Upon arrival we were asked if we were celebrating a special event... YES. A birthday. Normally we get a basic treat with a candle at the end of dinner. This time I got an inflated check with 3 items we never ordered.
I was expecting to see gloves on the wait staff as being advertised on the news but this safety regulation was not implemented. Disappointed that the owners didn’t feel this was necessary?

Usually I get the lobster which is my favorite, but this time I tried the charcoal grilled shrimp. It was probably the best shrimp I’ve ever had! Hoyts never lets you down. My clients always want to come here when they’re in town. No place else.

We've have gone to JD Hoyt's for YEARS. It's our "Go To Place" when we have a Special Occasion.
This past Saturday was busy as usual. Our Waitress was Sweet but she spent a lot of extra time at one particular table. Which meant longer than usual wait time on our Drinks & Food. I ordered a Tequila Sunrise and I sent it back after one sip. There was a HUGE amount of Grenadine in it which made it Not Only extremely "Red" but extremely "Syrupy". The waitress was kind in taking it back.
When we received our Food, EVERYTING was COLD!! (Ribs, Pork Chops and all the Vegetables). We sent the Ribs back and just requested they were removed from the Bill. When we mentioned the cold food to the Waitress she was clearly irritated with us. We were pleasant with her even though the lack of equal attention to ALL of her Tables was lacking.
We in all the years going to JD Hoyt's have NEVER been disappointed in any way.
We will definitely be back because everyone has a off day.
The service and ambience was good. However, the food was not good. The dressings for the vegetable plate were not very good. The thick dill dressing had no taste and the ranch was watered down.
For the steaks, the pepper sauce tasted like a vinegary A1 sauce. They had run put of the red wince sauce reduction.
The crust on the fish of the buddy bowl was so salty I had to scrape it off.

I have eaten at JD Hoyt’s many times through the years. The Cajun pork chop is their specialty. It was not as good as I usually experienced. Very disappointing.
I brought my fiancé to JD Hoyt's for his birthday which was also his very first time there. Everything was wonderful! Our server, Kate, was amazing!
The dining experience at Hoyt's is always a pleasurable experience. I specifically asked for Jodi who I've had as a server in the past. She's knowledgeable about the menu and brings a professional quality to the evening. She is fun and energetic. The only downside is I would have liked my own check instead of just splitting it 4 ways. The "Mega" Prime Rib was great, but the sear was a bit over on the crust.
Food, service, atmosphere were all extremely nice. We took out of town guests. They were very impressed.

Steak was shocking. Frozen and cooked poorly. Wrong raw material for a steakhouse and prepared without supervision of any kind. Disappointing.

Fantastic meal, great cajun steakhouse. The grilled banana dessert was excellent.
Large portions of good food. My husband had the thick bone-in pork chop and a side of ribs. The pork chop was tender and had a fantastic flavor. The ribs were okay but weren’t really meaty.
I had the breaded and baked bone in pork chop along with a mushroom risotto, apple chutney and butternut squash. All of it was delicious! I would have shared it if I had know how large of a portion we were getting with each entree. We took home our leftovers to enjoy the next day. We will be going back again! Great service!

Awesome calamari, swordfish was cooked perfectly, crab corn chowder was good but not my favorite.
The food was all right at best and definitely not worth the price. We will not be returning and would not recommend. There are several other places around where you can get a much better steak for about the same price.

First time at J D Hoyts and everything about it was great! The food was delicious and the service was wonderful. We will definitely be putting this on our list of return to restaurants.
From dropping off the car at valet parking, all the way through to picking it up- it was perfect. Superb wait staff, great recommendations. Excellent food. No 'over sell' for the table for appetizer sizes- and excellent meals (we all had a variety, so to pick one over the other is not fair- all were good). Will be there gain sooner, than later. And the price, for downtown was totally within reason. A value for a wonderful experience and most of all, food that was outstanding.
