Jaya at the Setai Ratings and Reviews
Great ambiance outdoors. There was an event at the other end of the courtyard with live music, which was nice but also a little hard to have a conversation--don't think it's usually this loud. We were looking forward to having a bit of the Indian dishes but were a bit disappointed as they were bland for our tastes--but probably good for the non-Asian palate. The tikka sea bass was good. The kids enjoyed the fried rice, short rib gyoza and the Peking duck. Service was excellent.
Good one time experience but nothing we'd come back for in terms of a meal. We'd definitely recommend for a drink and apps.
As lovers of spicy food we thought we would try Jaya as it was within waling distance of our hotel. Its expensive eg 2 mains and 2 beers $100, but as we have realised so is nearly everywhere in Miami south beach for a reasonable dinner.
The food is lovely and portion sizes good, but if you like proper spicey ask for extra chilli as its on the mild side for most dishes.
The service was superb, food was great- although a bigger selection would be good ( I went for lunch). I also really liked the atmosphere. We had the shrimp dumplings- ate all four!- soo good! Grilled octopus, Pad Thai and strawberry almond tart. I loved - like really loved the cucumber martinis!!
If you want a nice relaxing experience with beautiful and tasty food with top service.. you should go here!
Jaya is such a gorgeous restaurant set around a pool in a balmy courtyard in the Setai lobby. It's all twinkly lights and warm luxe decor. The service was attentive and warm and not at all stuffy and the food was good. Delicious dumplings and Peking duck. Food wise it's not absolutely outstanding but the great ambiance makes it a really special night. The DJ was really excellent, creating a fun vibe without the music taking over. Great spicy cocktail. It was pricey but hey, that's what you expect from a restaurant in a super luxurious South Beach hotel.
The food was good and the staff was great. The environment was great, nice dim lighting and the music was just enough that it was not distracting which you can carry a conversation. The seating is well thought up so that you are not surrounded giving much space. Great spot which I would recommend for all type of settings.
The covered courtyard patio ambiance was perfect for our anniversary dinner and better as the sun went down. We were seated at a two person table at one end of the water feature, in opinion the best seat for special occasions. There is enough variation in the menu to be as adventurous as you want with the Asian based cuisine. We noted it was our 5th year wedding anniversary in our reservation and we're presented with dessert sampling after dinner. Great overall experience with excellent service.
This was by far the most amazing restaurant ive been to in miami... the food and the service was impeccable.. too bad we only ate here once...:( i cannot wait to return ,this place had the most gorgeous lounge area with bar, water and palm trees illuminating the whole outdoor area !! Love love love
This is my go to place in Miami for special occasions, business meals and visitors from out of town. A haven of sophistication hidden in the bustle of South Beach. Staff are always attentive without overstepping or interrupting conversation. faultless! food is always outstanding and best brunch on the beach without a doubt
Incredibly romantic setting in the courtyard. Definitely try to get a seat there. The Duck is to dye for and is a must eat. If you have ever had authentic Beijing Duck you will know that this is the real deal. Good cocktails and a vibrant bar scene. All in all a romantic and enjoyable dinner experience.
Decent Indian food . Thai options were passable. Kid friendly. Good kids options- not on menu but the restaurants can arrange. Amazing ambience- prefer to sit outside. Service was ok- not great. Was charged for plain water- which is a bit odd given other high end places in US (Miami included) don't do it
Overall, need to do more, food and service wise to be a top notch food option in Miami's food landscape
Valentines Day, everything was perfect until the end when I ordered a cappuccino and as I'm stirring it I notice that there's something inside and it was the lid of a milk bottle. I just told the waiter and really didn't want to make a big deal about it. It really bumped me out a little bit since everything was amazing and I thought I was getting my money's worth until this happened.
To begin, we did not know this restaurant was inside a hotel, but what a hotel. The entire vibe was muted Asian elegance. We sat 'outside' their dining room in their open garden area, but were never really 'outside'. I'll mention costs only for comparison perspective. Glasses of wine were $12-$18; amazing cocktails were $16-$20.. we rarely order bottles for just the two of us, but the wine book was thick & heavy.. The menu promises pan-Asian fusion apps & entrees, from India to Japan to Malaysia. We chose their 'Thai' Salmon in a delicate yet mild curry and the Grouper in a thick ginger & chili sauce. Both were excellent. This is definitely a spot to check out for escape from the usual MB hotel fare. Drinks + app (Mushroom gyoza) + entrees + tip = $165.
