Jax Fish House and Oyster Bar- Fort Collins Ratings and Reviews
The food is always excellent and presented in an appealing manner. I must give a special comment to our server Matt. He is without a doubt the best server we have ever had in a restaurant. He is personable, respectful, and a true gentleman. He fondly remembers us when we dine at your restaurant. He is a true asset to your restaurant.
One of the best things about going to Jax, besides a great happy hour is being served by the best server I've experienced in quite some time - Sarah!!! She is friendly, conscientious, respectful, knowledgeable...I could go on and on. She knows how to do it right! I also love that Jax has done away with using straws, and uses cloth instead of paper products. This has become one of my favorite restaurants in Fort Collins!
The atmosphere was electric Mardi Gras! This place was definitely a party. At our table the waitress came up and put beads around our necks, she was so friendly. We ordered drinks and some raw oysters which were amazing, a little smaller then I remembered. Two people ordered the jambalaya, one calamari and a wedge salad (vegetarian), another a steak. I had Creole Shrimp & Grits which was just what I wanted. We all enjoyed our meals. For desert we had King Cake & our grandaughter found the baby in hers & received a gift certificate. Overall an excellent evening.
We brought our son to this restaurant as a celebration because he was in Fort Collins for a college tour of Colorado State University. We had a GREAT meal and a really fun time!! Matt was an exceptional waiter!! He recommended the sea bass and the key lime pie! So so wonderful!! Thank you everyone for an awesome experience! We will definitely be back!!
I went to Jax for an early Valentine's Date on a getaway night in Fort Collins. My girlfriend and I have been craving seafood since moving out to Denver, and Jax was just the ticket to soothe our need. Right from the outset, our server Sarah was attentive and highly knowledgeable about the menu - inside and out - giving us suggestions and guiding us through our first Jax dining experience. Her energy was palpable and it made us more excited in turn. The food itself was delicious - from the oysters and calamari to the Australian Seabass and Tuna dishes. The tuna was one of the best dishes I have tasted in a long time. As the cherry on top, our craft cocktails were excellent and reasonably priced. Safe to say we left Jax with full bellies, smiles and the intention to come back again soon!
We visited jax before a concert, it was busy but we had reservations and were seated right away. We started with the calamari, which is one of our favorite appetizers. Jax does it very well every time I've tried. For dinner, I had the special which was a mahi mahi over a lobster bisque with seasonal veggies. Fish was cooked perfect and the dish was very tasty overall - everything went very well together. My husband had the ahi tuna, it was perfect. A great piece of fish prepared to perfection, melt in your mouth. I also love their infused liquors and creative cocktails as well as a great wine list. I've been to 3 jax (Boulder, Denver and Ft. Collins) over many years and they are all fantastic, never have been disappointed.
server seemed to lose interest in us once it became clear we weren't ordering a lot of appetizers or expensive oysters or cocktails. The biggest disappointment was the tuna which must have been low grade in order for a pad thai preparation to make sense. It tasted terrible and was a big shock, but no one came around to check on us until the other people in our party were already finished with their meal, so needless to say, I didn't want to order something else at that point. For a classy restaurant, these were two major dings in my experience (which has otherwise been mostly very positive)
Jax is a hip seafood restaurant located in the heart of old town. It has fun ambiance and an upbeat atmosphere. The food is okay. The menu is very adventurous with a mix and match of flavors. I personally like a more simple menu when it comes to seafood, but my husband likes more flavor and loved his meal. Drinks were delicious and refreshing. Server was super attentive and the floor Manager made sure we got a great table for our date night.
The - crab and sea bass, seafood was excellent as well as the salads. But the sides potatoes were not so great - small pieces and kind of well done and greasy it would be nice to have mashed potatoes as a choice. Did not like the bread they served - would rather have sour dough. We did not like the side potatoes so we gave them back and ordered the truffle potatoes but the ended up being the exact same potatoes but with truffle sauce - the sauce was great - but the potatoes were duplicated . No one told us they were the same. The waiter was great but the bus help was a bit confused it took them a long time to get cocktail sauce which I needecin order to start eating my crab
just wonderful from the moment the hostess greeted us, found us two seats at the bar to wait a short time for our reserved booth, drinks served, wait staff attentive accurate and timely to outstanding appetizers and main dish. Service and quality aligned very well to cost.
Nice menu, some different and unusual dishes, waiter knew the wine list and was helpful with suggestions, bringing us tastings. Different decor in the restaurant with good crowd mix. Nice salt water fish tank. We got reservation at the last minute as we arrived from out of town. Had to wait about 15 minutes after reservation to be seated, but it was worth the wait. Would eat here regularly if I lived in Ft. Collins.
