We heard that the live entertainment on Friday night was going to be discontinued. If that is the case I doubt that we will return. Too many other restaurants that have much better quality food for the price; we were there for the entertainment
We booked well in advance and on 26th Dec JDs cancelled our booking even though their own website said they were open.
We were out and we only found out that the restaurant was closed when we got there. There was a voicemail when we got home but the cancellation was too late as we were out.
Jds should inform open table so that my mobile app could have notified me so I could make other arrangements.
The was no reason for the cancellation and they have not responded to any of our messages.
Very poor they could at least contact me and offer a discount if we go there again.
Ok, we were at JD’s on Saturday Dec. 21st. Service was awful, food ( we had the duck) was very bad, took three hours for dinner! Music was good, atmosphere lovely. Won’t go back for a long time!!
We split the rack of lamb (8 ribs) and the the oven roasted vegetables. As always, we started with the chef’s pate and brought half home for the following day’s lunch. Our server was a little chatty given the number of tables she had but overall the service was very good. The jazz was very good.
There was a large party in the other half of the room so it was a little noisier than usual but not so much that we couldn’t talk or enjoy the music.
Heard a lot about JD's, finally went there with a date. The entertainment was superb, the Salmon Oscar was the best I ever had, even my date commented on it. The Chicken Picatta was very good also. I gave it a four on atmosphere as I likened it to the old TV show 77 Sunset Strip which brought back memories and a five rating, but my date thought the interior to stark.
Was disappointed in the quality of my steak, potatoes and broccoli. Was not a good value for as much as the evening cost us
In the Port Charlotte area, this is the best fine dining around. Cool music and great martini's.
Absolute perfection for a dining experience! Server was friendly and efficient and set the tone for the evening. Thank you Raffi! Loved the martinis and the food. Music was the perfect level of entertaining and all around ambiance was sheer pleasure.
awesome food, great service and incredible jazz music
JD's is one off our favorite restaurants. The food is excellent, but what sets it apart from other fine restaurants is that it presents live jazz as well as excellent food. We go there on Friday nights because that is when the Danny Sinoff trio plays, and they are excellent! It is the best jazz one can hear between Sarasota and Fort Myers. And, the small restaurant provides intimate contact with the music and the musicians. We have been coming here for years, and will continue to do so as long as Danny shows up on Friday evenings.
Amazing restaurant with excellent food and wonderful music.
It was so special to get to JD's on my hubby's birthday and to see a nice spray of balloons on the table and a card signed by all the staff. So cool! They kindly took the balloons away until we were ready to leave. Tiffani was very attentive.
The osso bucco was delicious as was the shrimp cocktail with avocado salad. I wish I had ordered the lobster over the crab cakes, as I like a nice plain lump crabmeat cake but these were more spiced and not lump. They were very good with the sauces.
The musicians were very fun to listen to and the music was not so loud you couldn't have a conversation at the table. We even danced!
All in all a great evening at JDs. One of many to come.
Sadly, the Menu has been reduced and some favorites are no longer available.
My garlic mashed potatoes were lukewarm and had too much garlic...had to season them. Steak was awesome, wine (McMurry) was delicious and the desert divine. Service was ok, music was GREAT! LOVED that they sang 'Happy Birthday' to my husband, that made it soooo memorable and made him happy!!! THANK YOU!
It was my first time their I took my boyfriend because it was his birthday we were very disappointed the service was not good at all we had to wait for a glass of wine for 15minutes and our food came first and my chicken was not cooked it was roar very bad experience!
Great venue for listening to some excellent Jazz. Food is quite expensive but the menu is fairly wide. The steak was not especially tasty, but the lobster dish was excellent.
Great food, service and jazz quartet! They need to advertise more! Only seven table full while we were there. A hidden gem!
Food was excellent. Interesting menu. Soft jazz music. The musicians were very good, playing mostly sixties and seventies. It was a bit too loud for dinner music. At one point, the singer asked if it was too loud. I responded yes, and he turned it down, which was better. Overall, I would recommend this place and we will go back.
