This is a special magical place. Very unusually good food, exceptional anticipatory service and s wonderful ambience. The outdoor gallery is particularly exotic but mind the many smokers who hang there. My sinuses objected even though there was some heavy fans clearing the air. Expensive but not an every day experience.
Over priced Chinese food and terrible inattentive service. A 20 percent gratituity is already added to the bill so I guess that explains it. The out side area is very nice tho.
Food was great but service is a disaster. We tried to order drinks at the bar for 25 minutes before dinner and we were totally ignored by the staff. We have asked 8 times to the staff and no one wanted to take the order. When we finally got to our table, we had to wait for 30 more minutes before someone showed up. The music is so loud that you absolute can’t hear the person sitting next to you. Impossible to have a decent conversation.
We sat outside and enjoyed a quiet, delicious dinner. The branzino was perfect, the duck was spicy and filling and the dim sum was light and expertly prepared. We enjoyed a girls dinner here on a quite Sunday night and would happily go back.
As this was my first time visiting the Jaya restaurant at the Setai, I have to say that my biggest disappointment was the service. My sister and I visited on a Sunday evening, which we were expecting the restaurant to not be so busy, which it wasn't. While the ambiance, drinks, and food were amazing, I have to say the service was not up to par once our food was brought to the table. After the entree, our waitress was nowhere to be seen, dessert came and my sister and I waited for 25 minutes for the check to be brought. While this was a great time to digest the food and have a conversation, I constantly noticed that the waitress continued to pass by the tables around us and still paid no attention to my sister and I. Constantly trying to get her attention we failed and I had to end up getting up from my chair to ask what seemed like the owner of the restaurant for the bill.
It’s a beautiful place to eat and the food was good. I was just disappointed with our hostess. She was really aloof to us and I felt like she was not really there to help us. She was walk away and not back for 30 minutes. When she came to us and asked if we needed a few minutes, I said yes. She didn’t come back for 30 minutes, but was serving everyone Elsa. Pretty much the service was like that the entire night. I was really disappointed.
Jaya was magnificent and I totally understand why it has been touted as one of the best brunches in South Beach. Every item was delectable! I was there for a special birthday brunch and everyone loved it! Will be difficult to top this for next year and I will definitely be back soon.
Thoroughly enjoyed the dining outside with tasty appetizers, entrees and desserts. It was our favorite spot on the Miami Spice 2018 selections.
The food was outstanding as was the service . The only think I did not like is that 75% of the service personnel were interns from Indonesia. Mind you, they were excellent but there prevalent use was clearly to minimize labor costs for the restaurant. These should be American jobs.
And on fridays they have entertainment that makes the evening more special
I was really looking forward to the dinner, but ended up very disappointed :0(. Service was ok, food took forever and was not great, and the $10 bottle of sparkling water (of which my friend only had 1 1/2 cups) threw me over the top. I would not recommend to anyone.
Ambience was amazing and so was the food! Cannot believe we did not try this hidden gem for this many years
Wagyu beef with peppers was not really wagyu. It was pretty tough to be wagyu. I suggest they stop misleading clients. Food was meh...taste and presentation can be had someplace else at half the price. You pay for the ambience.
Great place. Great views and the dancing lady. Enjoyed miami spice menu
I went to Jaya for a family dinner, the food was very good as always! Table outside by the pool, amazing view!
SUCH GOOD FOOD!!!!! Everything about this place is magical
Desert was very cheap (Miami spice menu chocolate something)
Absolutely amazing atmosphere, very aesthetically pleasing.
Very well appointed Asian Fusion Restaurant with a great Vibe and ambience. I found the service to be a bit of a let down, which surprised me as the restaurant was not busy and staff were not run off their feet. There was a compulsory 20% service charge + taxes added to an already pricey menu. The food, when finally served, was above average, but a bit intense. The Fried Rice was too intensely flavoured with Indian spices. However, the complimentary Edamame served as an appetizer was a nice touch, and were delicious and expertly prepared. The staff seemed to lack training and didn't realise that Edamame is eaten with your hands, and therefore require a finger bowl in between courses. I guess when you take into account that it was part of a 5 star hotel with an unmatched and cosy Alfresco garden style dining option on offer with above average food, it rated 4 stars from this critic.
Chef Veejay is the best chef in Miami! I would dine at Jaya every day if possible!
The bus boy had much better service skills than our waiter did. Customer service should be a priority....also although the food was tasty it definitely wasn't the best I've ever had nor were the portions appropriate, which both should be priorities also considering how much you pay to eat here
Fantastic dining experience. The main dining area and smaller private area both look out to their beautiful courtyard (in which you can also be seated) making for amazing ambiance.
The service here is great. The staff are very attentive and courteous.
The food is awesome. My wife and I tried their Miami Spice menu, which is very nicely arranged with quite a few choices for each course and nicely sized portions. We had the pork dumplings, curry lobster, Scottish salmon, chocolate (brownie) and cheesecake. Everything was amazing and highly recommended.
Also, be sure to try their Chili Passion Margarita.
