Upon entering the restaurant, it appeared to not be popular and it smelled like fish. Our waitress seemed very spacey and they were out of two different wines that we ordered. However, the Jasper fries were one of the best ever fries that we've had and we contemplated going back for them. Highly recommend the Jasper fries!
I’ve been to this restaurant numerous times and been very happy with the food and service. This time was not the case. We were a table of four going to the theater afterwards. We made sure to leave an hour and a half to eat dinner. We arrived on time and it took them 15 minutes to seat us. There was only three tables being used. Not sure what exactly took so long. We placed our order and the waiter did not write down our order. He had to come back to ask us our drink order again and then ended up only ordering three of the four meals. We got the last meal about five minutes before we needed to leave for the theater. He blamed it on the kitchen staff that I thought was very unprofessional. It would’ve been way more simple if he just wrote down our order. I will go back because it’s very close to where I work but I was definitely unsatisfied with this service and meal. Food Quality this time was a little sad and seemed rushed. We had an hour and a half for dinner it shouldn’t of been rushed.
The food was great as was the service. We ate there to kick off a bachelorette party and they brought us a round of really yummy rose cocktails on the house! Very unexpected but much appreciated!
Food didn't look anything like photos and wasn't something I would return for. We had fish and burgers. The waiter was probably new. Forgot to bring us extra catsup and mustard.
Went with friends. Place was empty at 7:30 on a Friday. The staff was very friendly but the ambiance, food, and drink menus were all underwhelming.
Several items on menu were not as described. Some not available. Lackluster wine options. Poutine came with blobs of mozzarella cheese instead of cheese curds.
Busy day for the restaurant due to a party. This meant poor and inconsistent service for all other customers, waiting around to be seated or simply turned off altogether. Our server was nice and apologetic though, but it just wasn’t enough. Never going back as the food was average.
So good!!! We did 4 mimosa flights and got a FULL bottle each...what?! And the food and service was great as well.
Food was pretty good but the service was terrible. People were waiting over 20 minutes to be seated when they had plenty of open tables. I’m assuming they just didn’t have enough people working. It was a Sunday at 10am so I’m not sure why they wouldn’t staff enough people for that day.
Also, our waitress came and took our order and we never saw her again until she gave us our check, she didn’t check in to see how we were doing or anything. Overall, not a great experience.
Friendly and knowledgeable server and good food.
As a hotel restaurant both the breakfast and dinner meals were excellent and the service was friendly and fast.
Went for Mothers day weekend and a before theater meal. Service was a bit slow for lunch. The champagne tasting flight was really fun! Brussel sprouts are delicious! Also had bfast there and it was very good and the service was better. Would recommend for lunch before a play and after play drinks.
This was a pretty mediocre experience. We arrived with a reservation and were ignored by the hostess who talked to the people behind us before she even acknowledged us. When we pointed this out she claimed she thought we were with another person who we clearly heard say he was alone. The food was just ok. The services was seriously lacking. Our oder was taken wrong which could have been avoided had the waitress just written it down. I do not plan to ever go back.
Good place for sports. People are friendly and attentive.
Stayed at the Hotel Spero , connected to Jadoers
Mimosa flight, including full bottle of bubbly, for $21!!! That makes for a great brunch! The food and service were very good. There was one woman at the bar who was repeatedly laughing VERY loudly. No complaints otherwise.
Not bad a bit dated but staff very friendly. Prices are a bit expensive fir what you get with a bear costing $7 and a cocktail costing $12.never Sean that you also put milk/cream in a expresso Martini
Really enjoyed our meal before going to the theater. Our server was outstanding and the menu had something for everyone in our group. We will definitely be back.
Daniel was wonderful. Attentive, funny and great energy. The manager, she was amazing. Very pleasant and motivated about coming soon locations!
Great Dood. Lots of Variety
Our food was cold. The server was not attentive. We won’t be going back for date nights anytime soon.
The food was very good when we had a Sunday brunch recently. Our server was pleasant, along with the atmosphere of the restaurant. We liked that they took reservations. I wish they offered a pitcher of mimosas, but the $21 flight of mixed mimosas was good. We will go there again!
