Our neighborhood last min go to spot! Great for anytime of the day!
I was a little disappointed in the beer list because they were out of all of their IPAs except for the New England style one. There was an issue with one of the cocktails that they happily fixed but then charged us for both when we received the bill. All four of us ordered off the SF Restaurant Week 3 course menu, which seemed simple enough. Not once but 3 times, our order came out wrong. First they brought one of the wrong salads, then an extra chicken entree (5 entrees for a table of 4) and then brought a side salad that nobody ordered. The staff was very friendly and fixed their mistakes each time, but seemed a little weird to have that many mistakes in an hours time when the restaurant didn't seem overwhelmingly busy.
We came here for restaurant week in 2018 and had an amazing time, so I was a disappointed with the experience this time.
Beware if you’re coming before a show or otherwise have somewhere to be. Food is fine, but service is *incredibly* slow.
Came for the Restaurant Week deal before heading to a show at ACT. We made a reservation for 6:30, thinking that would be plenty of time with the super-short walk to the theater. Boy, were we wrong. We were seated for 10 minutes before the hostess decided to take our drink order, since the server was nowhere to be seen. Waited another 15 minutes for those drinks to arrive. Server then started to leave our table without taking a food order and we had to sort of awkwardly stop her to get it in. At this point, we warned her we had a show at 8 pm, just to make sure. She said no problem. The salads then took a really long time to come out, although this time, the food runner did apologize for the delay. By the time our entrees arrived, we only had time to finish half of them before we had to hustle to the theater, barely in time to get into our seats, after having to correct an error on our check. Overall, not the best experience.
Jasper's was the worst restaurant I've been to in a really long time, we sat at the bar, thinking the service would be good, we had to ask for everything, a second drink, two of the dishes were cold, the third dish come about 10 mins after the others, nobody seemed to understand the concept of serving customers,
While the place was busy and we had to wait to get seated, we were thankful that the back of the restaurant was quieter than the bar. We enjoyed a great meal sharing a variety of dishes. We liked the variety on the beer menu and ordered a tasting flight. The kitchen was a little backed-up but they told us so but it was not really an issue as we still got to our show on time without feeling rushed. All-in-all a good evening.
Great food and service. Not too far from Golden Gate theater either.
It was extremely busy but our waitress told us in advance of a wait in food times which we appreciated. Friendly, helpful, accommodating and great food!!
We had been here in the past when the menu was more of a pub menu. Now it’s more like diner food (including breakfasts)... which is not a bad thing. But the quality of the food was very low - the charcuterie plate was cheap salami and cheese and plain crackers. The deviled eggs, which used to be beautifully presented were piled with yolk filling nearly 3 inches high and all the food was over seasoned and greasy. Really disappointed and will not be going back.
I ordered their special “Restaurant Week” special. The salad was excellent. The chicken sandwich arrived cold but it was large and tasty.
I went for Restaurant Week. If the portions are any indication, this restaurant gives good value.
Came for lunch during restaurant week. Service was great but the waiter didn't seem to know that there was a special menu. I suspect that there is a communication breakdown between ownership and staff. The salad was heavy on vanilla seeds, which was weird...am I eating salad or dessert? I love vanilla and I never thought I would say "too much!" Sandwich was nothing special. Mimosas were the highlight.
We came in on a Sunday night - football playoff time. It was pretty loud, which is fine, but there were several children in a group yelling - somewhat annoying. Service was fine, the food was ok. Pork Chop had a bit too much dry rub and a little overdone. Fish and Chips were good, though I'd prefer they not put the fish on top of the chips - makes the fries soggy.
We’ve been here multiple times on our vacation. Good drinks and good brunch, lunch and dinner. Good service and extremely reasonable prices. I also love the music they play!
Host was terrible. Part of our party had already shown up and they tried to seat us at a separate table even though we all checked in under my name/reservation. Champagne provided for rainbow flight tasted like chemicals. Breakfast food was delicious and prompt, the only highlight of the experience. Our server looked like he was overwhelmed and disappeared for long periods of time. He also tried to be "that server" that didn't write down the orders but was not able to handle it and messed up several times.
Not a lot of good beers on tap. Sliders were bad. Not really any ambiance.
Food was ok. Service was poor. Ambiance was nothing special.
Apenas bueno usan muchas papas alrededor de los platillos, caro para lo que te dan.
Our meal choices were delicious! I loved my specialty pear cocktail. We had s really lovely meal before the show and we would definitely go back. Our waitress was lovely and very attentive.
Our only complaint was the cost of near by parking ($50). We walked a few blocks and found parking for $30.
First time we had brunch/lunch and all had good meals!
If you like mimosas, definitely order the flight. Comes with its own bottle of bubbles! Short rib hash was phenomenal. Service was friendly and fun. My friend and I were heading to a matinee showing at the Curran. We enjoyed our time there and never felt rushed. Overall it was a great experience. I definitely recommend making reservations on show days, as it was getting busier by the time we left.
Food was good, but service was slow. Took 20 minutes to get water.
