Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
Disappointing visit. We were there for my wife’s birthday. We were welcomed by the hostess who brought us to our table and gave what seemed to be 2 menus to my wife. Nothing for me? Turned out to be a an appetizers/sushi menu and the wine list. I was there for a steak... Then our server showed up after a couple minutes of wondering , with 2 menus. What a weird way to start our dinner. Never been anywhere else doing it like that. We felt rushed the whole time as the server came to take our order barely 3 minutes after we got our drinks. Then brought the wine before we had time to finish our drinks. I had a Caesar salad who looked and tasted like it’s been in the fridge for a day. It’s fresher at Outback and they don’t charge 13$ for it... My steak was perfect though. Had the 8 oz filet and the temperature was just perfect. My wife had the salmon which was apparently also very good. Nice attention at the end, got a free cheesecake with a candle for her birthday 🍰. All in all a disappointing experience for the price we paid. What we thought would be a nice evening for my wife’s birthday ended up being over within about 45 minutes. Really not what we were coming for.
The food was exceptional. We have gone to the best steak restaurants in Chicago, and this place rates with the best of them.
The manager kindly stopped at various tables and checked how the customers were doing.
The only offensive part was the picture on the wall of Sean Hannity with the owner! But there were numerous other celebrity photos that offset the Hannity one.
It was recommended by a friend who grew up in Cincinnati. He was right on target.
Our steak and butter pie (yes, butter pie) were beyond phenomenal. If you go to Cincinnati, this place is a must.
Amazing experience, food was fantastic! Our server was excellent and so was the table team. Only thing that was a little dissapointing was when they bagged our food to go not all of it got in the bag. We really missed the rest of our potato Anna they were delicious !
Party of 6 for a birthday celebration. Lived up to expectations of a Ruby's restaurant for ambience, service and for the most part the food. Service was excellent except the waiter was a bit over the top on pushing us to order more appetizers and sides than was needed. Overall, everyone but myself thought the food was excellent. I had the Cowboy Rib Eye, which was cooked just right, but tough and full of gristle. Not expected in a $70 piece of meat.
This was my first experience and maybe had exceedingly high expectations given the price point. When my husband and I arrived we were seated promptly in a very cold room with loud music. I could not take off my coat until halfway through the evening. The wait staff conceded to the dilemma and stated they would address the issue. They were also attentive to the loud music. My reservation had been made well in advance. We were seated in a room that soon became a party room as a large group showed for a dinner for the holiday. They were loud as well, and apologized in advance because they said their behavior would be obnoxious. Those were the low points. The high points are : the food was exceptional I had the collinsworth on a petit cut and it was delicious and prepared to my request. The carrot salad was urged as an appropriate side and I am glad I listened. My husband and I split it and it was wonderful. Our wait staff anticipated our every need which truly made the evening. Lupe kept our glasses filled with water, was very friendly and had a great sense of humor. Jason, our water had a great command of the menu and options, was very friendly and responded quickly to our requests.
A traditional steakhouse with excellent service and superb quality beef. The menu also featured several seafood options for non-steak lovers. Even though it was a Wednesday night, both the bar and the restaurant itself were packed. Easily worth an encore performance all around.
Every year at Christmas time, a group of friends get together for our Christmas party to have dinner before the show. The service is always outstanding, and I love the atmosphere. However, the one thing, the most important thing is the steak. I always order the Filet Mignon, cooked medium, and every time I'm a little disappointed. The steak is never really 'hot'. The sear is good but the temperature is just so-so. It's happened several times, and I don't complain because we are in a group of about 6-8 people. I don't know if it has to do with the size of the group but I've had the same cut of meat at other fine dining places (smaller group size) and the temperature has been hot.
I received gift card as a gift. I am not a red meat eater nor seafood eater. I had hoped the chicken selection would be out of this world as the steaks get rave reviews all the time. This was not the case. I was surprised that it was deep fried and not grilled (that would have been my preference). The meat was dry.
I can say that the mac and cheese was to die for.
