Jean-Robert's Table Ratings and Reviews
I ordered two glasses of wine (different types) and they were both outstanding for the price. However, the fish I ordered, which was the daily special, was quite overcooked. Our main server was rote and somewhat unpleasant, and when it came time to pour sauces over our entrees he slopped them on so haphazardly I checked my shirt for splash stains. The bread was exceptional.
Most disappointed experience. We have our nephew visiting from St.Luois. First I ordered foie gras for appetizer. The inside was cold like it just came out of the refrigerator. I sent it back. Came back , still is chilled on the inside. My main course was cod. Not much of taste or flavor bland. The worst came last. Our server Jim, either has hearing problem or saw that I have and Asian face. I ordered chocolate mouse, and just could not understand. My nephew and my husband tried to help, he still could not understand. My nephew finally had to actually point it out on the menu. We had not been to Robert’s Restaurant awhile. Used to love it. It is no longer the same caliber of restaurant we used to know. Terrible to have paid such high price for a meal, and to have foie gras came out ice cold and a waiter that could understand what the customer wanted to order, until you actually have to point it out on the printed menu!
My husband and I decided to start our ‘stay-cation’ with dinner at Jean-Robert’s Table. We both had the December special, a 5 course lobster and Champagne delight. Each course was well prepared, portions were just right in size given the richness of the menu. The lobster bisque was especially delicious. The lobster Bernaise on the filet was unusual and very tasty.
Went here for a holiday business lunch for my three coworkers and myself. When we were seated, a server came to our table with bottles of sparkling and tap water and proceeded to offer us either one. We all decided on sparkling and our servers proceeded to refill our glasses throughout our entire lunch- even unnecessarily topping them off. When we got the bill we realized we had been charged $24 for three bottles of sparkling water and no one even bothered to inform us of this. In addition, my meal was fairly subpar. I ordered the tarte fine, which tasted like a gross mishmash of duck confit and a wedge of lettuce plopped on top with blue cheese dressing and some other mess of ingredients on the side. Although my dish was disappointing, my coworkers seemed like their dishes were somewhat decent.
Jean-Robert's Table will adjust the food to meet your specifications. One of my guests wanted a fish entrée with vegetables from a different entrée. They were delighted to accommodate her. I had a food allergy and was immediately told it would not be a problem.
I met a volunteer friend who works at the same organization that I do. We try to meet once or twice during the year, this is the second year that we have met at Jean Robert's Table and we plan to meet there again in 6 months. Our service was great and the food was delicious! I love the space and the art!
Service and staff were excellent. Lots of time training on interacting with dinners. Lots of helpful advice without being overbearing or intrusive. Food was very well prepared and more than adequate portions. Meal is served very hot to increase flavor in the dinning experience. Did not try any alcohol but other patrons were enjoying their respective selections. Easy to talk with fellow dinners or say hello to friends as they passed by.
Dining was good. Our server was horrible. She wasn't a bad server, just extremely unfriendly. Seriously, like we killed her dog half way through the meal. I'm low maintenance and don't need much but I don't want someone to go out of their way to make sure they know they have a problem with me and/or my party. (We were quiet and low key, FYI)
I still tipped her 20%.
A little disappointing. Appetizers and drinks were up to our expectations for Table as was service. But entrees fell short. The Filets were especially bland and cooked closer to medium than requested medium rare. Grouper special was good but not the exceptional experience we usually have at Table.
I had gone to JRT about a year earlier and was very impressed. This time we we appalled at the absolute rude service of the waiter. Even after we stated we were going to take our time, ordering 3 appetizers between two of us and having cocktails, we were rushed through our meal. Then when entrées arrived, it was obvious they had been sitting in the back for some time. Let us just conclude by saying that Roberts himself was no longer in the kitchen. Extremely dissatisfied and excessively mediocre.
Outstanding food! We asked our server to pair the wine with each course and it was incredible. At each course, he brought a glass for my wife and a glass for me of something we could both share and try with the food. He quickly was able to determine which part of France our respective palates enjoyed...it was a fun evening filled with incredible food. I expected the bill to be high, but to my surprise, it was a very fair price especially given the experience and food!
Not one of our best visits. We eat here often before a show and we have had better meals. My Lamb trio special was salty. I mentioned it to the waiter and received a "I'll let the kitchen know". I should of sent it back but didn't. My wife had the scallops on the menu, it was good but not one of her better experiences.
