Food was fantastic!!! As was the ambiance. Our waitress was just very bland
Fabulous birthday meal, we loved food and the ambiance and location are unbeatable
Chicken was very dry, vegetables weren’t cooked properly.
Veggie miso soup was burnt.
Very overpriced for what we were served.
Service was fine.
We only have one problem with this restaurant. It has very poor ventilation, so we leave smelling like the smoke from a fryer.
Hands down, Japango is the best sushi in town! And to top it off, it has a great atmosphere and great service!
Food and service was very, very good. They offered a nigiri special, which we ordered as an appetizer. However, it did not come until our meals had been delivered and half eaten. The server explained that sushi items came from a different kitchen. I wish he had explained this to us first and asked us if we wanted our main entrees after the nigiri. We had to ask for a fork for the salmon teriyaki entree. I know this is a Japanese restaurant, but this is not exactly chopsticks food item in the USA.
To their credit, the menu was impressive and the food did not disappoint. The ambiance is awesome, if not a little noisy. The bar is really cool.
Service was great. Sushi = average. We had a good time but I have had much better sushi. Really was pretty bland. Just not a lot flavor and that was the attempt to order some of the spicier rolls.
Great times/great food!
We enjoyed our first experience at Japango as a part of Firstbiteboulder. We would recommend Japango to sushi enthusiasts. Great atmosphere. Great bar selection.
Sushi was excellent, service was great. Creative menu.
Birthday celebration which has become a regular place for this. Not thrilled with service. One of the kids accidentally ordered the oyster tequila shot and the waitress was adamant that we ordered and therefore someone had to take it. We also wee celebrating 2 birthdays this week 11/4 and 11/9 but it wasn't acknowledged with our bday dessert and I actually think I got s roll of the eyes when I said we had 2 biryhdays. For the over $300 we spent for just 7 people and the fact that we are regulars, I was a bit taken back with this service. With the automatic tip of 18% added , I feel taken advantage as tips are to let the server know they did s good job and for this I normally give 20%, but being forced to pay 18% for service I did not appreciate is not good
Sunday night dinner with my two student Buffs. It was a lovely experience. The food was amazing. Sunday night Happy Hour saki, dynamite bowl, New Style shashimi and some fantastic rolls. We will be back!
It is a pretty good restaurant for a date in boulder
Service friendly but a bit haphazard with one beer and one of our appetizers forgotten but delivered once prompted. Loud and lively at the back with lots of families. Good food as always.
Our daughter (sushi lover) lives in Boulder and we were visiting for the weekend with cousins. This is our daughter's favorite restaurant, so we were happy to take her here. We were a group of sushi-eaters and non-sushi eaters and we all had plenty to choose from and we all enjoyed our meals. The ambience is great - with a jellyfish tank and other cool decor. Our waitress was happy to help us decide on drinks and entrees to order. My cousin tried one of the special cocktails and really loved it. Overall, a great dining experience!
Love this restaurant, especially when you can get seating in the lounge area. The comfy seating is very welcoming for conversation and for sharing their amazing food.
And definitely try the white ninja!
My husband and I went to Japango for dinner on a Friday night before a show at the Boulder theater. We told our server, Kat, ahead of time that we were on a bit of a time crunch to make it to a show, and she did a stellar job of ensuring our food came out promptly! She also specifically suggested dishes that were likely to come out faster from the kitchen. We were really impressed with the great service we received from her, despite a packed dining room, and we made it to the show in plenty of time. Everything we ordered was fresh, creative, and super tasty as well! The atmosphere there is fun and lively. We look forward to returning the next time we are in Boulder.
Really good food. Love the jellyfish aquarium. Wine is a bit pricey.
It's always 50/50 chance it will either be pretty good or not good at all. My daughter loves sushi so we dine there often, unfortunately this was one time it was definitely not worth it.
Above average sushi. Waiter was attentive at first, then practically disappeared when it was clear we didn’t want to order any more alcoholic beverages. That being said, the sake was outstanding. Very hip crowd. Not a very traditional Japanese vibe. More along the lines of Boulder casual cool. Enjoyable, but not my favorite Japanese’s dining in Boulder. That award still goes to Amu on Spruce.
Server brought appetizer with the rest of the food but yet forgot to bring the starter salads and charged us for them. Slow and inattentive service; she didn't come back to ask if we wanted another drink. Really seemed to rush us and yet the restaurant wasn't even half full. With other top sushi places in boulder, we won't be back. Although I have to admit the blue fin tuna was awesome.
We enjoyed all the sushi, and lobster potstickers
delicious . Also, the sashimi was so fresh .
Thank you .
We really enjoy Japango, it's about the only Boulder sushi restaurant we go to. This last time, the service was a little slow, and they messed up some of our order. But once we started getting food, and pointed out the mistakes, they were taken care of promptly. The sake on tap was also not that great this time, we'll probably go back to higher grade sake. We'll go back to Japango, but this wasn't our best visit.
very good sushi and great service. We shared wine, sushi rolls and a few appetizers. All very good
This less-than-stellar review pertains to a Tuesday all-you-can-eat sushi night, or at least this particular one. Japango has been one of our favorite restaurants, and go-tos, for the past 10 years, and 95% of the time we have been very pleased with its food quality - every restaurant has its down moments. However, supermarket sushi would have been better than this night's sushi that was incredibly dry and flavorless. The rice was hard and crumbling and the flavors of each ingredient didn't stand out like they should. I questioned the waiter, who also was not as knowledgeable or attentive as they usually are, but attempted to be helpful when asked. His (and the manager's) response was that they were now attempting to make a lot of the popular rolls in advance on all-you-can-eat night to help with quicker turnaround. I understand attempting to be more efficient, but the refrigeration must have caused the dryness and flavorlessness...or maybe they need to cover it better. Additionally, many rolls that should have been hot, were not. Or came out cold with a hot sauce. Or somewhat warm on the outside and cold in the center. We have been to previous all-you-can-eat evenings and none of this had ever been an issue, previously. It's normally a decent deal ($42 per person), but typically if you eat large quantities...which we do. If you have a normal appetite, stay away from the all-you-can-eat menu unless you make sure to order only items that will definitely be freshly made for you...unless they have received too many complaints like mine and have reverted to serving only the freshest sushi.
Absolutely wonderful! Excellent service and interesting menu. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. Will definitely be returning.
Exceptional as always
An excellent and unique restaurant on Pearl Street. Great location, great food.
Great lunch - plenty of delicious food in a great atmosphere at a very reasonable price. What more could you want?
Delicious but took over an hour to get our sushi, so we had to take our meal to go as we had our baby with us. But, once we ate our sushi at home it was quite good!
Excellent, interesting food. Friendly atmosphere. Best tempura ever.
Japango Sushi Restaurant offered a nice variety of creative starters, soups, salads, sushi, sashimi and entrees. Great decor with unique aquarium. Friendly attentive staff - looking forward to returning!
The food tasted exellent and we were served quicly and friendly.
Great food. Service was off. Have dined here before. Ended up doing a late lunch and staff could quite adapt being between lunch and dinner menu. We got thru it and the food was great but it's all about the service.
Nice place to eat, food and service were excellent.
I have been coming to Boulder for years but just found Japango. Excellent sushi! Great ambiance, wonderful service. I returned to Japango numerous times during my recent stay in the area. I will go back whenever I find myself in Boulder.
They brought our food to the wrong table, hardly an apology. Had to wait for them to start over. We ran out of water, took at least 10 minutes to get another water pitcher. No discount for the errors, won't go back.
We have been going to Japango weekly over the last several years. No more. We have recently been very disappointed with management, increased prices and the quality of the food.
