A meal at Jessica's Restaurant is always memorable. The recently updated dining room is a reflection of the casual comfort and style of this New England country inn. Jessica's Restaurant is located in the Swift House Inn in Middlebury, Vermont. Jessica's is just two blocks from downtown Middlebury, set in an 1814 stately home, surrounded by beautiful lawns and gardens. Jessica's casual atmosphere is the perfect place for a dinner for two, or a celebratory dinner for four to forty! Come early and enjoy our bar; Tom, with his more than 30 years of bartending experience, can fix you a cocktail or help you choose the right bottle of wine. We have won the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for our wine list for six straight years! We also have local beers on tap including Switchback, from Burlington,Vermont; and two brews from Middlebury's Otter Creek Brewery or Drop-In Brewery.

The service is always impeccable. The bread you must taste carbs be damned...crisp on the outside, delicious sweet butter on the side. Salad done right...not over dressed. I had the greek to avoid a sweet dressing...loved it. Dined with a vegetarian who was thrilled to see more than one option. He loved the mushroom Wellington. Martinis done very well...dry and garnished as requested. Bar seems to be well stocked. Outstanding wine list. I ordered the seafood special and wish I had ordered the salmon instead. Too much cream sauce on the special and the lobster in the ravioli tasted canned. It probably wasn't, but perhaps overcooked. My friend loved the salmon. Husband devoured the lamb shank. Desert was delicious. Normally wouldn't have tried the bread pudding, but we were a sharing group and hey! pretty good! Cheesecake very good.

Best fine dining in Middlebury and has been consistently so for years. Crowd skews older -- partly because it's in a B and B -- but don't let that stop you. Delicious!

We have been to Jessica's twice now- once when we got engaged, and again on our mini moon after getting married. The staff have made both times so special. The inn is such a beautiful place to eat, and the food and drinks are amazing!

Wonderful restaurant, B&B and dinner to top off a beautiful fall hiking weekend in Vermont. We particularly enjoyed the helpful wait staff and the sommelier, David. David recommended a wonderful wine to accompany our seafood selections. We will be back!

We were seated in the library, where a party of six was celebrating a birthday. We were the only other table in the room, and felt like spectators at their event. Next time I will specify a quiet table for two when I make a reservation.

Lovely setting with sufficient parking g for groups. Lisa ited but superb menu. Wild caught Halibut was amazing. Crab po' bot was loaded with crab and done to perfection. Wine list is second to none and has a fine wine for every wallet and taste.
Service was fantastic yet succinct.
This is a destination not to be missed in Middlebury.

The whole family enjoyed an excellent meal tonight start to finish. Service was friendly and quick. The setting was beautiful. Salads were fresh and flavorful. Had the kalette appetizer which the whole table enjoyed. Entrees were fantastic! I had the rib eye. One son had the steak au poivre; another had haddock with heirloom tomatoes, and my husband had the pork chops. We all agreed it was a perfect meal. We ended the meal with wonderful desserts - maple creme brulee, marscapone cheesecake, banana bread pudding, and ice cream with a praline topping. Just the right size and sweetness to finish this wonderful meal. We hope to be back soon.

Our meal was outstanding and delicious. The staff was friendly, courteous, and knowlegable. The food is made on site - no frozen entrees at this establishment. The home made desserts are excellent. The breakfast for the guests of the inn is also very good. The presentation was also excellent.

Second time dining at Jessica’s. We come from Rutland to experience Jessica’s unique menu, expansive wine list and top notch service. At this visit, we had the pate appetizer which is a chef’s secret recipe. My husband and I both opted for the evening specials- an Asian inspired halibut dish and a strip steak with garlic scape butter. Both entrees were complimented with local beet greens (delicious) and we opted for the Belgian fries (duck fat fries) as the potato side. Yum! Jessica’s offers a well rounded dessert menu. We tried the maple creme brûlée and banana bread pudding. Empty plates all around!
The staff is extremely knowledgeable and welcoming. David, sommelier, recommended a sparkling rose as a lovely balance to our entrees. We also stopped by the bar at the end of the evening. We met, Tom, the bartender, who introduced us to Japanese whiskey. Looking forward to our next visit at Jessica’s!

We met friends for dinner. Had an excellent meal. If I had to find something wrong, I would say that having a sommelier is a bit pretentious for an otherwise fairly casual restaurant!

The food here is terrific--better and more imaginative than one might expect from the old-school decor. My partner's duck was outstanding, with a wonderful rice/black bean pilaf that sounds odd but turned out to be delicious. I had the burger, and it was great as well--the blue cheese and onion rings on it turned out to be great accompaniments rather than lamentable excess. The duck-fat fries are not be missed. The vibe of the place is genteel and old-school (in a good way--very quiet) but the food is thoughtful and at times surprising. The place to go in Middlebury!

Food was excellent after I sent my duck back for additional cooking. My wife's chicken could have gone another 5 minutes, as well. Don't know what it is with a lot of high end restaurants, but duck does not taste good rare - it is a fatty meat that needs thorough cooking in my opinion - especially the outer fat. The cherry reduction was wonderful, however.
