Jax Fish House in Boulder works tirelessly to bring fresh caught seafood and fine coastal food to the surrounding landlocked community. The dining experience at Jax Fish House focuses on sustainable seafood when choosing who to partner with to provide guests only the freshest seafood. The restaurant is open daily for lunch and dinner with dining options that include bar seating, tables and a chef's counter.
The menu at Jax Fish House is dependent on market availability as all of the seafood used in house is flown in daily from one of the coasts. Guests favorites include hot oysters in three different flavors, green curry mussels and the sinker sampler platter with East Coast oysters, green lip mussels, peel n' eat shrimp, snow and king crab and lobster.
Outstanding food, fantastic service, and great all around.
We were in visiting my niece, a student at CU Boulder, and while she's been to Pearl Street had never eaten at any of the establishments.
She, and the rest of us, thoroughly enjoyed it!
Overall it was a typical Saturday night out in Boulder. Busy and loud. Had to wait almost 30 minutes for our reserved table which is aggravating. People walking in off the street without reservations had no problem getting a table in short order. I understand it’s not the servers fault but those who are in charge of reservations. Oysters are always a good bet but $5+ is a ridiculous amount to pay for 1 oyster. Calamari and shrimp po’boy looked like they were fried in old fryer grease. Two of the 6 entrees had absolutely no plate presentation what so ever. Too busy or just too lazy I don’t know but it was disappointing nevertheless and is unacceptable in restaurants that charge $30 an entree. Service was however spot on. It’s always a shame to see one area of a restaurant shine and another not. My husband and I have been going to Jax for 20 years and we usually get several appetizers and maybe that’s the way to go instead of entrees. Will not be going back anytime soon unfortunately. Too bad that restaurants throughout this country have such a hard time with consistency. It’s become a hit or miss world!
Alex is amazing and Lee knows what he’s doing!
My favorite restaurant in all of Boulder, hands down. Best service, best consistently delicious food. And, we discovered, Wednesdays are half-price bottles of wine. Amazing deal.
Overall food, staff, service and ambience was outstanding! Will be back again.
Great bar. Good food.
Jax is always good, but it was even better this time. We had the lobster risotto and butterfish. The chocolate bread pudding was also very good.
Cute restaurant right on Pearl Street. Very nice staff and delicious food. Also worked with the vegetarian in the group which isn't always the case at a seafood place. Kids menu if you have a picky eater, but our picky eater loved the mussels and snow crab!
Always one of the best for seafood, oysters, great smaller venue with great staff and lots of great energy...great bar and dining scene.
Billy was a superb server!
We always enjoy Jax . . . great oysters and great, friendly service!
The service was excellent! Jax can be counted on for a good meal and great vibe!
A go to in Boulder!
Our server was awesome. She remembered that we'd been there before. She had everything split in the kitchen for us since we share. She really made me feel like Jax values their customer.
Food and service is always the best! Great variety of seafood. Best calamari ever!
Best seafood place in boulder
I am there once a week
Wife’s food was very good. Tiger shrimp fish I ordered was not. Shrimp were either over cooked or not fresh or both.
Great Happy Hour food. Fun ambiance. Wonderful service. We love JAX.
Happy hour menu was a hit! We had amazing oysers, shrimp, calamari and coctails for 6 people under 200. We will definatley make it back for happy hour!
These guys always blow it out of the water! Those peal and eat shrimp never disappoint and the cocktails pair deliciously with it. No better seafood in town!!!! Not to mention, awesome, attentive, and friendly service with honest servers wanting to guide you through the menu vrs just take your order. Not my first time in, and definitely not my last!
We love Jax! Yummy oysters, food and drinks! We always enjoy our time there!
We only had starters, but the calamari, spicy tuna, oysters Rockefeller, & the raw oysters were amazing! Alex our waitperson, she was wonderful,!
Spectacular. If you’re trying to choose between another restaurant and Jax, Jax wins hands down.
Menu items are carefully and artfully served, each a perfect side happy hour-style order. BUT, why are there no plain-Jane items like simple fried oysters and shrimp?
Came to Boulder fornthe weekend. Looked for a good local spot and seafood. This place was great. Cool vibe, great food and the service was awesome. Highly recommended for fun and really good food.
We always go to Jax for seafood - best fresh fish in Boulder.
The oysters were delicious! We had some of the happy hour $1.50 each (Chesapeake) and Kumamoto $4.50 each. I would pass on the pineapple martini- not sure why they garnished with a lemon. Staff were very friendly and prompt.
Billy, our server, was outstanding! The menu was great, and our meals were impeccable.
Jax is the favorite for oysters, seafood, and martinis!
Absolutely delicious. Fresh oysters and delicious fish!
Jax always treats us like family! The food is always delicious and the service is outstanding!
We had a great experience. The food was wonderful and we had excellent service!
We absolutetly love Jax Boulder. The service is so exceptional and the food is superb. Always the best time...
The restaurant is very small and cramped. Servers and patrons kept bumping into our chairs as they walked by. The service was good and our server attentive. The food was okay but not what we expected for what we spent. The price was very high and there are much better restaurants in and around Boulder for what we paid. The restaurant doesn't have much atmosphere and is too cramped and loud. We won't be back. Too many other choices where we can get better value, better food and a much nicer atmosphere.
The (seafood) was delicious and very fresh tasting..
Terrific oysters. Great service! ( Alex & Brad). Very popular, so a bit noisy. Good deal on happy hour oysters.
Should have researched this better in advance. Was looking for a intimate dinner in a good seafood restaurant. This is a bar that serves food. It was very loud, had to almost yell to hear each other. The tables are small and very close together. Couldn't help hearing every word of the rather crude conversation taking place next to us. Food was pretty good but pricey.
Quite loud. Tables very close together. Good food, not exceptional. Would rather come here for happy hr, not an expensive dinner.
Go three times and you are a regular. Dave Query knows how to make diners feel like special guests. Consistently friendly, knowledgeable staff, great service and wonderful food. We go often.
Jax is just cool.
Loved the vibe. Service was top notch. First visit after many years of passing by and hearing great things. I loved the salads, but other than that, I didn't love the menu or the food. Pretty pricey for not loving every aspect, but we did have fun.
