I absolutely love the place except for one thing it’s too cold & windy .
We have been to the Setai before, and loved it. This time was not quite so enjoyable.
Our waiter was very good. The sea bass with tamarind sauce was excellent.
The thali was lack luster. No real vegetable. Could easily have included cauliflower, eggplant, okra or even potatoes.
The ‘Raita’ was plain yogurt, would have expected at least some flakes of cucumber in it to qualify as raita. Daal was Luke warm.
Naan bread was excellent.
What really detracted from the experience, was some one in the open kitchen was continuously calling back the orders - (into a microphone) we were not close to the kitchen, but could hear him loud and clear.
Not what we expected for our occasion, certainly not at the Setai. Very strange experience. We would have thought one of the managers floating around would have noticed and done something about it.
We had a nice time but doubt I would go back.
First the bad: Front reception was not particularly pleasant nor friendly, the wait staff that backed up the waiter were not well trained or very professional nor did they have much understanding of English. and our waiter had too many tables to be as effective as one might hope (although she was very nice and professional), the noise level was extremely LOUD which I don't mind but I had some older people with us and they could barely stand it, and on three occasions other waiters tried to deliver food to our table that was for another table which does get very annoying. The place in general needs much better management.
The good: The pool room is very beautiful and the atmosphere is an "up", our sashimi was delicious, and the food in general was very good. And I found the pricing to be fair for the quality.
Our main waiter did a nice job when we could get her attention and she accommodated a special request from one of our guests....and when one dish was delivered incorrectly, she corrected it very quickly.
In general, we had a nice time but it was filled with little annoyances throughout the experience which left most in my party feeling no need to return.
the food was excellent. the lobster in green curry was absolutely amazing.
the mushroom dumpling was outstanding.
the service was terrible. Our busboy didn't speak. I couldn't anyone to remove an empty water bottle. Empty glasses were also left on the table.
I highly recommend this restaurant for the food not for the service.
Great experience. I look forward to going back. Servers were attentive, food was great and ambiance was wonderful.
Jaya is not only the best restaurant in Miami/South Beach, it would rank as a top Pan-Asian restaurant in Chicago, San Francisco, LA or NYC.
The mix of Thai, Indonesian, Indian, Japanese and Chinese cuisine is unparalleled. We enjoyed a virtual tour of Asia with delicate chive/mushroom dumplings, Indian Naan Breads with Jaya’s signature “addictive” Cashew sauce, a wonderful encrusted Sea Bass served on a heated cage, stunning duck fried rice, and wok veggies.
Dining options include casual bar-side or table-side dining in the open kitchen featuring a fascinating mix of Asian work stations, or an elegant dining room or the stunning outdoor atrium with dining booths and tables circling the massive sculpture fountain for a romantic evening or celebration.
Service is top notch. Our server Gretchen guided us through choices based on our taste preferences and knew the details of each dish. The managers visited over the course of the evening to unobtrusively check in.
Jaya is a great choice for a fun casual exploration of the unique cuisines offered or a more elegant night out, in either case best topped off by exiting through the beach entrance to a stroll along the oceanfront promenade.
We had the truffle dumping and thali. thal was good and truffle dumpling was ok. Overall the service was outstanding.
Awesome dining experience. Truly exquisite ambiance w great service. I has peeking duck w shrimp fried rice; it was perfect.
Brunch was great
One of the most beautiful places I have ever eaten in. Food amazing, service top notch. Extraordinary!!
Very surprised about their brand new breakfast setup. Truely the best in town! Will go back soon!
Appetizers were great
Main meal, a little disappointing, a little blend
The service was uneven,
Overall a little steep in price for what we got
As I was searching for a place to have brunch I found the setai but it didn’t really have information about the brunch or the pricing. I was shocked when we received the bill and it was $85 per person plus more for tip. The bill $425. If they had properly advertised the cost I would have gone somewhere else.. I felt a deceived... and it ruined the rest of the occasion.. it’s seems this typical of south beach..restaurants... it really makes you not want to go the beach
Our server, Gretchen is one of the best servers we’ve experienced in Miami Beach. The food is outstanding and the atmosphere is unique. We felt we were on an exotic island. The food is fairly priced but the liquor prices are extremely high.
Llegué 15 minutos tarde y no registraron mi visita a Opwntable
Excellent and plentiful food and desserts but for small eaters, not worth the $85 plus service.
