Simply the best! As always .
The noise level was above normal. Too loud for table conversation
The service was slow. We ordered and waited at least 60 minutes for our food.
The waitress didn’t come over until I reached out to her. She made an excuse for the kitchen. We saw numerous tables seated, served and leaving before we received our meal. The waitress offered dessert on the house but , again, we waited 20 minutes for the dessert and coffee. Adding insult to injury. When my guest complained on the low service her response was “ really?”. Another mistake.
Overall I would never recommend this restaurant.
Our guests were long time dear friends from out of town. It was an embarrassment for my husband and myself.
Best bartenders in the city. Amazing steak frites and incredible veggie burger
This a charming little restaurant. The back patio is beautiful. The service and food were both wonderful. I can’t wait to eat here again.
Still after all these years one of my favorite spots.
Delicious dinner, the patio was gorgeous. It was small and cozy.
We've been to Jayne's twice, once for their special Thanksgiving Day menu, and the second time for dinner with friends. The entrees are inspired and delicious. The vegetarians and meat eaters alike were content with the selections offered. One complaint, the Shepherd's Pie did not contain much lamb. The dish was overpowered by the mashed potato.
I made reservations for Easter brunch. I wish the menu was available online so we had a better idea of what to order. I ordered the brioche French toast and I loved it.
Sat outside for brunch on a tiny patio on Easter Sunday next to a large, loud party of 12. Not fun. Ordered famous fish & chips which were soggy ☹️
I have always enjoyed Jayne's and this time was no different. The food and service we both great and I recommend sitting on the back patio.
Great food and service. The seabass dish was outstanding. We all had a great meal and time.
Went here for first meal in San Diego, visiting from Seattle and Denver. Father daughter dinner, choose the patio to chat. Little noisy inside. Heated patio. Attentive servers, warned when ordered a longer prep dinner entree. Shepherds pie was delicious, perfect comfort food after a day of travel. Dad had the fish and chips and raved about them. Fresh side of peas stole the show.
I was drawn here primarily by the news that Jayne's had added the vegan Impossible Burger and also that it was a pub-style atmosphere. We found the place was very cozy and darkly romantic. The server was very attentive, and informative.
The burger's preparation was so good, I was fooled into thinking that it was meat.
The meal was excellent....everyone enjoyed their selections. The wine was outstanding and only equaled by the great service. The only problem is the noise level and I am not sure that it could be remedied given the space. Perhaps if Jayne’s could expand that issue would be taken into consideration.
I hadn't been to Jayne's in a few years but it was just as wonderful as I remembered. A good, simple menu. Delicious food, good service and a great atmosphere. It's very comfortable and inviting here.
This restaurant is very small so the place gets loud very fast in a full house. Not a good spot if you want to have a conversation. Ordered a medium rare burger and it came out rare :/ At $20 I expected a great, perfect burger. It was tasty and I did not send it back because I didn't feel like dealing with another hassle. My drink order (gin & tonic) was made wrong twice. On top of that, I was questioned if I was "sure" the alcohol was not gin! Seriously?
To be balanced, my friends said their halibut was good.
The experience would have been much better if the service hadn’t been so terrible.
We enjoyed the quaint venue, tasty Shepherd's pie and good wine.
Good food. Lovely decor. Loud child screeching for a bit....but that finally ceased when the group left with toddler in tow. Would come back again, and would certainly recommend to friends.
Most places call themselves “gastro pubs” when they’re really just fancy pubs. This is the real deal. Eclectic menu. Everything done very well.
The shepherd's pie was excellent - as were the Manhattans.
Great neighborhood restaurant. Food is always delish and service is excellent.
This was my second visit, and it did not disappoint. I ate the special which was perfectly cooked scallops with risotto. My girlfriend had the steak frites. Both dishes were unbelievable on their own, but combined nicely for surf and turf. The wine was great, the wait staff was great, overall 10/10!
Our men's book club meets frequently at Jaynes lured by the ambiamce, great service and superior quality of the food. We prefer seating either at the front table facing the street window or the charming open air courtyard in the back. The book club members are a 'happy go lucky' group, and the staff generally adds to the bonhomie spirit. We've enjoyed the excellent wine list and drink selections. The appetizers and special menu selections are generally superb, whil pricey. We alternate our book club venues monthly, but we regularily return to Jaynes as our favorite. We generally meet monthly on Tuesday evenings.
My wife and I visited on Presidents Day. I had Fish and Chips. She the Eggplant dish.
Love their food
Had a wonderful time with a group of girls!
Our experience was great!
For sure one of my top 5 places in SD. I wish I could keep that secret but their success ensures I can keep coming back!
I always enjoy dinner at Jayne's. It's one of my favorite San Diego restaurants. Great food and drinks and ambiance. We never miss the wiener schnitzel. It's a special treat when it's on the menu. Excellent selection of beer and wines here too.
Had another great time at Jayne‘s Gastropub. We went for the schnitzel and were not disappointed. The food, wine, the service - all wonderful.
As always Jaynes was great We went for the schnitzel which is s twice a year special Quite good not to be missed
Get the Impossible Burger!!! I have always wanted to try this veggie burger and Jayne's was the first to offer it. It was cooked perfectly and super delicious!
Beautiful spot, but a bit loud. Overall we had a mediocre at best food experience. My steak was supposed to be medium rare but was rare through half. Server didn’t ent check in, so by the time we got his attention we were just ready to wrap. They did comp a dessert that was nice. Won’t be going back unfortunately.
One of the best restaurants in town
Excellent cocktails. My salmon was good; my companion's lamb was way too gamey for me - but then, he ordered it, not me! Service was very good, and I love the atmosphere in the rear patio.
We went for the Restaurant Week dinner and were very happy with everything. The cocktails were particularly good and the food was excellent. I had the filet mignon which was perfectly prepared and accompanied by a nice vegetable selection. Staff were great. This was one of the most enjoyable meals I have had for a while.
Tried this place during SDRW. We weren’t disappointed. The food was great... filet, lamb kabobs, goat cheese soufflé. The Halibut was over cooked and dry but the rest was great. Cute restaurant with outdoor area too. We’ll definitely be back.
Food and service was great. However, so many hard surfaces made the sound very loud. Very difficult to hear each other. We ordered a glass of port after the meal. It was excellent but the glass I had was a bit "unclean".
Awesome pub with a real British vibe. Make sure and try the Impossible Burger and the Sticky Toffee Pudding!
