Jaya at the Setai Ratings and Reviews
We went there for the third time and i always had the „pecking duck“ this dish is one of the best ive ever ate.
The dumplings are delicious.
Our Servers Gretchen and Ashley were phenomenal, very attentive and so warming!
Over all a fantastic dining experience.
We‘ll definately go there back!
I ask for a special location with private view, we were seating at the patio next to the exit to Hotel pool and beach, (LOVE IT) perfect seating.. they accomplish my request, decor was perfect for Valentines, quiet nice dinner to be with your love half, to talk and.......;-)
The food is excellent, I do not know the chef name but for 2018 valentines menu selection was perfect. Don't go for a big dinner since this is a gourmet restaurant. Service was good very friendly. I love the place, the night and my company. Try it it is worth it...
I enjoyed it, despite being sat over on the side of the restaurant with the view of two door s in our face. We had a 6:30pm reservation which should have allowed for some flexibility in the seating space, but none was offered despite our request. Not very luxury. But good food and service nevertheless.
The best service I've received in Miami. Not only was our server attentive, but each server that presented the food was knowledgeable about the dish. The romantic and peaceful ambiance added to the already amazing experience. The food was outstanding and the dumplings are a must!!
Where do I begin? Jaya was everything my partner and I could have asked for and more in a restaurant. From the décor to the food and the service, everything was perfect from the moment we walked in. We tried a number of dishes, all of which would fit right onto a list of 'best of' Asian cuisines. From Sashimi and steamed dumplings to Peking duck and Wagyu Ribeye, the flavors were out of this world with beautiful presentations to match. Our server, Ksenia, was very attentive and made wonderful suggestions on wines to pair with our dinner. 5 stars. We will be back next week.
I don’t leave reviews often, but my meal at Jaya was so delicious that it inspired me to share the experience. I dined with a friend, but walking into the restaurant I couldn’t help thinking that it would also be the perfect location for a romantic date night — the low lighting, rich dark woods and the outdoor courtyard are beautiful. We both ordered the Chili Passion Martini, which has been a favorite of mine for many years. I was already dreaming about the cocktail when we arrived. It’s well balanced and a little sweet, with just the right amount of kick. To start, we had a beautiful plate of sashimi (salmon, hamachi and tuna) that melted in our mouths along with the Thai Beef Salad. Then our favorite part of the meal - the Dim Sum Dumplings. We couldn’t decide which to select so we ordered a sampler. All four were absolutely amazing! The Shortrib Gyoza with wagyu, foie foam and chili oil was my favorite, and my friend was in love with the Truffle Dumplings. They were all so good that I could have eaten the entire order on my own. Next came the Peking Duck, which was a delight. The skin was crispy and the meat was tender but not too fatty. It was served with steamed pancakes and cucumbers. With the duck, we also had the Panang Curry with Grouper — amazing! The fish was perfectly cooked and the panang had a great flavor. This is definitely not your typical thai restaurant curry. By the time we got to dessert we were definitely satisfied but we wanted to finish the meal with something sweet so we had the Green Tea Creme Brûlée and it did not disappoint. I’ve been recommending Jaya to everyone and can not wait to return.
Combine great food, excellent service and an scenic view, and you have yourself an evening to remember. I brought my boyfriend to Jaya for a romantic date night and we couldn't have chosen anywhere better.
First, our server Marcos was quick, attentive and answered all our questions with a smile. To start, we ordered the chili passion martini. All I have to say is that - there's a reason why it has been on the menu for so many years. It's sweet, with a kick - must try!!!
For dinner, we shared the Peking duck, truffle dumplings and Thali platter. The platter was our favorite as it's an excellent choice for sharing. The pot with chicken marsala didn't last long - truly delicious!
For dessert, we shared the panna cotta which was a sweet way to finish the night. We waddled out gazing upon the gorgeous outdoor view, with full bellies and a huge smile. Will recommend again and can't wait to go back!
