JD Hoyt's Ratings and Reviews
When we first walked in valet was in the at the front door amd crowding around the door would not open up a door for us.
The host was rude and it looked like she was not happy at her job. Our server was good. The food was average and the atmosphere was cool. This was our first time and probably will be our last time.
I absolutely love Jd Hoyts, but was disappointed with my last experience there. I brought someone with me who has never eaten there before, and they were not impressed. Sadly, Our food was cold, and our server did not attend to us very well. Very disappointing, especially since this restaurant is one of my favorites.
The service was excellent. We have been to many other steak houses and found that they are cheaper and better than JD Hoyt's was (like Ruth Chris). It would be nice if you didn't have to order al a cart for your vegetable and potato. Cocktails were good but definitely not worth the price. All in all it was a nice place for celebrating the holiday season but we have found better values around town. Also, they charge for a valet on your bill that is in addition to the tip you give the valet.
This place has a authentic, down home atmosphere with a lot of class and great food to back it up. The pork chops are a vision that stays with you for a long time. I ate two. It was my wife's birthday and we wanted to share it in a place that feels special. It fit the bill very nicely.
We wanted to treat an out of town 90 year old guest to a North Loop supper club experience the night before Thanksgiving and chose JD Hoyt’s. Unfortunately the dinner was underwhelming. Despite an early dining time and being one of two taken tables in the dining room our server seemed uninterested in us and actually out of sorts/disgruntled from the start. It took an hour from getting our appetizer to actually getting our food... when the food arrived my steak was significantly overcooked and had to be redone. None of us got the cheese bread mentioned on the menu as being part of the entree. I would say the experience was pretty disappointing compared to our prior visits and it is hard to explain lack of attentiveness/enthusiasm from server despite a mostly empty dining room.
This was a rare occasion for me at Hoyt's where the service was slightly less than spectacular. To be fair, it was a tough night (busy) for a new waitress, or it would have still been exceptional. Pat, the manager, stopped by to check on us twice during our meal and accommodated us by delaying our reservation at our request, so that part was typical. As usual, the food was outstanding, staff was warm and friendly, and our dinner guests were suitably impressed. Hoyt's is always a solid choice for fine dining in Minneapolis.
Awesome...seriously, every time. If you’re interested in wood fired steak, pork chop and/or catfish (really) wirh impeccable service go to Hoyt’s. Start by ordering the “Buddy Bowl” appetizer with everything on it.
All of the waitstaff are excellent but if you’re lucky enough to get Jodi she is a true professional. I recently brought a group of international business associates there and she really made our dining experience special. She’s always fun.
I’ve been going to Hoyt’s for better than two decades and this review is long over due. I live in the Twin Cities and dine out often with variety but when I compare I always come back. The quality and value I feel are unmatched.
If you haven’t been, go. There are many reasons this establishment has been so popular for so long and if you frequent Minneapolis I’m sure you will find yourself a regular as well. JD Hoyt’s is a great and unique dining experience.
This was literally the worst service I️ have ever had at any restaurant. The server disappeared two different times for over 40 mins each time! We asked if if there was a problem at another table and she simply said no clearly not catching the drift. Best part is we told the owner on the way out and he gave us a less than heartfelt “sorry.” Food was decent but extremely cold because of the waitress so it was hard to evaluate.
A supper club outside of Wisconsin! Heavy food (steaks, chops, starches). Meats are hardwood charcoal grilled and can get you through a long winter when you miss your own grill.
Easy to 'right size' your portion of protein (filet, prime rib, and pork chop can be ordered from small to enormous).
Great food, great service, and a great time! Went to JD Hoyts with my wife and 11 year old son. My family is a FOODIE household. Ok our apps, salads, sides, entrees, and drinks were outstanding. Love the Supper Club vibe, being from WI I really appreciate that!
We haven't stopped by for a while and now I regret it mostly because they consistently make the best New York strip around! The sides are great but that main course NY strip is excellent and if that's all I have there I'm happy. Oh and get it medium-rare, they know how to cook it perfectly. had the dual chops a couple times, also a great meal. If you can sit down and eat both well good for you! I say, it's great for dinner the next day as well. Side note, the drinks and desert were also great. I very much recommend this place.
We celebrated October and September birthdays. 7 of us, my two son's, two daughter in laws and my awesome grandchildren. Anna 5 years 11 months and Benjamin 2 years 10 months. BTW they both behaved. The food is always Excellent! The drinks special, We ended our meal with grasshoppers.
The best part of the evening was my daughter in law announce a baby due I n April!
The waiter was great Andrew, first night and he was very special. He did an awesome job and even came up to me on my way out a reached out to me again Thanked me. He is a Keeper!
JD Hoyts keep up the Great Job we will be back for very Special occasions!
Arrived early and the host asked if we'd like to take our seats. Server was attentive and was the perfect connector for us and the drink & food menu. Went with cocktails, Old Fashioned, that were boozy but good. Relish tray was tasty but would prefer more pickled items. We ordered the Salmon Special with Cucumber Salad and Rice Pilaf and also the Tenderloin, peppered with pepper sauce. Very very good all around. Steak and Salmon were like BUTTER! Stayed for another beverage at the inviting old school bar, just looking forward to another visit.