Good food, loud environment. Lots of families with small children so there were quite a few screams. Regardless, the food was great for the most part. One had Jasper's omelette but the tomatoes in it weren't very good, and although it said it had avocado, it was actually a runny guacamole instead. I had the breakfast burger, which was delicious. The mimosa flight was quite interesting, you get a whole bottle with four different juices, but the champagne had a weird taste. Great service, our waitress was very attentive.
The restaurant is attractive. However the service was horrible. It took me about 20 minutes to get a drink and I was one of 4 people sitting at the bar. I ordered a Bloody Mary. The bartender said she was making a new batch. That took her quite a while. Then she asked the woman sitting near me if she wanted one. Then she looked at me and asked me the same question even though I already ordered one. The table service was just as bad. The waitress wanted us to order right away since they were charging from breakfast to lunch. I ordered the same thing that one of our group ordered- there were just three of us. When the order came out I got something completely different. I told her I didn’t order this but she insisted I did. I didn’t want to wait any longer so I just kept it. It was an omelette which was horrible. Never again.
It's not what we expected. More of a sports bar vibe. We made a reservation ahead of time and were seated by the door (kind of chilly) in the bar area. I would expect reserved tables would be in a nicer spot. Our server was seemed rushed and we had to track him down several times to get service. The food was very good though.
Made a reservation to have lunch before a show at the Golden Gate. Originally selected restaurant because it was close to the parking garage (!) - what a pleasant surprise! Menu was brunch selections at lunch time, plenty of choices. Food was fresh and nicely presented. An ingredient was left off my salad and the service staff brought it on the side. With a smile. Solid experience, super clean restroom too. Would go back.
The food is great, and so are the drinks. It's very convenient to the Curran. Despite making a reservation for 5 via OpenTable, we were seated in a booth for 4 which we clearly were not fitting into. I had to ask to be reseated and we were eventually accommodated. I appreciated the service, particularly warning us that the kitchen was backed up and we should take this into account when ordering if we wanted to make our 8 pm show. They might have a problem with being short-staffed, but I'd give it another chance - this is the 3rd time I've been. Being short staffed is a problem for all restaurants these days given the cost of living in the Bay Area.
Food was ok, not too pricey. Really odd in that they wouldn’t make a small change for us in a menu item. A person in our group wanted plain pasta and they wouldn’t do it (they have a pasta dish - pasta with a veggie sauce - we asked for it without the sauce that’s all). So weird. Plus they sell wings but don’t have ranch dressing lol And the dining area is super dark and a really odd layout. The whole place feels like an afterthought.
This is not a place to go for a nice dinner in SF.
Service was slow, took 15 minutes to be greeted by our server. Our server failed to point out that the restaurant was shifting from the breakfast menu to the brunch menu at the time we were greeted. A couple of people ordered meals from the breakfast menu and received checks that itemized each item of the meal as a side order. We were extremely disappointed that the server didn’t bring this to our attention while ordering. It frankly felt dishonest because it doubled the price of each meal and consequently increased their automatic tip for our large party.
Fantastic experience, one I hope to repeat soon. Genesis was a spectacular server! The food was tremendous as well. Well done, Jasper’s!
Good spot before the theatre. Good food in a relaxed atmosphere. Just be sure to give yourself plenty of time.
The service was appalling and the breakfast food was of low quality for the price.
This is well located with an accessible menu. We visited after a show at the Curran. My main suggestions is on ambiance: the restuarant was too bright and the booths were much too small - my other hanf (who is not particularly large) could barely fit. It's a large restaurant and they have some big tables, so it would work well for groups. The Brussel Sprouts were delish.
The quinoa bowl was amazing!
Elevated bar food - in a good way. Delicious Mac ‘n cheese. Solid burgers. Excellent brussel sprouts.
Excellent location for pre-theater (dicey neighborhood, but that’s where the theaters are.). My friends and I enjoyed ourselves and stuffed ourselves.
I particularly have to complement the restaurant for the very delicious vegetarian options that were offered, as our party were all vegetarians. The Jasper's Fries, Pretzel Fondue, Truffle Mac and Cheese, and "Cauliflower" entrée were all delicious. Our one complaint was that on an only modestly busy evening the service tended to disappear for significant stretches of time.
I loved Jasper's, but my teenager was not as big a fan, which is the only reason I didn't give them 5 stars. For me, this was a perfect pre-theater dinner spot. It's close to the Golden Gate Theater, the food is very good, though the selection is limited, and it was nice and quiet. I highly recommend it.
Really nice atmosphere, wonderful staff and tasty food. Good for drinks and simple dinner with friends before theatre or just after work. Good for tourists as well: food is good but not complicated.
Every time we ordered food, even when the restaurant was becoming empty, it was something like over a 30 min. wait for the food.
Other than this, the service of the waiters and waitresses was great.
Speed up food delivery to something more reasonable and this place will go back to being great, which was the way it was 5+ years ago.
Went with a group of 8 for Sunday brunch. They gave us plenty of room which was great because we had a wheelchair . Good service even though they were busy. Had a mediocre Bloody Mary. The egg dishes were solid.
Was able to walk right in with our reservation. Lots of people waiting though. Food was good but nothing to write home about.