The service is too long... way too long... over 1,5h for our main dish to arrive... no excuses- nothing... we just waited. The problem is that it is not the 1st time.
Absolutely one of my favorite Sunday Brunches in Miami. Food is amazing, service and staff are impeccable.
Still a bit under the radar but the best dining experience in Miami Beach. Stunning atmosphere with choice of outdoor dining around sculpture pool; indoor romantic setting and casual dining facing remarkable pan-Asian kitchen. Remarkable Asian fusion dishes (Japan,India,Thailand,China) and world class bar/wine selection.
Amazing like always!! Returning customers. Delicious authentic food!
Very happy with everything this place has to offer - quality food, service and atmosphere. Outstanding job on this restaurant, it is always a joy coming back here.
On an evening that's not too balmy, you must sit in the stunning Jaya courtyard to appropriately appreciate the gorgeous water feature located in the center. I promise the food and cocktails will taste better, and you'll feel less of a "punch in the gut" feeling when the bill comes if you do so. I was genuinely surprised to find that the food and service measured up to the ambiance. Definitely worth a visit for a special occasion.
This is a special magical place. Very unusually good food, exceptional anticipatory service and s wonderful ambience. The outdoor gallery is particularly exotic but mind the many smokers who hang there. My sinuses objected even though there was some heavy fans clearing the air. Expensive but not an every day experience.
Over priced Chinese food and terrible inattentive service. A 20 percent gratituity is already added to the bill so I guess that explains it. The out side area is very nice tho.
Food was great but service is a disaster. We tried to order drinks at the bar for 25 minutes before dinner and we were totally ignored by the staff. We have asked 8 times to the staff and no one wanted to take the order. When we finally got to our table, we had to wait for 30 more minutes before someone showed up. The music is so loud that you absolute can’t hear the person sitting next to you. Impossible to have a decent conversation.
We sat outside and enjoyed a quiet, delicious dinner. The branzino was perfect, the duck was spicy and filling and the dim sum was light and expertly prepared. We enjoyed a girls dinner here on a quite Sunday night and would happily go back.
As this was my first time visiting the Jaya restaurant at the Setai, I have to say that my biggest disappointment was the service. My sister and I visited on a Sunday evening, which we were expecting the restaurant to not be so busy, which it wasn't. While the ambiance, drinks, and food were amazing, I have to say the service was not up to par once our food was brought to the table. After the entree, our waitress was nowhere to be seen, dessert came and my sister and I waited for 25 minutes for the check to be brought. While this was a great time to digest the food and have a conversation, I constantly noticed that the waitress continued to pass by the tables around us and still paid no attention to my sister and I. Constantly trying to get her attention we failed and I had to end up getting up from my chair to ask what seemed like the owner of the restaurant for the bill.
It’s a beautiful place to eat and the food was good. I was just disappointed with our hostess. She was really aloof to us and I felt like she was not really there to help us. She was walk away and not back for 30 minutes. When she came to us and asked if we needed a few minutes, I said yes. She didn’t come back for 30 minutes, but was serving everyone Elsa. Pretty much the service was like that the entire night. I was really disappointed.
Jaya was magnificent and I totally understand why it has been touted as one of the best brunches in South Beach. Every item was delectable! I was there for a special birthday brunch and everyone loved it! Will be difficult to top this for next year and I will definitely be back soon.
Thoroughly enjoyed the dining outside with tasty appetizers, entrees and desserts. It was our favorite spot on the Miami Spice 2018 selections.
The food was outstanding as was the service . The only think I did not like is that 75% of the service personnel were interns from Indonesia. Mind you, they were excellent but there prevalent use was clearly to minimize labor costs for the restaurant. These should be American jobs.
And on fridays they have entertainment that makes the evening more special
I was really looking forward to the dinner, but ended up very disappointed :0(. Service was ok, food took forever and was not great, and the $10 bottle of sparkling water (of which my friend only had 1 1/2 cups) threw me over the top. I would not recommend to anyone.
Ambience was amazing and so was the food! Cannot believe we did not try this hidden gem for this many years
Wagyu beef with peppers was not really wagyu. It was pretty tough to be wagyu. I suggest they stop misleading clients. Food was meh...taste and presentation can be had someplace else at half the price. You pay for the ambience.
Great place. Great views and the dancing lady. Enjoyed miami spice menu
I went to Jaya for a family dinner, the food was very good as always! Table outside by the pool, amazing view!
SUCH GOOD FOOD!!!!! Everything about this place is magical
