JCT Kitchen and Bar Ratings and Reviews
Our son suggested JCT after dining there himself several months prior in 2017. We were in Atlanta for the night and he recommended we dine here. After reservations were made, another two family members joined us and we had a large table for 5 people. Jamison was our server and he was fantastic. I ordered the chicken and dumplings. This is roasted chicken with crispy skin and dumplings like gnocchi, fresh carrots and fresh green beans, all in a delicious light sauce. My husband ordered the fish of the day which was Mahi served with flash fried brussel spouts and cauliflower. Everyone else had the scallops. Prior to dinner, two apps were ordered for the table: truffle parmesan fries and lobster mac and cheese. Both of these were delicious. The lobster mac and cheese was enough for a meal, along with a small salad. Fresh bread from a local bakery was offered with apple spiced butter-amazing. As Jamison kept coming back to offer more bread, no one at the table turned him away! Dessert was splurged on and we all traded bites to taste around. The rum sopped coconut cake is divine, the peanut butter chocolate tart is heavenly and the seasonal apple toffee cake is worth every bite. Even though this was early on Saturday (5 p.m.), by the time we departed at 7, the restaurant was busy. Our service was quick and accurate and never missed a beat. I would recommend reservations and valet parking is offered, but self park is available with a slight walk. JCT is not a treat to be missed.
Overall, experience was good. This is our second time here and the first time we had such a great time that we returned. We made reservation for 9 and was not seated until 9:15. There were several parties that came in after us and got seated first which was very annoying. The host did not explain to us the reason and avoid eye contact with us. I am hesitant to come back again unless my guest decide they want to go here.
The service was very slow.....way too slow for lunch. We waited for several minutes before we were acknowledged and then several more for our water and seemed liked ages to get our food. We all commented on the way out how the food was good but service was exceptionally slow for lunch.
The Sunday supper was forced upon someone in my party who was not hungry and preferred to have cocktails and not dinner. The waiter said everyone at the table had to pay for the Sunday supper, until we asked for a manager. My Pork tenderloin was dry and mostly cripsy batter, the oxtails and grits were sub-par. However the fried chicken was good.
I absolutely love this place!!! I have been several times and Sunday Supper is my absolute favorite!!! Were else can you get an amazing 5 course meal for $26 per person?!?!?! I recommend this restaurant to everyone who comes into town and have taken family members and friends to celebrate special occasions here!!! 10s across the board!!!!!
I kept hearing about how great this restaurant was… Finally had the chance to check it out and it is true! Food was amazing. Enjoyed their seasonal soup, fall chopped salad and the famous fried chicken. Will definitely be back. Our server was pretty attentive; however, didn’t clear our plates when we were finished… My pet peeve.
Waitress was AMAZING! I have never encountered someone so quite informed with the products offered. Made the dinning experience that much more pleasurable. Their names were Emily and I think Amanda. I know Emily was definitely our waitress and advisor of food. SO WORTH THE EXPERIENCE>
Excellent meal and service. The Angry Mussels and Brussel sprouts were oustanding, and are a must-have for all. Was not impressed with Wine List, but the bottle we ended up ordering fit the meal. Our server was top- notch and great with the menu, and catered to our requests, by being attentive but not overbearing. If had it to do over I would not have ordered the Parmesan Truffle Fries, not because they were not wonderful, but it was just too much food, and I was not able to order a dessert. If you have not been you need to make it a priority. 👍🏻
The food and service were amazing at the upstairs, outdoor bar. However, it was 50 degrees outside and our intention was to eat inside for our 7:15PM reservation. When we arrived at 7:10, the host said they were still seating the 7PM reservations and that we could wait - They would text me when our table was ready. By 8:45PM, we had 2 rounds of drinks and 3 sets of appetizers. No one ever texted me about a table being ready. Glad everything worked out upstairs. However, if it had not, the evening would have been very frustrating.
Server was excellent: Sydney. Hostess was awful: long, dark hair & glasses-did not read OpenTable detail & annoyed when I asked for those details to be honored, didn’t check us in under reservation, etc. Minor compared to consistently excellent meals there. We had truffle fries, Angry Mussels, Chicken & Dumplings (always amazing) & Agnolotti (mouth watering). A Negroni & Westside Sour rounded out the meal. A splurge for us but ALWAYS worth the drive & cost.