The place smelled like bleach - it was empty, unfriendly staff. Left before we ate. Avoid
Great place. Traditional American fare. Reasonable prices. Great and fast service
overall a great experience. the waiter could have kept his comments to himself but i guess was trying to be helpful. but should realize that people special order sometimes due to special diets
Went for late night happy hour, food was just ‘ok’.
Probably the worst breakfast and dining experience I’ve had in San Francisco. Party of 7 of us (four kids, three adults), my steel-cut oatmeal resembled pig slop and wasn’t fit for human consumption. It looked more like watered down oatmeal soup with 6-8 blueberries. Atrocious! My girlfriend’s eggs benedict had barely a teaspoon of hollandaise sauce over hard cooked eggs, burnt english muffins and over-cooked crab cakes (or whatever they were) and mushy, disgusting frozen potato fries. The three pancakes for my girlfriend’s daughter were hard/stiff enough to pick up without them flopping. They even managed to screw up our check by not splitting it as requested, but were bold enough to charge 18% gratuity. Hard to imagine this place actually staying open. Stay away from this place as there are dozens of other, far better restaurants in SF.
We had brunch before seeing a matinee show of Hello Dolly at the Golden Gate Theater. It is literally a five minute walk down to the theater. Jasper’s is our “go to” place before going to the theater. It’s a short walk to all the main theaters including the Curran, The Alcazar and anything around Union Square. Highly recommend.
Great place for Sunday brunch before the SHN show at Golden Gate.
Yummy food, very helpful staff. Exactly what it states to be, a tap room type atmosphere!
Our neighborhood last min go to spot! Great for anytime of the day!
I was a little disappointed in the beer list because they were out of all of their IPAs except for the New England style one. There was an issue with one of the cocktails that they happily fixed but then charged us for both when we received the bill. All four of us ordered off the SF Restaurant Week 3 course menu, which seemed simple enough. Not once but 3 times, our order came out wrong. First they brought one of the wrong salads, then an extra chicken entree (5 entrees for a table of 4) and then brought a side salad that nobody ordered. The staff was very friendly and fixed their mistakes each time, but seemed a little weird to have that many mistakes in an hours time when the restaurant didn't seem overwhelmingly busy.
We came here for restaurant week in 2018 and had an amazing time, so I was a disappointed with the experience this time.
Beware if you’re coming before a show or otherwise have somewhere to be. Food is fine, but service is *incredibly* slow.
Came for the Restaurant Week deal before heading to a show at ACT. We made a reservation for 6:30, thinking that would be plenty of time with the super-short walk to the theater. Boy, were we wrong. We were seated for 10 minutes before the hostess decided to take our drink order, since the server was nowhere to be seen. Waited another 15 minutes for those drinks to arrive. Server then started to leave our table without taking a food order and we had to sort of awkwardly stop her to get it in. At this point, we warned her we had a show at 8 pm, just to make sure. She said no problem. The salads then took a really long time to come out, although this time, the food runner did apologize for the delay. By the time our entrees arrived, we only had time to finish half of them before we had to hustle to the theater, barely in time to get into our seats, after having to correct an error on our check. Overall, not the best experience.
Jasper's was the worst restaurant I've been to in a really long time, we sat at the bar, thinking the service would be good, we had to ask for everything, a second drink, two of the dishes were cold, the third dish come about 10 mins after the others, nobody seemed to understand the concept of serving customers,
While the place was busy and we had to wait to get seated, we were thankful that the back of the restaurant was quieter than the bar. We enjoyed a great meal sharing a variety of dishes. We liked the variety on the beer menu and ordered a tasting flight. The kitchen was a little backed-up but they told us so but it was not really an issue as we still got to our show on time without feeling rushed. All-in-all a good evening.
Great food and service. Not too far from Golden Gate theater either.
It was extremely busy but our waitress told us in advance of a wait in food times which we appreciated. Friendly, helpful, accommodating and great food!!
We had been here in the past when the menu was more of a pub menu. Now it’s more like diner food (including breakfasts)... which is not a bad thing. But the quality of the food was very low - the charcuterie plate was cheap salami and cheese and plain crackers. The deviled eggs, which used to be beautifully presented were piled with yolk filling nearly 3 inches high and all the food was over seasoned and greasy. Really disappointed and will not be going back.
I ordered their special “Restaurant Week” special. The salad was excellent. The chicken sandwich arrived cold but it was large and tasty.
