Very good authentic French bistro food, courteous and friendly service, outdoor seating pleasant.
We dined outside on the patio. There was quite good table spacing but no dividers The food was very good. One had the Mussels and they were the biggest, most tender mussels ever. The pork dish was also excellent and as for escargot “Oo la la”
I have dined herebefore. I had the duck last night, and there was hardly any duck on the plate. Also, my gin and tonic was so "light" I asked the waiter to put a little more gin in it. The noiselevel is awful.
I have enjoyed it before, but last night was not good.
Awesome food and even better service.
Excellent as always. The frites order could be more plentiful. And martini price is a bit high for a second Avenue restaurant- they are typically $11-13 bucks in the area. 17 is way too high.
Great place for brunch inside or outdoors
Great casual restaurant. Pretty, good food and lively ambience.
All dishes were excellent. Escargot and salad were good.
The food was very good. my only complaint is that my steak was overcooked. I asked for medium rare and what I received was medium
I and my guest had a lovely lunch. Her first time there. We both emjoyed it.
Waiter was professional but not very friendly. The vegetable platter entree for $24 was skimpy and totally not worth it. The fish and steak were good. The wine was excellent.
Crowded on Mother's Day, so a bit noisy, but the service was good, and the food very good. Delicious sesame forward tuna tartar. Copious serving of yummy plump mussels. My companions enjoyed duck and cod.
Excellent food and service. Reservations were very easy to secure, even on Mother's Day.
Outdoor, but covered, dining.
service left much to be desired. slow and inattentive
On a busy Mother's Day, the food was excellent. It was a bit chilly, but that's to be expected on a rainy night when doors and windows are open for ventilation. I would have liked it quieter, but it certainly was a reasonable noise level.
It was great to see the restaurant busy and our fellow diners looked happy and relaxed. There is a lovely ambience. Servers were pleasant. We had tuna tartar and it was very good - a little sesame oil and fresh tuna. The skate was good - the balsamic reduction a bit heavy for my taste, but overall a very tasty dish. The stake au poivre was delicious. A nice cold martini and good bread rounded out the meal.
I took my family there on Sunday for Mother's Day. We had not been in a restaurant in NYC since the beginning of the pandemic. We love Jean Claude 2, and we will definitely go back whenever we want to eat French food in a Parisian atmosphere.
I strongly recommend it to people who want to eat great food in a calm ambience.
Awesome experience overall! Wouldn’t mind going back
Our omelets were very very good. But the prices were higher than I would think were appropriate for the service and atmosphere of this bistro.
I love this place. I’ve been going to JC2 since it opened. Quite a long time now.
The food has just been getting better and better. For a relaxed good meal this is the place.
The food is very good and very French bistro. Love the whole ambiance
Great food. Spectacular service. We've become regular customers.
Very positive only problem got email from open table stating never showed up for reservation. Have receipt
Favorite restaurant in NYC. Well run, great food
Very Nice , great service
Everything was delicious. Best onion soup ever!
I always had a great meal. Usually calf liver. This is a one the skate was incredibly well prepared , pan fried over couscous, portobello and broiled tomato with a tarragon and balsamic reduction👏
One of our favorite French Restaurants. Delicious food. Excellent outdoor dining.
Great food and service as always.
Great service. My Moules Marinieres was delicious.
Birthday. Very pleasant and good basic food
Pleasant, friendly, accommodating, but portions were a little smaller than they could be, especially for the price.
Food was not hot, though we did not send it back.
Disappointing. I'd been there 2 weeks ago for dinner and had enjoyed it but this time was a most unpleasant experience. My friend ordered a white eg omelette with onions and got fried eggs with a yolk and no onions. My croque-madame was just meh. We waited an unconscionable amount of time for the tarte tatin we ordered and finally, the service was terrible. The right hand literally didn't know what the left hand was doing. When I got the bill, they had of course charged me the extra $3 for the non-existent onions so had to get that changed. Doubt very much I'd give this place another try.
Sooooo happy to see Jean-Claude II back and bigger and thriving....it was jumping the night we were there and everything came together. Same great menu with ample choices, delicious fare, a full bar, wonderful service and ambience. It was a delight!
My friend and I had a very nice lunch two days ago. The owner was there along with two waiters, so the service was swift and efficient. The food is reliable and refills for tea and coffee came in a timely fashion. At another occasion, a week ago, there was only one waiter, so the service was not as good and it took a long time to get served. So we will return when we know the owner is around.
I have always loved this wonderful little French restaurant. The food is delicious and the service is excellent. Lovely wine list and great outdoor seating as well
Outside dining on Second Avenue makes for some noise. The ambience and the food were perfect for a spring lunch. Can't wait to go into the newly enlarged inside, covid permitting!
I've eaten here before and always enjoyed it. This time, with a group of 5, my expectations were surpassed once again. Great service, friendly staff, excellent food - perfect Sunday brunch.
