Jessica's at Swift House Ratings and Reviews
Our group had the gnocchi, duck and salmon - all were delicious - not a speck of food left on our dishes. Desserts - key lime cheesecake, lemon tart and maple creme brûlée - nothing left on anyone's plate! Absolutely delicious, loved the ambiance and the service was wonderful!!
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Swift House Inn this past Saturday night and once we saw that they had a restaurant on site, we knew we had to try it out! It was only a few steps away from our carriage house room, what's better than that?
From the moment we walked in we could feel the hospitality. Someone greeted us right away and took our jackets. Jodi was our server and she was as sweet as ever! Very accommodating. I liked that they had multiple vegetarian options. I got the mushroom Wellington and oh my god was it amazing! I honestly want to try and replicate it at home it was that good (and sadly Jessica's is a 3+ hour drive for me). I'm not sure about the other drinks but they had a great selection of wines and champagnes. I tried some of my boyfriend's gnocchi and it was delicious as well!
We were so stuffed from dinner we didn't think we could eat anything else but once we saw the dessert list, we knew we had to try the mocha ice cream with chocolate wafers and caramel popcorn. I am so glad we did because it was amazing! We were very pleased to learn all the desserts are made on site.
I do not have a single complaint about Jessica's or the Swift House Inn in general. Everything from the atmosphere to the service to the food was perfect. I will definitely come back and tell all my friends about this place!!!!!
My brother and I had an excellent meal on Christmas day! He is handicapped, and has difficulty walking. The maître d' was amazing, he helped me get my brother seated and comfortable! I rate the service outstanding, the staff was so friendly and accommodating. The food was excellent as well, we both had the prime rib, which was done perfectly. Accompanying wine was also very good, as were the desserts. I highly recommend this restaurant for a holiday meal, business get together, or to dine for a special night out!
We had lovely dinner at Jessicas with a fire to keep us warm. The service was very friendly and the noise level was great for having a conversation. Small rooms and cosy atmosphere. Food was well-prepared and good selection. Salads and dessert very good. We'll go again.
My son and I love going to the Swift House for a game of chess and a beverage. This time, with my wife away for the weekend and my daughter at a sleepover, he and I decided to eat at Jessica's. We're glad we did. The friendly service, antique decor, and gourmet cuisine easily met our expectations. His steak was perfectly prepared, and my venison shank was very good. Special thanks to our server and the highly skilled sommelier.
We were very disappointed in both the food and the service. We had had excellent meals before. The duck was dry as was the chicken. We were left for long periods without service which was distressing as we had reservations and some tables were receiving timely service. We will not dine there for dinner again. The menu selections have become stale as well.
I'd go back there just for the salads and appetizers alone, the Burbon and Rye selections were great, the main course was very delicious and very filling -- no room for desert although they looked amazing. Entrance and Parking lot were a little hard to find at night but I'm glad we did.
I dined at Jessica's on a Saturday evening while in town visiting family. We all loved our meals and I would definitely go back if I am in the area again. The service and food was perfect. There are gluten free and vegetarian options available. Loved that most of the food is local - farm to table.
We stayed at the Swift House Inn, which made dinner even more enjoyable. The food at Jessica's was well prepared and artistically presented, the wine list extensive, and the prices comparable to similar restaurants in DC. If we find ourselves again in Middlebury, we'll definitely return to the Swift House for lodging and Jessica's for dinner.
This was our 2nd trip to Swift house Inn. The Inn is delightful, very period conscious and full of charm. Dinner was great. We had the ravioli which was wonderful, home made and very delicate. included in our stay was a fabulous breakfast . My husband the croissant French toast awesome! I had the omelet which was cooked to perfection filled with roasted red peppers, mushrooms and feta.
Wonderful overnight get away.
My husband and I visited Jessica's during a overnight trip to Middleberry. We walked over from the Middleberry Inn - by the end of our evening we had wished that we were staying at the Swift House Inn instead! The ambience was lovely – a classic Vermont inn atmosphere. Our service was exceptional and our server was just the sweetest young lady. The food was delicious – the watermelon salad was memorable and one I will be trying to re-create, but probably not as successfully! Be sure to order the blueberry gelato – fantastic!
With three rooms and a roofed deck, you will find a setting to your liking. Waitress was friendly and came to the table promptly. Nice wine menu, but house wines were just ok.
Warm bread and soft butter we were just the right touch while awaiting our meals.
The crab cakes were sublime with just the prefect amount of seasoning. Vegetable dumplings and deep fried calamari and peppers for appetizers were great starters and nicely presented. Desserts looked simple but delicious, however we passed for a brandy nightcap. Reasonable prices and good value make this a must visit restaurant when in Middlebury, Vermont.
We visit Vermont every summer and Jessica's has become one of our favorite go-to restaurants. The ambiance and decor are beautiful-- gentle and warm-- and the service is excellent! The food is beautifully prepared and presented--and especially delicious! We particularly loved the warm beet and spinach salad this year, as well as the corn and crab bisque. The wine selection (always of interest!) is excellent.
It's wonderful to feel so welcomed upon arrival. The Swift Inn, quietly located just off Rt.7 in Middlebury, is beautifully landscaped, and one can sit with a drink on the porch or back lawn, contemplating the flowers and greenery before heading in for a sumptuous meal.
Jessica's is truly a find!
We ate at Jessica's at the Swift House for the first time last Saturday evening. We had a wonderful experience. Excellent food and service. Very relaxed and enjoyable. We all had different entrees--steak, fish, lamb and pork. Everyone was very happy with their dinner. We can't wait to go back!
The food here is constantly fabulous. Who would believe you can get great crab cakes and scallops in Vermont. Well believe me when I tell you, you can. We have yet to have anything that was anything less than delicious. Tom is very accommodating and you can be sure to have a great dinner at Jessica's
I've lived in the area since 1999, but wasn't even aware that Jessica's existed until I received a gift certificate for Christmas. I went with my husband and another couple. I loved the atmosphere; I felt like I was eating in the dining room of a grand, old house (which, I guess I was). They have an amazing wine list. The menu was small and not exciting or eclectic, but of the four of us, we each ordered something different, and everything was good. Pork was cooked a little too thoroughly, making it tough, but that's the only complaint. The service was professional and pleasant. We ordered wine and four courses each, so the bill was very high; however, I don't think their prices are higher than Fire & Ice, and the whole experience was better so there was value to it. Definitely a great special occasion gem.
Jessica's is a real find. The brussels sprout salad was light and very tasty. The venison steak was cooked perfectly and the chef changed things around to accommodate "no dairy" on several entrees. The wait staff was extremely efficient and friendly but never rushed or hovered. We liked it so much we had dinner there the next night, had different entrees but the same great service. I highly recommend Jessica's.
I loved the ambiance of the restaurant, very warm and romantic! The calamari with the soy sauce was a most delightful appetizer. The sauce was so good that we started to break apart our bread to dip in it. I had the Tuscan Chicken and my husband the Pork Chop dish, both were very tasty. I highly recommend this restaurant.
The restaurant has a nice, cozy feel. The service is attentive, friendly, and efficient. The portions are not large for the price but we did bring home leftovers. I especially love the crab cakes. It's hard to find a good crab cake in Vermont and these are the best I've tasted outside of Maryland!
