Jasper's Corner Tap and Kitchen Ratings and Reviews
As many other have said, our 6 dinners came out at different times. One was skipped completely.
Apparently the confusion is not limited to the kitchen. I have two charges pending. Hopefully they will catch their error before I have to dispute the bill.

Everything was edible but it was a mistake to go here. I made the mistake of ordering a steak, asked for it medium-rare and got a well done steak. I sent it back and the next one was chewy as well, I made the mistake of ordering steak. Everything else was mediocre too, I was surprised this restaurant could serve this quality of food in San Francisco. I suspect it's only in business due to tourists that come by for beer. I was underwhelmed and so was everyone else in the party. I would have been more satisfied grabbing street food.
SO MANY BETTER OPTIONS IN SAN FRANCISCO!
We were in town for vacation and made a reservation here a couple of weeks in advance for our family's Christmas Eve dinner. We were very disappointed.
Right from the beginning, the host wanted to seat us at a table in the bar area where it was quite loud. He seemed "put out" that we asked him to arrange for another table in the back/main part of the restaurant. We were surprised at this reaction as we had made our reservation well in advance and the place wasn't nearly full when we arrived...or when we were finished for that matter. He did accommodate us away from the bar area by squeezing our family of 5 into a 4 person booth (thank goodness 2 of our children are still pretty small). Still being on east coast body time, we were hungry and agreed to take the booth.
The most disappointing aspect of our visit to Jasper's, though, was that the waitress and kitchen staff didn't seem to have any interest at all in working with us to try and accommodate 2 of our children that have severe food allergies. Surely, we are not the only people to have requested special food prep accomodations at Jasper's. A relatively common thing these days.
Finally, the bottle of red wine my wife and I ordered was warmer than room temperature when it arrived at the table. I can't believe the waitress even delivered it to us. We should have sent it back, but didn't because our waitress was nowhere to be found for quite a while right after she brought it and opened it for us...I shouldn't have, but I did tip my typical 20 percent because, afterall, it was Christmas.
We would not consider a return to this restaurant on future trips to San Francisco.
AGAIN, SO MANY BETTER OPTIONS!
We were looking for a place to grab a quick dinner after a show at the Curran. I found this on Open Table and we decided to give it a try. Although we had a reservation, they would only seat us in the bar area which was not ideal but worked out in the end. There were several large tvs playing football games so the noise level was louder than normal. We ordered several small plates that were terrific - deviled eggs/ pretzel with 2 sauces/ and the fries with poutine. We also shared some dinner items that were good as well. It was not what we had expected but our server was very helpful and the food was worth another visit some time.
our food was good, however it came out in three different time frames. As a party of five, three of us received our food, 10 minutes late the fourth received their food, and finally after asking twice our last member of our party received her food as the four of us were all finished. The fifth meal was comped, however, we will not be returning to Jaspers.
The food was great, and the atmosphere was nice. The only issue I had was that my food was brought out well before my dates food. I finished my meal and waited still before my date had his. I even ordered an appetizer before my date got his food but that came out well after my date finished his meal. Not sure why the food came out like that, especially when we ordered it at the same time in the beginning. That was irritating!
Let me start by saying we came there for lunch and they only have brunch on the weekends so we didn't get to try some of the dishes we were looking forward to. They didn't have a hostess and the waiter who came by when came in just told us to go to the back, so seating could be kind of problematic when they get busy. We had the pretzel and cheese fondue which was ok. Though not much of a step up from a Trader Joe's pretzel roll. The Ceasar Salad was good, though the croutons were kind of plain and not interesting. The steak on the salad was cooked to the right temp and well seasoned. I had the turkey pesto sandwich with cranberry aioli. The sandwich was on olive bread and tasty. Though I couldn't taste the cranberry at all. Overall we would try them again (when it is off hours) but I can only give them a good rating.
Anniversary dinner. Food came out way over cooked. Sent it back and ordered something else. First waiter left to go home and didn't tell us and we suddenly had a waitress instead. She put in for the new order since the food was over cooked. Waited another 25 min for that. Order came our wrong ! Waited again for the food again. No apologies form the waitress. Overall horrible service and won't return. Not a great anniversary dinner !
