It's a honey of a restaurant. Always on our favorites list.
We ate outside on the patio - lovely with heaters so I can imagine how nice it would in the summer. Menu is fairly limited but varied but definitely enough choices and I think that is great. My lamb shepherd's pie was so good and both of my friends had the fish and chips. They both liked it - nice portion.

Excellent food in a beautiful setting. Love the outdoor seating. An urban oasis. Everything was fresh and delicious.

Jaynes is a wonder mix of British and Italian traditions and one of the gems of the neighborhood. Always a treat!
The waiting staff was very nice. Food was excellent though I wasn’t expecting it to have that much spiciness to it. My daughter and I switched plates b. It was too spicy for her. Both plates tasted great in my opinion. The choice in rose was very good. Light and delicate. A bit drafty at times but understandable because it was cold that night. We’ll be dining there again in the future.
One of our favorite places to dine. Great specials, good wine list, always excellent service and the courtyard dining is charming. Go and enjoy!
Went there for restaurant week to give it a try and fell in love. Took some friends to share the goodness and was seated at the worst table in the house. Outside patio on a freezing night right at the door. We were constantly getting bumped into. Waitress while very nice was WAY to pushy. Came to ask for our order twice before we even had our drinks, then every two minutes after. It was like being at Denny's. Food was great, service was gone after food arrived. Too bad. Was ready to make this a favorite. Not any more. Too many other places to enjoy. Left and went to Et Voila for dessert and aperitif. Much better way to end the evening.
Jaynes never fails to deliver. Inside is a bustling gastropub, outside is a quiet garden patio. Either way, the food, drinks and service are usually top notch. Love this place.
A party of four ladies were obnoxiously loud! No one in the dining room could enjoyed their own private conversations. What a shame. The food and service is outstanding!
This was our first visit to Jayne's (after reading several good things over the past year) so we tried it out for Restaurant Week--3 courses for $40. We all tried a different starter and all 3 were terrific--goat cheese soufflé with salad, pozole verde soup, & lamb kabobs. The gnocchi with chicken and peas had a terrific sauce, and the filet mignon was cooked perfectly. The sticky toffee pudding was dry compared to others (not sticky) but had a good taste. The profiteroles with pistachio gelato and warm chocolate pour were the best we have ever had ever! We will definitely return to this restaurant for such a good food experience:)
Nice patio for quiet outdoor seating, well heated. Indoors is a little noisy. Tasty quality food. Friendly and proactive Customer Service.

We had a lovely time at Jayne's Gastropub for Restaurant week. The food was very good: Bacon wrapped Filet Mignon (6 ounces) with perfectly prepared asparagus, vegetables or mashed potatoes, preceded by a flavorful goat cheese soufflé with Frisee and fennel salad. Profiteroles for dessert.. Excellent service, excellent wine list. Two issues if they can be called that: noise level is high and parking is difficult, or at least it was for this week.. We will go back to try other interesting items on the menu! Highly recommend this restaurant.

A decade or so ago, there were not that many options for a high quality, low fuss meal in town. Sure, you could dress up and go to Mr. A's, or join the masses at one of the chain steak restaurants, but the gastro pub movement hadn't arrived in San Diego... then Jayne's opened, and it was, and continues to be a great restaurant for quality British style food. An elevated fish & chips, an outstanding short rib with mashed potatoes and (as we recently had) one of the best duck dishes in town.
Definitely worth making a reservation for - North Park is sparse on venues in the first place, and Jayne's is always going to get full; There is a good wine selection as well, or a corkage fee if you've been saving a special bottle - and you will definitely find something here with which to pair it. No fussy cocktails or dress codes either, so you can mark an occasion or just come to enjoy a fantastic meal.

This was our second year in a row having Thanksgiving dinner at Jayne’s Gastropub. I know I wasn’t this stuffed last year! The food was as plentiful as it was delectable. Chris provided excellent service! We hope to make it to Christmas Eve dinner two years in a row as well!
Great meal. Better fish and chips than I had in London and Liverpool.
My husband and I dine often here and enjoy the food an ambience however this time we were very disappointed in the quality of our meal.
First we ordered Cesar salads to share and we’re asked if it should

Don’t really care either way so we said sure included them however we were not informed
It’s a 2 dollar upchare to add anchovies ( which we really don’t care about ) so now our starter salad Turned into at 16 dollar salad. It was the simplest of salads that we have ever had at a restaurant, not sure that it commanded such a heavy price!
Then I order the halibut which was served in a liquid sauce, and was so spicy it was virtually an edible. Again the waitress never notified me that it was a spicy dish, and I never experienced that before at that restaurant.
My husband switch entrées with me and agreed it was the worst price of fish he had ever eaten! I ate his hamburger, which he has ordered numerous times in the past. Our waitress suggested if he didn’t want french fries he could do a salad or veggies, again did not notify him that there would be an up charge for that and to a considerable amount.
Frankly we love this restaurant and have dined here here for many years but this is the first time our meal was far than satisfactory and we were misinformed the entire meal about up charges etc. The fish we ordered was very thin and not of the highest quality which were very surprised as we’ve never experienced that at this restaurant before. I would think twice about coming here in the future, but the ambience is so lovely and we usually love the service and the attention to detail so something has changed.
I hope they read this and make necessary changes. We love the restaurant. As there are so many Dining options these days and they can be costly, we hope they listen to these criticisms and make adjustments as necessary..

One of my favorite places to eat in San Diego. The food is excellent, love the cozy outside courtyard and the service is always spot on.
Lovely atmosphere and delicious food. Only criticism was that it took a while for our food and dessert to come out. Great place for a celebratory dinner.

We loved the atmosphere, the welcoming service and the small restaurant boutique vibe. The martini was perfect as was the salad. Unfortunately, the meats in the main dishes were less than excellent selections and both were under cooked. Mine was the short ribs which should be slow cooked until very tender. They were not.
