Jewel Bako Ratings and Reviews
Great atmosphere, cool vibes from this place.
Pros: sushi was awesome, rolls were Yuge!
Cons: We were one of the last reservations, but they stuck us next to one other couple, so it felt like we were on a double date. But they made up for it by letting us sit there after they had closed, felt like we had a private room.
Overall, good place for some pretty good sushi
Everything, including food and service, was top notch. The only issue is that the fixed bench seats against the wall are too low and uncomfortable. It appeared that the staff were well aware of the issue. The restaurant could easily fix the problem at a very small cost.
The service is outstanding and decor is great! Good & intimate ambience. But the taste of the sushi was pretty ordinary for the prices . Our bill was $348 for 2 ( 1 sake & 2 beers, no appetizer, just omakase) for the taste of sushi that we could have gotten for $180 )
We had to wait 25 minutes before anyone served us and we saw other tables get food many times over, not even water. Then they bring miso soup an hour in and spilled all over us and the table. Didn’t even wipe the table after just used one of our napkins and didn’t bring us a new napkin. Had to ask twice. The food took an hour and 45 minutes to come. Pretty terrible and it wasn’t very good - very chewy pieces only 3 pieces of tuna in their $95 enhanced sashimi platter. They offered to take money off the bill and took off $10. Terrible
Went to Jewel Bako for my sushi-loving dads 70th bday. The only negative thing is can say is it’s a tight space and we had 2 large men with us. However, the negativity stops there. This place is pretty outstanding. Fish was on another level, fresh and different. Service and specifically our waiter was on point with his recommendations (both food and drink) and super nice and accomodating. Overall my family was super happy with this place. If you are a true sushi lover, this is a spot you must try.
Even though I requested a table near the sushi bar two months ago when I made my reservation, the hostess said she couldn’t seat me there, though there were two empty seats there for over an hour. We waited over ten minutes with our menus and a wobbly table before our server came over. Instead of explaining the menu (it was our first time) he asked if we were “ready” for what I don’t know because we didn’t have drinks. We asked him to explain the menu and when he did we decided on the omakase which is 125 each. The five course meal was fine, not filling enough for the price. I had one drink that night and was never asked again if I wanted another. The service is not good here and overall I felt ripped off. This place might’ve been good in the past and that’s where it ends.
I had appetizers and a sushi entree. The paper hot pot and other appetizers were delicious. The fish was fresh although not memorable, and the sushi rice was serviceable. I wasn't thrilled with the service. It took a long time to take our order, although the couple next to us who arrived after us was attended to very quickly. Maybe we weren't as chic looking. The server was gracious and attentive once he got to us.