It was hard to rate food because our party of 5 didn't stay. Despite having a reservation, we were told it was going to be a 15-20 minute wait. While we waited, we noticed that people were getting their food, but no one had utensils. It's hard to eat eggs Benedict without a fork or something. We saw a mother use her hands to pull out some scrambled eggs to feed one of her kids. Another patron had gotten up twice to find a server or any staff to get items. As we were just about to leave (3 from our party had actually already walked out) we were told that our table was ready. We said we weren't staying, and as we walked out, a guy at a nearby table told us that we were making the right decision. I felt bad for all of the patrons there.
The best thing the restaurant has going for it is that it's close to the theaters. We went for brunch before a Sunday matinee. There were very few people in the restaurant, but still our food came barely warm. Ordered the eggs Benedict with spinach...nothing special here. Eggs seemed to have been cooked ahead of time and over cooked, at that. Hollandaise sauce was rather bland. Oddly, even though there were plenty of empty tables and no one waiting for a seat, service was rushed...waiter tried to clear my friend's plate as she was still eating. Very odd. I expect more from a downtown restaurant.
It was a disappointing visit. We showed up about 2 minutes prior to our reservation time. Despite several staff walking around and getting ready for the dinner rush, no one paid attention to us. Finally the bartender walked out from behind the bar to seat us. He told a server that he was seating us and she made that "not in my area" face. He sat us with another server. After a while, our server came over and took our order. The pretzel and hot wings appetizers were both very good. The drinks were fine. The fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy was fine. The biscuit was clearly nuked because by the time I tried to eat it, it was a puck. The fish and chips were passable. I would not eat there again or recommend it. I understand the restaurant caters to tourists (they are unlikely to see ever again), but at least try. Please.
This was a real find, located very close to some of San Francisco's high profile theaters. Sesame Crusted Tuna Cobb featured a delicious array of sSesame crusted ahi tuna seared, mixed greens, blue cheese, bacon, avocado, tomato, and egg ina lemon wasabi emulsion. We loved the hamburger and especially the pretzel bun
Decided to stop in to Jasper's before the theater since it was around the corner. We arrived and were seated quickly but it took awhile for a server to come by and take our drink order. It wasn't until the hostess walked by again that she ended up taking our drink order since no one had come by yet. Once we had our server, things seemed fine. She was friendly and helpful with our menu selection since we wanted to share. Once our food came out, we were less than pleased. Our burger had no flavor despite the toppings and condiments. It tasted like a frozen patty without seasoning. The fries were good that came with it. We also got the gouda mac & cheese and it was just okay. I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend it to anyone. And how can I forget?!? There was a little black string in our burger. Our server offered to have our food redone or get us something else, but we were short on time by then. She gave us a $5 discount. It was appreciated but the food and slow service didn't make me want to go back again.
I ordered fried chicken, which was served with "smashed potatoes" and what they described as a biscuit. The fried chicken was overcooked and incredibly dry. The breading was tough and didn't have any discernible flavor. The "biscuit" was nothing like a biscuit. It was more like an aearated square of cornbread--and not very good cornbread at that. Upon finishing, I was brought the wrong check (which was twice the total of mine). I don't often write reviews, but this really was so disappointing I decided I should on this occasion. Seriously, I would have been happier had I gone to Popeye's and ordered their $6 meal. At least the chicken there is not overcooked and they know what a biscuit is.
Menu is confusing: breakfast until 10:30, brunch after and limited, website said all day menu but only applied to Mon-Fri. When I booked the restaurant for brunch and looked at the menu options, it looked like a great variety but that was not the case when we got there. They were nice to accommodate some of our choices but still disappointing. And service was very slow on a slow Sunday. It was Mother's Day but was not very busy and we waited for our drinks for 30 minutes and out food for longer but part of was because we were waiting for the brunch options to begin.
two words. raw chicken. the restaurant exterior is odd - nothing special. interior is better. quiet if on the early side of dinner rush. seemingly good menu, but food is less than mediocre. and the raw chicken didn't help. they acted as though they were doing me a favor by taking the meal off my bill. there are better places. find them.
Perfect for what we needed...quiet booth to talk, easy food to share and just the right of attention from our server. There is nothing fancy or exotic about the food - again just right for a Sunday night. A keeper of an option when you are not in the mood for some of the more amped up hotel bar/restaurant scenes.
After reviewing the menu on-line we were really looking forward to brunch. Upon arrival we learned that, due to a busy morning, the brunch menu was not being offered any longer (1:00 pm). We will have to come back and try again another time.
Kudos to the hostess for making other suggestions when she learned we truly wanted brunch...even though the lunch menu had some interesting options if that had been what we were in the mood for.