Our first time there and we enjoyed it very much. Just wish the music played longer- we would have stayed for drinks and dessert!
Food was good, portions small(especially the tiny lobster tail) for the price.
Service was slow. Took forever to get our wine and water
Music was excellent!!! The music is the main reason that we will return
Awful experience. We won’t go back. When we arrived, we waited 10 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us. We were then seated and left for a number of minutes. Ordered drinks and they were served in very small glasses. Waited several more minutes to hear what their specials. Server then left fro several more minutes before actually coming back and taking our order. After at least a half hour, we were served our dinners. We both ordered fillet mignon. Both fillets tasted charred. My wife had asparagus and mashed potatoes. Both were cold and the potatoes had absolutely no flavor or taste.
We have been to JD’s several times but not recently. We liked the music and the food in the past, but now, even with great music, we won’t be back.
need more staff wait time very slow. music was wonderful. duck portion small,
A little dark when you walk in but your eyes adjust quickly the food was awesome, everything from the service to the martinis were great would recommend it to anyone who wants a great meal at a fair price and some good music that you could even have a conversation without yelling.
We love to dine at JD's Bistro and Grille! The ambiance and the music is really special... it has the feeling of a dance/supper club from years ago. The food and service are very good, and t's a great place for a romantic dinner. Would highly recommend it to anyone!
Good supper club
Surprised by only a few patrons
We enjoyed our evening so much. We like to plan our outings on Friday night when Danny and his Jazz team are available to play. The music, wine, food, entainment and friends that we dined with, made such an enjoyable evening in our local community. Nice we are so close to good food and music opportunities. Well done and pleased with J.D.'s.
My second time here and the food, service and the great jazz were great both times! A hidden gem in Port Charlotte!
Great music, great welcome and excellent food at a fair price
Tony Bofa and his band are the best
Outstanding evening with great food, outstanding service and fantastic band. Portions were ample, cooked to perfection and priced well for what you received. Tony Boffa Quartet made the evening. I am a retired Restaurant Owner and know when a place is the real deal.
The ambiance was good and our waitress excellent. On the other hand, the food was bad. My wife's escargot appetizer tasted like it was out of a can. Her lobster tail was very difficult to remove from the shell which means it was not cooked properly. My caesar salad was smothered with anchovies with few croutons so that was its only taste . I asked for very rare rack of lamb and got medium well , hard to cut chops. In summary, we paid very close to $150.00 for very poor prepared and tasting food.
At 8PM on a Tuesday the place was deserted with only one other table occupied. After eating the food, I can understand why.
Always a great time, great music Food never disappoints.
Food was excellent. Music was a bit loud to be able to hear table mates well. You need a lot of time because service was very slow. We were not in hurry so it was ok but we all did remark on length of time it took to order and then get the food and drinks.
We had a lovely evening at JD's. Lovely live music and food is always prepared with attention to detail. Service was a little slower than my other visits, so if you are in a rush just let your server know. This restaurant offers a great atmosphere to relax and enjoy the evening...
What an amazing place!! I’m a professional musician from NYC, and JD’s is a NYC level entertainment venue!1 Tony Boffa was amazing and he had guest musicians who were great!!! I love going there when I visit Port Charlotte FL!!
The food was very good and cooked to perfection. The waitress did forget both my appetizer and dessert however and I was shocked because there were not many tables. The band was great except it was very loud and we could not even have a conversation!
A lovely dinner with live music. Food and music were both great. The jazz trio filled the room with music but not too loud that you couldn’t have a conversation too. We will be back.
We used to love going to JDs for the food and the music...not so much anymore....food quality has greatly gone downhill and they didn't fight to keep Kitt Moran. Really, truly a big shame. It used to be fabulous!
The food is always excellent. The jazz band is fabulous. Wonderful place for special occasions!
Our first time here. I took my wife for Mother’s Day. The food was excellent, the staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. The life music was light and peaceful. An overall great experience.
