Always excellent food, quiet so good for conversation
Quiet. Very few customers. Food was well prepared and delicious
I recommend dining in this restaurant if staying at the Melrose Georgetown Hotel OR if visiting DC. It's worth the trip. No need to make reservations at any other restaurant if you're already lodging there. Jardenea is a best-kept secret in DC dining. Although, maybe not such a secret...
Staff was very friendly, on point with service and knew their job well. The food was amazing from beginning to end. Drinks were flavorable and not watered down. Top notch quality service, well with your money spent.
Great food, fast pre theater menu. Or waiter Derek was exceptional!
Jardenea was hidden off the lobby of the Melrose Georgetown Hotel in Washington DC, and didn't really look like an actual restaurant, more than a collection of tables, but the food was delicious. It was President's Day, so the hotel and the restaurant was very quiet.
The bartender at the lounge was very friendly and helpful, and let the waitstaff at Jardenea know my companion was running late for our reservation, and transferred my cocktail over to the restaurant bill. If you are staying at the Melrose, I recommend Jardenea.
Food and our waiter were very good but we had to wonder where management was as we waited to be greeted to be seated.
Always enjoy Jardenea. Rotating seasonal menu with 4 meat and 4 fish options. Brussels sprout appetizer and crab cake appetizer great to share. I tried veal cheeks, large portion very tender meat. Sea bass and salmon both excellent as well.
Quiet, great for conversation.
Service was excellent as always.
Excellent food and service. Odd location and no host/hostess, but very nice.
The staff meant well, but the delivery was poor. I appreciated their efforts with putting together an attractive menu, but the slow service really left us wanting more.
This place is under-rated, we did 4 courses as part of the theater menu option and it was insanely good. Service was incredible. Only very minor complaint is that on a Friday night they had few guests and was very quiet. It was not a typically restaurant on the side of a hotel experience, but more in that direction than the environment one may expect with food this food. Thank you!
First we had a little struggle to find it as we did not realise that this restaurant was part of a hotel. Once in the lobby it wasn't obvious where to go so we asked. There was nobody there, which was great for us so we had the place to ourselves. The service was good, the food was ok but not great for the price they were asking. Nice atmosphere though
All in all, a very good dining experience, except the salmon was a tad dry.
Loved everything! High class cooking, fresh real ingredients, welcoming, great service!!
Overall great food. Brussels sprouts, orzo lobster Mac-cheese that we couldn’t get enough of and incredible veal cheeks. Sides of pork tenderloin were a hit that left the tenderloin seeming only to be average. The texture of cream brûlée was gritty but flavors were solid as was the bourbon pecan dessert. Farm to table spirit was present in the menu but missed in decor which didn’t feel relaxed, and the offering of Norwegian artesian water.
Bad food. Bad service. Who the heck gave this 4 stars before?!
As usual, great food and service. Plus you can hear yourself talk!
This was the first time any of us had been to Jardenea, but it won't be the last! We shared the Brussel sprouts, one person had the salmon, another had the pork dish and I had the beet and goat cheese salad and crab cake appetizer and we had 3 different wine. We were very pleased with all the food and the service was superb. In addition, it was very quite which made for good conversation.
I look forward to returning for a meal and also plan to check their meeting pace.
Service takes a while for larger parties, but the food is great. Seasonal cocktails are more 'strong' than they are 'seasonal' but that's not a bad thing! Staff is friendly, could be more attentive but no real complaints. Overall a decent place, would recc to a friend if they were in the area!
Poor service. Slow.
Biggest tell: Jam jars on table at dinner left from breakfast.
A little pricey, but worth every penny. First class experience in every way.
The food was beautiful and delicious. We were there for brunch before going to the ballet at Kennedy Center.
Made the reservation online. When I arrived and found the restaurant inside a hotel with mediocre decor, I was worried! All the angst unnecessary. The food was excellent as well as the service. Would recommend
It was an overall good experience but The menu choices were somewhat limited.
