Jason's Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Our waiter was very nice. I love crab & ordered the crab cakes. They were almost inedible - tasted like vinegar & so crammed with red hot chilis it was impossible to know one was eating crab. There were 3 of us. One of us ordered a pizza & asked if they had crisp crusts & she wanted it extra crispy. It came & was as limp as a dish rag. The third person ordered one of the specials & that was quite good. I wouldn't attend the restaurant again.
I am a retired doctor and I meet an old colleague for lunch every 6 weeks or so. The food is always good, reasonably priced, with excellent no nonsense service. It is not too loud and it is a pleasant place for a relaxed lunch. This is an uncomplicated and good place to eat.
We really enjoyed our dinner here. I ordered the cioppino, as did my husband. We both thought it was great: full of delicious seafood, including big chunks of meaty, juicy salmon, with yummy flavors. The menu is good and varied--and food is very well prepared.
The service by waiters was attentive and gracious; however dishes were rather slow coming out of the kitchen. That was our only complaint, aside from our thinking the restaurant could use a bit of an update. It still looks like the restaurant that preceded Jason's at this location. We'll definitely go back!
This has been our happy hour and dinner “go to” place for years and continues to be so. Happy hour selections are same portion size as regular menu, only ½ less and several easily make a nice meal. Standouts include tomato soup, French fried string beans, hot shots (mini ceviches) , tuna poke, mini pizzas. We ate dinner, with table away from active bar scene. Conversation was easy, service excellent with substitutions based upon dietary restrictions, and blackened swordfish ( that preparation was not on menu). Highlight was size and preparation of wedge lettuce and blue cheese salad (rec. splitting) and best ever Chilean sea bass. Go on Thursdays and they’ll take 50% off any wine over $40! And for $5 a scoop of gelato (ask for side of hot fudge) and small biscotti. Truly one of Marin’s top dining experiences.
Jason’s is normally very good. On New Year’s Eve they were really really good! I had the lamb, my wife a Ribeye and our daughter the halibut. All three dishes and accompaniments were done to perfection. We had a great time eating after spending a litttle time in the bar! Happy 2018 everyone!
If I had ordered a different entre, I would have been happier. For me, the rib eye steak was too fatty. I won't order it again. Loved the other two courses and of course the wine. New Years Eve had a much bigger draw this year. It was crowded and very noisy.
I belong to a group of friends (6 of us) who eat at Jason's about every 2 months. They know us and are very accommodating - I am partially handicapped. This time we decided to go there on New Year's Eve and relatively early. Of course we made reservations (for 11) and dined earlyish. There was a large set menu and everyone was happy with what they ordered. The server was great and very responsive and the table they put us at was toward the front of the restaurant which made it easy for me. Thanks guys.
By our second time at Jason's, we realized it was our favorite restaurant in Marin. What took us so long to get there? Perhaps the somewhat odd location in an office park which unexpectedly provides endless parking. Get over it! Every meal has been consistently outstanding. My husband is a fan of the Rattlesnake Pasta (which I recently learned from Jason's lovely wife may be ordered vegetarian) and I the Caesar salad with salmon. The restaurant has a great energetic atmosphere. There is bar seating for sports fiends. Love it! A best Marin dining experience.
I have been at that Restaurant many times and never had anything to complain about. The food and service is flawless and the outside seating makes it special during the warm months.
Their baked salmon is my favorite item on the menu and I certainly appreciate the reasonable price.
Go for it.
Food was great. My only complaint was the reservation process. I booked through Open Table, and when I called to confirm the day of the dinner, Jason's didn't have us down for a reservation. I talked to a woman and made a reservation (since they didn't have the other), saying 5:30 at a round table. I had to repeat time, name, # of guests, and table preference several times during the conversation, and then were led to a rectangular table when we arrived. Other than that - GREAT experience!
The menu had excellent choices and the food was great! All the meals we ordered were prepared with just the right spices and sauces, and loved the salad choices as well. Very nice atmosphere and the service was excellent. Their timing was perfect and the waiter was very personable and efficient. Five stars!
I was really excited to try Jason's. Our reservation was right on time and we got seated promptly. The hostess knew it was my husbands birthday per the note on Open Table and she mentioned it when I checked in. Food was just okay. Appetizers were good although the sauces were kinda boring for Healthy Fries. Calamari sauce tasted like ketchup. Our server forgot our salad so that was disappointing. My meal wasn't that fresh either. I got the Cajun Pasta and I felt like the tomatoes and jalapeños were canned. Flavored lacked. The real bummer came at the end - we ordered dessert and coffee, but no happy birthday or anything mentioning my husbands birthday when dessert came.
Love, love, love this restaurant. I took my mom, who is a major foodie, as well as my sister, and we all loved it. The location is tucked back, but it is so worth it. I will definitely come here any time I'm in Marin. Waiter was amazing & very patient. Food was divine!!
