Jessica's at Swift House Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I were looking for something different locally since it was our 38th anniversary. Jessica’s was the perfect choice for a quiet romantic meal with delicious food, great service, a nice wine selection and an old Inn atmosphere. Just what we were looking for to make our evening special and not just another night out. To top it off the prices were reasonable. We look forward to returning.
For special occasions, you can't beat Jessicas. Staff is wonderful (especially Tom, wine expert extraordinaire, and Jodi, a flawless wait staffer. Then there is the food--always beautifully prepared and presented. Atmosphere charming New England Inn at its best.
Very nice dinner in a quiet Select Register inn in Vermont. Food was well presented and tasty - a very good clam chowder starter and the rice pilaf side dish with the main courses were standouts. I gave fewer stars for ambiance as the restaurant is in the same area as the inn breakfast area and lacked the character a good dining room should have.
It was our 5th anniversary, and we needed a great night out in our new home. Arriving a bit early was not a problem, and everyone was fantastic. Our meal was perfect, and the staff was available when needed (or wanted). It's not priced to be a local weekly place, but we'll worth it for a great meal for special occasions (or first impressions). We didn't get the chance, but tapas at the bar might be a good place to start. The patio looked nice, but it was a it cool during our visit. I'm looking forward to our next visit.
We arrived early to have a cocktail on the screened porch and walk around the grounds. The bartender is very helpful and personable. The flowers and herb gardens are colorful and well maintained. Our table was ready as promised. We started with the fried calamari and the french fries with the dipping sauce. Both were very flavorful. The homemade bread was delicious as well. Everyone was very pleased with their entrees. We had the diver sea scallops, tenderloin steak, crab cakes and the pork chop. Everything is locally sourced and fresh. Our meals were cooked perfectly and presented beautifully. We finished with the maple creme brûlée for dessert which was smooth and creamy.
We had dined here three years ago and returned because we were in the area again. We would highly recommend dining here. Five forks!!
I wanted to treat myself for my 60th birthday. I decided that this place was fancy enough to be a treat, but that the food would be great. Not only was the food great, but so was the service and atmosphere. I had a lovely time and highly recommend this place for any occasion. I am from Florida so this Vermont local food restaurant was even better than I anticipated. It was a great birthday gift to myself!
Jessica's is our favorite restaurant in the Middlebury area. The restaurant is situated in an old country inn. The entire dining experience is very classy. They have won several wine awards and they have an extensive offering of wines. The food is always delicious and artfully presented. The service is also wonderful. The pace of dining is attentive, but not rushed. This is a wonderful place for any type of special occasion.
The Swift House is a lovely and charming spot for indoor and outdoor dining. Great food, great atmosphere, creative cuisine with a traditional touch. We loved the porch one night and came back a few days later to eat in the library. Nice wine selection and great local cheeses and produce. We watched one of the kitchen helpers cut fresh chives and parsley for our meal. We'll be back on our next trip from Pennsylvania.
When we want to celebrate a special occasion, Jessica's is our first choice. Food is always exceptional, featuring local produce when possible. Service is non-intrusive yet very responsive. Atmosphere is New England charming, complete with fireplace and white table cloth. Duck and lamb chops are the best ever!
This was our first visit to Jessica's, which we had driven past for years saying, "we've got to try that sometime. The building looks lovely!" Well we finally tried it and were delighted with the whole experience. The staff is very friendly and welcoming, the service was very good, and the food was excellent. I had the raw oysters and osso bucco and my wife had the chicken liver pate and crab cakes. The first three were excellent and the crab cakes were OK. (Disclaimer: we both grew up on the Chesapeake Bay so the crab cake bar is pretty high for us.) We will definitely be returning regularly!
Everything about our meal was exceptional. What we didn't know was that it was winter graduation weekend for the college. There was a very lively group on each side. Not enough to harm my experience, but with the same knowledge, I might pick a different time to come and eat. Definitely worth going. I'll go again, but I'll check the college calendar first.
