place was at 50%. Plus a large rehearsal dinner party. We were told ‘you have no idea what I’m dealing with’ by our server. When we said it was taking a bit long. Just wrong. The food was below par especially for Tom Schaudel.
The atmosphere was cool. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and drinks. Drinks were strong.
Went during restaurant week. Food was delicious. Service was great. Did not rush us.