Innovative menu and heartfelt if not always flawless service. They got us out in time for our curtain at KC. Nice to have another choice in the neighborhood!
Wonderful food, great presentation. We were one of the only diners there, which was puzzling, but we enjoyed the quiet!
Change in staff is definitely affecting the best and usual service I am used to there.
A perfect place for a quiet business lunch. Menu suited everyone and with enough choice/variety. Food was very good.
After a long journey, this restaurant was an easy option. It was quiet, lacked atmosphere but was adequate for tired travellers.
This was our first visit. Arrived at 5 for 5:30 reservation. Had to find the bartender to pass the time. Sat at 5:30 and told waiter that we had tickets for 8:00 and needed to leave by 7:30. Food delivery took forever. Finally got entree at 6:50. Rushed thru dinner and dessert. Took a cab to KC since we were out of town to walk. The good was decent but disappointed in kitchen timing. Waiter was good.
Enjoyed dinner after a stressful week visiting patients at GWU Hospital.
It’s been a couple of years since I last visited. It has improved, though I really enjoyed it then! I would have to say this is one of my FAVORITE restaurants in DC. Responsible sourcing is a huge part of my love for this place, but the preparation, presentation and atmosphere are all excellent. One note: my only negative-ish comment is the lack of a maitre’d or any kind of guidance until you’ve found the restaurant itself. No problem if you’ve been before, but for first-timers, it could be a bit confusing.
No one available to seat us or anywhere in sight. Had to ask hotels front desk to get seated.
Tables on either side of us were un bussed before we walked in and remained that way until we left.
Food crumbs all over the floors under every table.
Had to wipe off our own table which still had crumbs on it.
Ordered eggs benedict and got hardboiled eggs on it
A bit difficult to find as there is no signage outside or inside. The restaurant is located off the lobby of the Melrose Hotel, in fact part of the restaurant is in the lobby. It was a Sunday evening and the restaurant was empty when we arrived and empty when we left. Not usually a good sign however the food was excellent. Service was fine as you might expect with being the only people dining that night.
In addition to some appetizers, one of us ordered seared salmon and and the other the lamb shank. Both entrees were delicious and well prepared. The portions were fairly large and we ended up taking home a doggy-bag.
This is a very good restaurant. It is clean, nice ambiance, convenient to Kennedy Center/ GWU area. Maybe it’s new and hasn’t been discovered yet.
William, our waiter, host, and even I think bartender, was unbelievably skilled and able to keep everything going well in the dining room. Everything we ordered, with the exception of one creme brulee, was perfectly prepared, presented, and satisfying. Since the restaurant is in the hotel, one does get a bit of a "hotel restaurant" feeling, but the quality of the service and food was well beyond any typical hotel restaurant.
Very nice ambience, unfortunately I cannot recommend this establishment because several family members sent their food back and the food server (Nelson) put all our food on one bill. Now I understand this can happen from time to time however, he had no clue how to rectify this situation forcing our party of 12 to split the bill 6 ways which undoubtedly left a sour taste in some mouths because obviously they ate less but were forced to absorb the cost because the server didn't know how( he said it would take him 30 minutes or more as if this was an inconvenience to him.
Perfect! The Chef is a culinary genius with seafood and farm to table vegetables.
Great food! Empty restaurant. We needed someplace quiet and laidback for a special dinner. Booked 6pm, restaurant was empty. Perfect for us. We were able to relax and connect with old friends. Food and wine were great!
Enjoy the quiet while dining at Jardenea. Would have given a better rating on the food served, but I'm particularly fussy with salad and though the ingredients were fresh and tasty, it was a bit overdressed.
Otherwise rest of meal was quite good. Will continue to dine at Jardenea.
We had excellent service and the food was amazing. Thank you all so much. A prefect pre-theatre meal for date night.

Yes, you can generally book this restaurant by choosing the date, time and party size on OpenTable. Due to local restrictions, this restaurant may not be accepting reservations at the moment.
