About Jayne's Gastropub
Jaynes is San Diego's trailblazing first and only Brit owned Gastropub. The eclectic menu features gourmet takes on pub classics using local, organic and sustainably farmed produce, meats and seafood. Beverage highlights include the city's most avant garde wine list from wine director Jon Erickson, a world class craft cocktail program and a broad beer list on draft and in bottles. The beautiful old world interior and garden patio is reminiscent of London and San Francisco and rates among the most charming in the entire city. Utterly non-corporate, Jaynes is the local's secret darling on North Park's 30th street.

Jayne's Gastropub Ratings and Reviews
This was my 3rd visit and usually the food is terrific. This time it was a Monday night, we took some friends who love mussels and Jayne's has the best. We didn't know it was a Thursday night only thing. Then wour friend ordered a special to be told they were out of it & out of his favorite beer. My meal was too salty, so I think we hit a bad night. Will give it one more try on a Thursday night!
The patio area of Jayne's is our neighborhood go to for date nite or a small group of couples. It's about the last place in our neighborhood for quiet unrushed dining. There's also the option of the bar or front of the house for a more lively experience. Great happy hour too.
I can't say enough about their Wednesday nite fried chicken with greens. Love the Caesar salad too.....old school and delish. Lamb's shepherds pie was great too.
Robert is an awesome server and did I mention they have an interesting wine list?
We dined at Jayne's during Restaurant Week. For that event, they had an excellent choice of items on the menu. $40 included a first course, entree, and dessert. The food was memorable: delicious lamb kebabs and a pollo verde soup for first course; a heavenly scallops on a lovely sauce surrounding pearled couscous and veggies; and yummy profiteroles. The waiter recommended just right wines by the glass for each course. My husband even complimented the espresso. We sat in the garden, which was lovely, but our table was right next to a door to a noisy extension of the kitchen, which everyone entering and leaving did not remember to close. The noise was distracting. I recommend sitting elsewhere in the outdoor garden.
Back patio was nice - went during Restaurant Week - 8 PM reservation and the place was not terribly busy at that point. Initial service was good, greeted kindly. Unfortunately by 9:30/10 PM we still had not received our food. With a RW menu only consisting of 6 items this wait is highly unacceptable. We received a 'free' round of drinks but with a tab still consisting of $100 this seemed hardly worth it. Food was good/above avg but not up to that price point - and not after a 2 hours sitting waiting. I would not recommend this dining facility.
Found this restaurant from Restaurant Week, and so glad I did! The food was delicious, just the right portions - from goat cheese souffle with apple fennel salad to bacon wrapped filet mignon with white corn purée to profiteroles with gelato, every bite was decadent. The service was friendly and prompt, and I dug the busy British pub feel. Will definitely be back!
We went to Jayne's for restaurant week 2016. The food and service were FABULOUS! Would recommend to anyone for that!
HOWEVER.....the noise inside was terrible! My husband and I were at a two-person table off t the side and we had to literally scream at each other the entire meal. . I actually had a sore throat when we left! The restaurant wasn't even that full. IF we go back, and that will be a while, we'll try the patio.
Not sure if we'd recommend because of the noise. If we did recommend, we'd definitely mention how noisy it is.
It was restaurant week and my birthday. Been meaning to try out the place. Started with goat cheese tart which was light and flaky then had the bacon wrapped filet mignon which was cooked to perfection and delicious! Sticky toffee pudding dessert was so-so. My husband told them it was my bday, but didn't get any compensation. Glasses of wine start at $10 and beer pints start at $8.50 which is a bit on he high side, but I would definitely return just for the food!
The food was very good. This being our first time at Jaynes, I was pleasantly surprised. The staff was accommodating, the service was timely and not rushed. Short ribs were superb, as was the mussell appetizer.
However, when I made the reservation on open table, I noted that we were celebrating our anniversary. This was never acknowledged.
All this being said, we do intend to return because the food was that good. And we really did enjoy ourselves.
In my opinion, and as a 30 year resident and food enthusiast in San Diego, Jayne's Gastropub is one of San Diego's most fabulous restaurants! Hands down. The food is lip-lickable, the vibe is on-the-money, and the service is just the type of neighborhood friendly you would expect. They ALWAYS get it right. This is truly a gem of a spot...A true restaurant sleeper.
I am picky about food. This place always delights. I've never had a meal that wasn't superb. Owner and staff are great- knowledgeable, down to earth, easy to like. The menu is varied and delightful without being overwhelming. Good wine list and a few signature cocktails. Nothing ostentatious.
This is where I take friends, when I want to be certain that the evening/meal is a sure thing.
I was really looking forward to eating here after reading the reviews. We ordered the short ribs and lamb shepherds pie (as its supposed to be with lamb!). The shorts ribs were average at best and the pie was a potato pie, not a meat pie. It was fully loaded with the potato top but with only a thin layer of meat and vegetables. I ordered a beer with dinner and a waitress came by and just took my glass when it was empty without pausing or saying anything. Our waiter never came back to see if I wanted another. We didn't feel welcome nor did we find the food worth the hefty price for pub food.
Our food was amazing and the service was awesome. The restaurant adorable and they have a really cute backyard for outdoor dining. It's not overpriced for what it is, and if you're looking for a nice dinner in the NP area, this is definitely the place! We will be going back!
Food was excellent. The burger is not to be missed....sounds like a sad choice but excellent. Service is a little on the slow side; but that's common place for these small, intimate restaurants. Great cocktail menu.
Sitting outside is amazing; beautiful courtyard dining area.
Jayne's never disappoints. We had a reservation for 6:45, but showed up early and they happily sat us. The waitress was friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu and wine selection. Her recommendations were spot on. This is a little gem and will be eating here again very soon.
Jayne's is a wonderful gastropub with a great selection of wine, beer and mixed drinks, and truly excellent food. There is a fun bar and dining room with a romantic garden in back. We shared mussels, the duck entree and a desert all of which were very very good. The Jayne Burger is the best burger in San Diego County. We will come back to Jayne's again and again.
the place is lovely. the staff is great. the food is very good but not out of this world.
we had the lamb kebabs, the gambas (shrimp), the ribs, Also had the salad but it did not taste fresh and crisp and had to much dressing but they were very nice when i told them about it and they didn´t charge us for it. The drinks were good to.
The sauvignon blanc from France is delicious and not expensive at all.
