JD Hoyt's Ratings and Reviews
I would recommend JD Hoyt's if you are hungry. Great atmosphere, excellent service, excellent food. Great value in dining out. Where else can your get two giant slow cooked and perfectly seasoned pork chops for $30? And that comes with vegetable! I ordered a scotch on the rocks from the scotch menu. The entire glass was filled with scotch and a couple of ice cubes. An amazing value in a single malt. I can't wait to go back to this place and maybe try the blackened catfish or a steak. We eat out a great deal and I wouldn't bother to write this review if this place wasn't so exceptional.
I sent in my reservation request on OpenTable asked for the VIP table for Lisa’s birthday I would think that they would’ve done something special for Lisa’s birthday as we go to the restaurant at least once a month and I saw it said Lisa’s birthday on the reservation that they had but nothing was offered the bar was very noisy with a bunch of drunks hanging over our table and just was not our normal experience and Lisa didn’t get any kind of birthday celebration or wish from JD Hoyts or the server
Hardwood grilled meats are the highlight of this local hangout. Prices are not cheap, but portion sizes are large. This is a meat lovers paradise.
Steaks, pork chops, and ribs were all outstanding. Big portions so we ordered appetizers then 3 entrees to share family style. Crab cakes I would skip next time....not great. Other appetizers great. Grilled shrimp fantastic and perfectly cooked with charcoal flavor. Desserts lovely....
Service was helpful and fun.....
This has become one of my local family favorites....for celebrations!!
When we first walked in valet was in the at the front door amd crowding around the door would not open up a door for us.
The host was rude and it looked like she was not happy at her job. Our server was good. The food was average and the atmosphere was cool. This was our first time and probably will be our last time.
I absolutely love Jd Hoyts, but was disappointed with my last experience there. I brought someone with me who has never eaten there before, and they were not impressed. Sadly, Our food was cold, and our server did not attend to us very well. Very disappointing, especially since this restaurant is one of my favorites.
The service was excellent. We have been to many other steak houses and found that they are cheaper and better than JD Hoyt's was (like Ruth Chris). It would be nice if you didn't have to order al a cart for your vegetable and potato. Cocktails were good but definitely not worth the price. All in all it was a nice place for celebrating the holiday season but we have found better values around town. Also, they charge for a valet on your bill that is in addition to the tip you give the valet.
This place has a authentic, down home atmosphere with a lot of class and great food to back it up. The pork chops are a vision that stays with you for a long time. I ate two. It was my wife's birthday and we wanted to share it in a place that feels special. It fit the bill very nicely.
We wanted to treat an out of town 90 year old guest to a North Loop supper club experience the night before Thanksgiving and chose JD Hoyt’s. Unfortunately the dinner was underwhelming. Despite an early dining time and being one of two taken tables in the dining room our server seemed uninterested in us and actually out of sorts/disgruntled from the start. It took an hour from getting our appetizer to actually getting our food... when the food arrived my steak was significantly overcooked and had to be redone. None of us got the cheese bread mentioned on the menu as being part of the entree. I would say the experience was pretty disappointing compared to our prior visits and it is hard to explain lack of attentiveness/enthusiasm from server despite a mostly empty dining room.