This was hands down one of the best meals I’ve had recently. We started with the Chili Passion Martini - it was amazing.... it is the cocktail I have been searching for, the perfect amount of sweet and spicy. Our waitress was great and explained the entire menu. We decided to do the tasting menu so we could try a little bit of everything and I’m so happy we did. I couldn’t make up my mind what dumpling to order, so with the tasting menu we got two of each dumpling. All the dim sum was so delicious. Great flavor and texture, my favorites were the truffle dumpling that had scallops and shrimp and I also loved the chive dumpling - but all four were great. We also had the sashimi platter, it was so fresh it melted in your mouth. For our next course we had the shrimp pad thai, Panang curry with grouper and the Peking Duck - everything was delicious. We paired all of this with a great cold dry sake that was recommended by our waitress. With each bite we were blown away. By the time dessert came, we were pretty full, but my favorite was the green tea creme brûlée. Overall this meal was amazing, and I highly recommend it for a special occasion.
Exceptional service. Attention to detail. The new exec chef, Chef Vijay, is amazing. Everything was absolutely perfect. His sea bass tikka, thali platter with lamb and chicken and truffle dumplings were delish. For drinks the Saigon gimlet is a must and save some room for the passion fruit donuts...Yum! Beautiful restaurant that stands up to the world class The Setai brand.
This was my first time dining at Jaya at The Setai and it didn't disappoint. Since I cut drinking in January, they were quick to offer me a Lychee Ginger mock-tail which was just as good as any cocktail! The menu has something for everyone and has some great vegetarian options. My date and I shared the Chive dumplings, Blue Fin Tuna and Sashimi to start. It was some of the freshest fish I have had in Miami. I had the Coconut Soup with Vegetables for my main and it was the perfect amount of coconut flavor. Everything was phenomenal including the service. They were very attentive and knowledgeable.
With the exception of the nice chap that served the water this was a truly dreadful experience.
The server could not care less, hot food was served with freezing cold plates. Chicken tikka came warm on a cold warmer.
We had to pour our own wine.
In a city with great restaurants this is one to miss.
Such a shame
Food arrived after a 90 minute wait - some of which was ok - the rest was cold or barely warm. Dishes were missing and despite the waitress trying her very best we would be loathe to return. Cocktails took forever to arrive too so couldn’t even get tipsy whilst waiting to be fed! The reservation had been messed up for both timings and number of diners! Not impressed at all - no wonder other South Beach restaurants all seemed to be fully booked except this one!
I usually only review NEW or past restaurants that have gone UP or DOWN - this one is the latter!
We eat out a lot in MBeach and have been to Setai 5-6 times in 2017.. all were very good experiences despite being v.expensive, but the experience and quality/taste were worth it! NOT this time (Dec. 28, 2017; wife Bday+kids)!!
The menu has shrunk with the interesting and inventive dishes gone (started in 2nd half of 2017!), making you wonder if the (Exec)Chef has left and only sous-chefs are in the house and not empowered/allowed/willing to develop new dishes or bring back previous (winner) ones... a shrinking and uninventive menu typically bodes badly for a place (Same as for Sakura 763)!
Service was not good at all - timing was off, wine (which I continue to argue is WAY overpriced!) arrived after appetizers; had to ask for plates & cutlery to share appetizers which were placed on the table and getting cold; nobody automatically refilling water glasses unless asked... seemed like they were WAY understaffed and then not properly/fully trained! Manager admitted to that, but that's all he said! Simply NOT acceptable for the price-point they are asking ... they might survive like that on the hotel-guests for a while, but NOT for long!
Instead of going there about every 6-8 weeks, I am afraid this will be at best 1 time a year now (meaning one more chance for redemption, but if that is bad too, it's game over)!
The dishes we had were still very nice, but they are getting old!!! Price is high, and the experience was NOT worth it this time - Go to NARAYA instead if you want some Asian (Indian) Fusion... SoBe is still lacking a high quality reasonably priced and good/inventive Asian Fusion place!
