service today was not that great
Food here is always amazing. I got the crispy mango shrimp and it was delicious. One of my favorite spots!
Japonais Bistro has an impressively expansive menu and everything my girlfriend and I tried on our first visit was terrific! It was my first time having ‘real’ sushi or sashimi, and I wasn’t pleasantly surprised by how tasty everything was. The rolls we tried, as well as the desert we had (banana spring rolls) were both absolutely to-die-for. Pro-tip: get the lychee ice cream!
they try not to award you Open table points
they have done it several.times to us and other people.
Food is amazing . Service not so much. We had to flag down the host to get us our server, not impressed. Again, food was amazing, best sushi in Edmonton.
Very nice , too many decisions to make- everything looked great
We are "foodies" who like good food of various kinds. We ordered somewhat unusual items (ie not the usual run of maki sushi) and loved all of it. We will definitely go again and would recommend, without hesitating, it for quality of food, for ambiance, for service and for price.
Our server gave us 0 attention. Every time we needed something, we had to search for her or wave down other servers to go find her (even to pay our bill!)
Great sushi, some of the best in Edmonton
By far the best sushi I’ve had to date in Edmonton
We were there on a holiday and they were understaffed. The service was not optimal
Everything was delicious minus the ‘love crunch’ roll. Sounds delicious in writing, couldn’t stomach it to eat. We had one roll each and had to fight to keep it down! Told the waiter it was not good... needless to say we paid twenty dollars for a roll we hated. All the other rolls were amazing!!!
Always an amazing good quality lunch. Friendly staff and good service. It’s my favourite place to go to for a Japanese bento.
Great food! Very consistent and fresh
I have been to Japonais Bistro twice . Both times the food was exquisite, and the presentation was lovely. While the servers were friendly and warm, the actual service was very slow. I felt the timing of the dishes brought out was poor in that both dishes (main and dessert) for me were brought out first and my friend still had to wait another several minutes for hers. I would highly recommend JB if you can afford the time.
The food was fabulous! We will definitely be back.
Good food and great service!! Keep it up
Food and drinks were both excellent. Food came quickly. Ambiance was great! Will definitely be returning in the near future!
Fresh and delicious sushi! Great variety and wonderful service!
Excellent service and good
Always a good experience
It was very good service and the food was awesome!
This is our goto place for sushi and everything Japanese cuisine. Top quality food. Everything on the menu is delicious. Excellent choices. Great friendly staff. Hello kitty is the best fruity drink on the menu!! The pressed hamachi and salmon sushi is amazing. Highly recommend tuna tacos for those raw tuna lovers. My goto appy.
Cool place. Foods good. Very consistent. Staffs are super nice.
Second time going there and the food is phenomenal. A bit expensive for what you get but amazing.
Tuna tacos are unbelievable.
Definitely would recommend. Probably the best sushi in the city
Always perfect, every time. Highly recommended for most any occasion!
Low watt bulbs, jazzy music. Great service, and great sushi. Consistently best downtown.
My wife and I went here for our anniversary dinner. The ambiance was pleasant and the food was prepared very well. It was a little bit pricey but the sushi was really good. I’ve had cheaper sushi before but you know what they say you get what you pay for.
Loved the smoky flavour on the Pressed Salmon Sushi
Food was top quality and service was great. Good drink selection too. Would definitely recommend to anyone for a unique and wonderful sushi experience.
Always the best quality of fish. This is something we look for when choosing a sushi restaurant.
Lovely place with great servers and delicious food
Good food always. Great for groups and sharing. Haven’t had a bad meal yet.
Love the specially made sushi with the hot oil and fried garlic chips. The new style roll and sushi is a must. The owl rice beer was surprising too good. Hope next time they will have the ashahi black in stock. Had a wonderful time.
Disappointing. This restaurant used to be a go-to for me, but the prices have skyrocketed and the portions have shrunk dramatically. They installed heated bidet toilet seats in the ladies' room and seem to be trying to seem like a higher-class place just by increasing prices and decreasing portions. The food isn't even as good as it used to be. I wore my jacket through dinner because it was freezing in there. The tuna tataki is now tiny, the wagyu beef is gristly, and the rolls are drenched in sauce. A glass of plum wine costs what a whole meal used to cost. We spent about $100 for two (plus paid street parking) and left hungry. We went across the street to On the Rocks after dinner, and ate again. The service at Japonais is ~okay~ (they're often understaffed) and the seats are relatively comfortable, and the music is quiet. If you don't mind freezing when it's cold outside then it's an ok place to take a date, but be prepared for a bill that isn't proportional to what you got. If you're looking for a nice date restaurant with good food that's worth the price, consider Louisiana Purchase instead.
Good as always. Coming rom the west coast this is the best sushi I have found in Edmonton
