Jensen's Cafe Ratings and Reviews
First time here. We were looking for something close to Ames Center and reviews looked good. I had the prime rib special and it was delicious. They had a good variety to choose from as well as breakfast all day long. Parking was a little tough but would not keep me from going again. Also cute little store called Ficus and Fig in the same building.
Three strikes, I'm out. Not going back.
I made a reservation about a month in advance for my husband, mother and I, pre-show.
We were sat in the middle of a service hallway between the cafe and empty bar.
It was right under a speaker, playing terrible music...bad 90s and "today's hits". Know your customers! My husband, at 32, was the youngest, besides a handful of teenagers with their families, by 20 years easily.
Service was adequate, food was okay.
The table was very disappointing.
Classic Supper Club menu and ambiance. Food and service were excellent. Our family occasions had been celebrated at a better known restaurant for several years, but the service and experience seemed to be on a long decline. Jensen's will be our new choice for birthdays, anniversaries, etc.
We took our 13 year old granddaughter out for dinner before a show at Ames Center.
She had her tonsils out 8 days prior and only had jello, applesauce and icecream since the surgery. She ordered the Swedish pancakes and was so happy that she could eat something solid and that they tasted so wonderful. She even googled the recipe and wants to make them at home. Waitress was friendly and nice. Great food. We live in Plymouth but we will definitely be back.
We were in need of good food, in rather short order, due to a dance competition. There were unique items on the menu and quite a variety of choices. You could get anything from breakfast to dinner. We all enjoyed the food and our waitress was kind and accommodating. We will definitely be back!
Made reservations and noted it was my Moms 84th birthday. She arrived first and was told she gets a free ice cream sundae. When we placed our order I asked for soup before my sandwich. My soup came before sandwich but was only half done when our food came. I had ordered Fajita Chicken sandwich without the chipotle mayo. It came with it on. Our server never stopped to ask how our meal was to mention it. Had to flag down a busboy for water. Server was anxious about a asking if we needed a box for leftovers thou. She stopped by with check and we mentioned it Mom's birthday and said yes she gets a free ice cream sundae and quickly turned to get it. She left so quick not even asking the rest of us if we wanted dessert, which we were thinking about too. The restaurant did not seem busy or maybe understaffed but very poor service. The food was very good thou.
The evening manager canceled our reservation because we were 15 minutes late for a 6:15 dinner. The restaurant had numerous and available open tables. He was not able to reward me my 100 points for the reservation and suggested I make a second "fake" reservation and he'd take care of it. Open table reservations would not work after the cancelation so I called manager. He was not helpful!!! I finally went through the OpenTable website and was helped immediately and rewarded the 100 points.
We've been many times. The service was outstanding and the food was generally good. But a couple things were disappointing. First, the patio wasn't open. Summer evenings in Minnesota are supposed to be spent on the patio! Second, they no longer have wine and beer. Huh? And finally, they serve cafe potatoes with most meals. It's one of their signature items. But they were way overlooked and tasted as if they'd been frozen (and absorbing favors from the freezer) then reheated. And reheated. And reheated. All our entrees were done beautifully and our server was as nice and attentive as could be. We'll be back for breakfast or lunch. But not for dinner. Remember that whole wine/beer/patio thing?
We have ate at Jensens may times for breakfast, this was the first time for supper. I have to say I was not impressed at all with supper. I ordered the turkey dinner, the turkey was super dry!!! The rest of the meal with it was okay. My wife ordered the special, it was some kind of fiesta noodle dish. She said that there was no taste to the white sauce, she thought there would of been some zing. It was just a white thick cream. Next time we will only order breakfast.
