JD Hoyt's Ratings and Reviews
The food was good. Not enough non Cajun choices. I would have ordered much different if I could have had plain Bernaise sauce instead of Cajun Bearnaise cause. Or ribs done with out the Cajun rub prior to cooking. Instead I had to order off of the Appetizers menu for my meal because there I could get plain Pig Wings. Maybe some pasta without Cajun spices, that too would be awesome. We loved the relish dish, and the chips! Hash browns rocked, Mac and Cheese, delish! The pork chop, thick and juicy! The table bread should come with a warning, " wonderfully sinful, garlic and buttery". Thanks for a nice evening.
First night of a Mnpls weekend. It was cold out so we walked from the hotel in the skyway to one block from the restaurant.
We were seated immediately. Great wine list.
Pork shank app was unbelievable.
We both ordered the 8oz filet and they were amazing. Especially for the price.
Easy uber back to hotel after meal.
Will make this an every trip stop.
Ribeye steak was cut too thin. Chef could not grill the outside hot enough to even show grill marks and keep medium rare. Prime rib was a bit charcoaled on the outside and this overwhelmed the taste of the meats. Sides were awesome - risotto and penne pasta.
My number one favorite restaurant in Minneapolis! Mega prime rib is my favorite go to, but right up there are the rest of their steaks pork chops catfish and ribs!
Always excellent service-a great comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. It’s like dining with family!
JD Hoyt's is one of our favorite places to dine in the Twin Cities, and we are foodies who like to dine out a lot. The menu is mostly basic steakhouse; really really good .. with a few surprises, but the staff is what makes this place special. From the guys who park your car through the final smile and "goodbye", their friendliness and teamwork has been top notch every time we've dined. No matter how busy or quiet, and whatever the time of evening, these people make us feel completely welcome and appreciated. Somehow I usually end up building around a pork chop as the centerpiece of a meal, but other main dishes are excellent as well. We highly recommend JD Hoyt's!
We have been here before and enjoyed our food. We had the pork chops again, a medium buddy bowl, mashed potatoes and a sweet potato. The chops are very thick with a cajun seasoning cooked on a fire grill. We have had these before and they were delicious at that time. This time my pork chop was rare near the bone and dry towards the outside. I didn't notice any flavor at all. I only ate a small part of it because it just wasn't enjoyable. The buddy bowl was good, but nothing fantastic. The service was slow which was unusual as well. For almost $100 for two people without dessert we were underwhelmed this time.
I would recommend JD Hoyt's if you are hungry. Great atmosphere, excellent service, excellent food. Great value in dining out. Where else can your get two giant slow cooked and perfectly seasoned pork chops for $30? And that comes with vegetable! I ordered a scotch on the rocks from the scotch menu. The entire glass was filled with scotch and a couple of ice cubes. An amazing value in a single malt. I can't wait to go back to this place and maybe try the blackened catfish or a steak. We eat out a great deal and I wouldn't bother to write this review if this place wasn't so exceptional.
I sent in my reservation request on OpenTable asked for the VIP table for Lisa’s birthday I would think that they would’ve done something special for Lisa’s birthday as we go to the restaurant at least once a month and I saw it said Lisa’s birthday on the reservation that they had but nothing was offered the bar was very noisy with a bunch of drunks hanging over our table and just was not our normal experience and Lisa didn’t get any kind of birthday celebration or wish from JD Hoyts or the server