Amazing experience. Never imagined this place would be so beautiful. The service was top notch. The food delicious. The Miami Spice menu is quite generous and an excellent value for this type of restaurant. Lastly, the courtyard entertainment was a visual sensation. Will be back soon !
Excelente ambiente. Comida deliciosa. El show sin ser malo lo más bajo de la noche (no lo promocionan así q fue extra). La atención excelente. Muy buena relación calidad precio
Amazing venue. Good options to sit inside or outside. Great cocktails Mushroom dumplings lacked flavor. Veggie pad Thai didn’t have enough vegetables and no tofu. Kimchi was good. Enjoy the pineapple white chocolate ice cream. Expensive!
Wonderful and elegant brunch that had cuisines from across the globe!
It was the firts time we went to Jaya and it won't be the last. Since the first moment we entered the ambiance transported you to Asia. The terrace is amazing and the waitress offered us the opportunity between outside area and inside . The food absolutely stunning , we chose the Miami spice menu and literally we enjoyed with every bite.
The food was too spicy and was not cooked well. Not worth the price.
Was amazed with this restaurant. Beautiful place, delicious food. Loved it!
My girlfriend and I scheduled a Sunday brunch at Jaya last week – what a great decision we made! It was truly one of the best brunches we've ever been to. The variety of food options in the buffet was the perfect amount. It had enough to satisfy every craving. We enjoyed bites from the oyster tower, omelette station, meat carving station, pad thai, salad, bagels... and for our sweet tooth, we had waffles, ice cream and tres leches. Everything was outstanding. What took the experience from good to extraordinary was the live jazz band! I even went up to the hostess after they performed so I can book them for my own personal events. The service was stellar too, as we had an endless flow of mimosas and bellinis. 10/10 would recommend!
Amazing experience! The service was impeccable. The ambiance was incredible, we had an unexpected surprise and got to enjoy seeing the Friday night “Asian Bazaar” night where they have fire dancers, geishas and contortionists. But the food was simply superb. We tasted our way through the menu.. trying all the dumplings, the short rib gyoza, the Japanese leaf salad and the Thai ceviche to start with. Then we tried the lobster curry, out of this world! The Peking Duck was crispy and delicious and the Thali platter is a must!! All the flavors and ambiance transported us out of Miami Beach to Asia! The wait staff and management were extremely friendly and attentive. And the culinary team executed every dish beautifully and made sure to tantalize our senses through our tastebuds! We’re already planning our next visit!
I think finally the Setai Hotel found the right chef. I had dinners over the years, but never as flawless as now. I chose from the Mia Spice 2018 Menu and the food was stunningly good. Fantastic service in beautiful surroundings offered my friend and me a memorable evening indeed!!
I have frequented the Setai brunches over the past 4 years and it was one of the best brunches in the country with the food/drink/service in high standard. Unfortunately my latest visit last Sunday was with disappointment. Food selections increased but with much lower quality. Not freshly replenished and meats were cold and have been sitting under the heat lamp for much too long. Pancakes were stale, all the Asian food selections did not taste the same as these past few years, it seems like there is a change of hands in the way the foods are prepared. Sadly this was my favorite Sunday brunch now no longer. The only remaining good consistency is the dessert bar and friendly service.
Went to Jaya for Miami Spice on a Saturday night . The Menu was outstanding, the value for money is excellent. The presentation of the delicious food is a feast for the eyes as well.
The food came out a little too fast unfortunately, but the service bu Gretchen and the busboy staff was friendly and efficient.
I was also not expecting the club like atmosphere, there was a DJ spinning. You can still carry on a conversation thanks to the great acoustics, but for me this took away from the dining experience.
The atmosphere at Setai is so serene and so should be the background music. Maybe this is something they only do on weekends, if this is not your thing you might ask before you go.
Take advantage to experience Jaya during Miami Spice Month!
GREAT AMBIANCE & BEAUTIFUL SETTING. We had been to Jaya a while ago. This time we went to try their Miami Spice menu. The selections were very good. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. Our server was a lovely young trainee from Indonesia.
Beautiful and huge “room,” actually several rooms surrounding an enormous covered atrium and a central landscaped pond. We limited ourselves to the limited time Miami Spice fixed price menu which provided more than enough food (no skimping on portions) and can not attest to other menu items such as the Peking Duck that others have recommended. Our drinks and appetizers were outstanding (ceviche and truffles dumplings) but we were less impressed with our entrees and desserts. Our waiter told us his favorite dishes are the ceviche and the pad Thai. Perhaps it was our selection.
The space itself remains outstanding and worth a visit. Sit outside if the temperature and humidity allow.
I should note that on this Saturday night there were several large tables gathering for dinner (10-14 people) and this space works well for that.
The food, after drinks and appetizers, well, I am just not sure.
Great ambiance. Live show with flame thrower and interpretive dancer as well as DJ playing hits during dinner. This is for outdoor seating. Indoor is more quiet and serene. The Setai provides a beautiful backdrop for your exquisite dinner.
It was a very nice experience. One of the best places in Miami. Special thanks to Kayon Kelly and all his friendly staff.
