Jax Fish House & Oyster Bar in Fort Collins, Colorado has a passion for serving up food includes sustainably harvested seafood and produce that is farm-fresh and local. With a popular oyster bar and plenty of locally brewed craft beers, this is a great spot for meeting up with friends after work.
The starter menu at Jax Fish House & Oyster Bar has plenty to tempt, such as house smoked trout, Buffalo fried oysters, chicken and shrimp gumbo, jumbo lump crab cake and spicy tuna tacos. On the seafood menu, there are three samplers, aptly named the hook, the line and the sinker. Get some friends together and enjoy all three, hook, line and sinker. Though Jax Fish House & Oyster Bar is all about the seafood, there is a burger and Colorado steak frites on the menu as well.
We had the usual excellent dining experience at Jax this past Monday. We really enjoy their "All Day Happy Hour" & happy hour starters for dinner. The calamari is to DIE for, & they always have some new & fun dishes. We'll be back!
We've been to all the other Jax locations and have come to accept that they have a high standard for all their food, and that it is really the only place you'd want to go to have fish, which from their name, is their specialty. But we happened to be in Fort Collins around dinner time and were looking for a really good meal, something not always easy to find in that town. So we went to Jax based on our experiences at the Downtown Denver and Glendale locations and were not disappointed! There are some good hamburger and steak options for you landlubbers, but if you're in the mood for a really wonderful ensemble of tastes topped off with some of the best prepared fish you could hope for, this is where you want to be. Our waiter was helpful and knowledgeable, prepared to talk in depth about the wines and the entrees. GO!
We had previously been to the oyster bar and enjoyed it so we decided to try the dining, but were very disappointed. There is a better Fish restaurant in Ft. Collins. The oysters are very good. We were very surprised the dining wasn't better.
JAX is my favorite place to eat in Colorado! All night happy hour on Monday’s are the best!!
Our server took our drink order and said she would be right back with our drinks and to give us the specials, however she must have went on break because another server brought my beer (the wrong one) and told us he would be right back to take our order. Just unnerving that our original server didn't mention the switch. The table next to ours had to ask a passing server to find who their server was since they had been seated for at least 10 minutes with nobody showing up. It was Mother's day so very busy but I felt rushed.
We had a reservation and we were seated immediately. The food was very good - especially recommend the calamari appetizer and the pork belly cornbread. Skip the risotto - it was mostly vegetables and had a very bland taste. We got the king crab for $38. You actually only get 1.5 legs. The chef did not cut the shells like they do at some restaurants, so it was very difficult to get the meat out. Service was great. Overall a good experience.
The food, service, and experience was absolutely outstanding. I would very recommend to a friend and I will definitely be back!
Incredibly attentive and authentic staff support. Top notch experience, for a group of 13.
The food is always outstanding! The service is lacking. Never enough servers for all the tables. That should be an easy fix.
It was a great time, meal, and drinks. Wished they carried Spring 44 vodka. We will go back!!
Enjoyed seafood at Jax. We shared mussels and a halibut entree. High quality seafood, great service.
Enjoyed my birthday dinner with my fiance there , while in Fort Collins enjoyed every minute of it thank you very much for a wonderful evening.
Fantastic fresh and flavorful seafood and sides! Drink menu offers great selection of craft cocktails and beers. Best aspect of Jax is the people/service. Been three times... always impeccable service.
Food was awesome, as always. Fun, crowded, noisy. Great spot to hang out.
We had an awesome date night there. Wine was delicious and the all you can eat crab was perfectly cooked and surprisingly high quality for a land-locked state. We also had mussels in the white wine sauce - I could've drank the sauce.
Great place to grab a quick bite to eat, or have a nice dinner. Bar has some great had crafted cocktails. Such a popular place the bar seating is limited. Happy Hours is awesome.
Have to say our server, Karen was a awesome. Thank you
This was our second visit in four months as we live in South Dakota. It was fantastic both times and I would highly recommend.
Great experience with the happy hour menu. Best oysters in town.
Lovely meal. Our waitperson recommended exceptional oysters. Always very good.
Food was very small portions 1/4 a piece of corn served with the crawfish broil only about 15-20 pieces of crawfish 1/2 a piece of sausage, calamari was 1/2 a normal portion also barely any seasoning in the crawfish and very mediocre service , my burger was was over cooked dry and not hot which makes no sense , we had a larger group 10 people and a very large tab 668$ and we still tipped Ashley over 20 percent but her service was only worth about 8 percent as she never really asked if we needed more drinks we had to hunt her down to order them . First and last visit was very disappointing not impressed with the food at all !
Did the crawfish boil while it was going on! A new food experience for my boyfriend and I and it was good! Fun place with a great staff.
We went for all-day Monday happy hour and got 5-6 different happy hour dishes that were all very good. Service was great. Great atmosphere. Would recommend this place to anyone that loves good food!
Great happy hour and great service! I highly recommend making a reservation, though. We took our out of town guests here on a Monday night and thoroughly enjoyed the all day happy hour.
Food and service is always superb!
Great evening with outstanding food and spectacular service from Sarah. She was awesome in working with the kitchen staff around some food allergies we had within our party. Oysters were out of this world.
We were so excited to try Jax! We had stopped in before for wine and oysters. Our dinner was amazing! Delicous food, great service and an inviting atmosphere!
Great food and service. Way too loud...
One of our favorites in foco! A must when we have guests in town!
Kelly was awesome! Very knowledgeable on the food and especially the wine. We were given a very nice table. Jax’s is a fun, happening place with great food and service.
Love this place. Always delicious and great service.
Easter Brunch was yummy. Our server was great. Always love JAX!
We enjoyed Easter Brunch at Jax. The menu had plenty of options, fancy but not too fussy. Or server Sarah was fantastic!
We had an awesome time and the team treated us like Kings & Queens... Loved It!
Matt was very accommodating. Provided us with a very special anniversary with a personal touch. Thank you Matt!
Loved our meal and the waiter was great. This was a perfect birthday setting
We love Jax! It’s just a perfect place to dine before a concert or arts event downtown. Drinks are great, and we especially enjoy the oysters and the small plates happy hour menu. They really treat fish right!
Too loud. Why have music playing in the background? Just makes it that much harder to hear anything at your table!
Food and service were great! Noise level approaching painful.
STEVE WAS EXCELLENT, FRIENDLY, AND FUN. WE WERE MEETING FRIENDS FROM OUT OF TOWN
WHO WERE RUNNING A LITTLE LATE AND FELT NO PRESSURE. IT JUST GAVE MY WIFE AND I MORE TIME TO ENJOY THE HAPPY HOUR MENU AND DRINKS.
While I enjoy your restaurant and will definitely come again, I have to suggestions. Put a vegan meal or two on the menu. That way I can bring my wife. Number two, the walleye meal I had left a lot to be desired. Portion size was really small and the presentation was severely lacking. I certainly would not get that again.
Fantastic meal. Started with Oysters on the half shell. The special was fresh Walleye filet with Quinoa cakes, roasted vegetables, The sauce was a Dijon mustard preparation. Paired with a California Pinot Noire and great company.
