Jaxx always feels like home...the dark wood, the booths, the excellent service is why this restaurant remains on my go to list! Always good food and excellent service. It’s been here for years and that is why!
The chef thinks he runs the restaurant. Go to Silver Fox. They will bend over backwards for you and the food is way better. So are the servers. We used to go there all the time. Now it just needs to shut its doors.
Jaxx Pepper Steak is one of the must underrated gems in Dallas. Great drinks and bread pudding as well.
We have eaten a Jaxx many times in the past and have always found the experience delightful. This visit however was completely different. To begin with, it was twenty minutes after we were seated that the waiter came to see if we would like a pre-dinner cocktail or an appetizer. We ordered a glass of wine and a mixed drink which was finally delivered by the bartender himself but the cocktail was extremely weak. In the past the cocktails had been well prepared. We ordered from a pre-set menu since it was Christmas eve and the appetizers and were large in proportion and quite large and very good. The soup and salad were also very good but were delivered before we had eaten even half of our appetizers. For our entree, my wife ordered the hallibut which she said was excellent and I ordered the ribeye steak. As stated earlier, we have eaten at Jaxx many times before and it was wonderful but this steak was horrible. It was cokked as I requested but the meat was tough and stringy with gristle throughout. I was able to eat about one third of it and then got tired of trying to cut it and chew it. As is the custom at Jaxx I was offered a take home container for the steak but it was so bad that I passed on that. Maybe it was just that piece of meat but I've never had such poor quality steak at this establishment. As to the service, it was the slowest and most disappointing we've ever experienced at Jaxx. Different waitstaff brought various courses in an overlapping fashion and then there would be a long gap before the next course arrived?
While at the restaurant my wife and I agreed that if we had not eaten at Jaxx before we would never eat there again. Because we have been there before we will go back again and we can only hope that this experience was a one time deal. We normally recommend Jaxx to all our friends but this experience has made us hesitant to do so.
Christmas Eve dinner was not worth $69.00 per person. 16ounce Ribeye was thin and overcooked. Wait staff was very pleasant.
Steaks not cooked correctly...they did quickly and cheerfully fix them. Couple of other small misses. We have been long time Jaxx fans but seems to us it has slipped. Not horrible, but no longer really good
Jaxx was a pleasant surprise. Not only was I close to our home, but the ambience was reminiscent of a Chicago Steakhouse. Originally from the Midwest, this brought back great memories. Max was our waiter and was extremely attempting. Food was excellent, so many great choices, and great wine and bar options too. Do yourself a favor, check out Jaxx. I will definitely repeat.
Food was less than acceptable quality- steaks prepared poorly - sent back 1st attempt- should have sent back 2nd
Service was not good, I guess our waitress had an off night
