Each evening Mark begins with light jazz and dinner music and is then joined later in the evening by other talented musicians from Northern Colorado from upright bass, drums, horns, fiddles and more. Glad you asked! I've been going to Jay's steadily since the COVID bans lifted. It was wonderful: good food, great service, amazing music. In the last 6 months I've noticed a change. First, my prime rib was a sliver, 4oz not 8oz. The next time my Chicken Caesar salad was flat tasting. They would have done better to just buy bottled dressing. I expect a quality restaurant to "hand-make" their Caesar dressing. Last night I decided to give the Chicken Caesar another try. Once again, the dressing was just like mayonnaise, BORING! Caesar Cardini would be fuming! It needs "Zing"! The pizzaz comes from mustard, anchovies, vinegar and Worcestershire. Maybe they need the recipe? As always, the service there is impeccable! I always leave over a 50% tip. ($20 ticket, waiter gets $10...always!) The little girl with the long hair was wonderful last night. They take care of me. They deserve it. The band always gets $20. They're my friends. They expect it! It was dead last night for a Friday. It wasn't because of the band, it wasn't because of the service....Hmmmm, maybe they need a new chef?

Wait staff was pleasant and attentive. Salmon is fantastic, perfectly cooked and well paired (kimichi was so good). Half chicken is a much smaller portion than expected, but well seasoned and cooked. Lobster Bisque, amazing as always. We will be back.

Seems to be slipping every visit. Starters arrived 25 minutes after ordered which still beat cocktail orders taken when shortly after seated. Very slow and some food was good but some was not well prepared. I think we are tapping out of jays after all of these years.

My husband and I dined just last night and it was our first time at Jay’s. We were celebrating our 23rd anniversary and the ambiance was intimate and romantic where we were seated in the back area of the restaurant. The phenomenally talented musicians playing live jazz added to the ambiance and the noise level was perfect for conversation. Our server was attentive, professional, and conversational and the pistachio-crusted walleye was amazing. It was truly an all-around wonderful experience!

The duck confit was excellent, but the bibb salad was not good. It tasted like a salad out of a bag… Actually, most salads I’ve had out of a bag are better. Not impressed at all with the quality of the salad, and it makes me wonder if the quality of the restaurant as a whole has gone down since the last time I was there. It was also overly cold in the restaurant, which made it hard to be comfortable.

Arancini app and Walleye meals were exceptional. The bison ribeye prep was good but nothing like the first time I had it. Suggest that it needs another vegetable side to go with it to round out the meal too. Afterwards, we enjoyed a bourbon and listening to exceptional jazz in the bar area. Service was very good this evening.

The service and atmosphere was nice… however we were out in a small room with several other large tables of people that were very loud and made our time there miserable… some of the people came and stood and talked to a large table of people and it was rude of them to be so loud.We paid a lot of money for expensive food and couldn’t wait to leave. It was too loud for us to hear each other and one of us has tinnitus and it was not comfortable. If we go back we will ask for a small private booth not in small room of people but probably won’t go back.

It was a very quiet Tuesday night and my friend was in town for business. Lobster bisque was the highlight--this is not an easy one to get right for some reason as I've been unimpressed many times at other places. The walleye came out very moist and flavorful and my friend's chicken Napoli impressed as well.

I went to Jay’s Bistro for an anniversary. I was surprised that it was much less busy than I would have thought as it seemed difficult to get a reservation. First of all, my service was excellent. The hostess and server were wonderful. We even got evening recommendations for what all was going on in town. Me and my wife shared a rib eye, ordered medium rare. Steak was delivered rare, which was fine with me but a bit off putting for my wife. Most of the food had great flavor otherwise, with the exception of the lavender flavored butter, and maybe that just isn’t my thing. Overall vibe was classy, and very quiet, but I was not blown away by the food.

It took longer than it should have because priority was given to a wedding rehearsal group. However, we were not in a rush, and Jay's does not rush us. We like the ambience at Jay's Bistro!

Great venue!! Food was very much on point (Kudos to the Chef!!) but service was slow and I couldn’t tell if it was the bartender or our server lol. It was DEAD in the dining room and the bar so maybe someone was being trained tonight. Either way, I’d still recommend but for this high level of a restaurant ($300 for 2 adults and a child), I’d expect better.
