Japango Sushi Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Our family of four went to dinner on Valentine's Day. Our table was ready at our reservation time. It took quite a while for our server to take our drink order. The manager dropped off a bowl of yukky brussel sprouts to snack on. Our meals were good. Restaurant is small and tight and very crowded. But it was a holiday. I have been there several times for lunch and it was a more enjoyable experience.
My fiancé and I came for Valentine’s Day dinner ... got a seat at the sushi bar (as promised). Love watching the chefs create such beautiful plates and interacting with them, really fun friendly group! Service was easily five stars, food was better! We will be back again without a doubt. One of our favorite places. Thank you!
Good food, mediocre service and pleasant environment. Service here is inconsistent. On this occasion, we didn’t receive water, napkins or acknowledgement from our server for more than 10 minutes after being seated. The cocktails arrived after the appetizers. The water glasses were only refilled upon request, and the server was not attentive.
The food was fresh and had nice flavor. The Otoro Nigiri special was excellent, melt in your mouth; but also expensive @ $18 for two pieces.
Go here for the food, but expect relaxed service.
Unfortunately, part of our order got lost, so we had to inquire about our food, and ended up canceling it altogether after waiting around 30-40 minutes. We come all the time, so this was definitely an anomaly. Regardless, it was handled well once pointed out. The food and service we did get was great, as per usual. I think some wires just got crossed this time! Don't miss the pork belly - I finally tried it for the first time, and it was great!
Our very expensive clothes smell terrible. Coats, scarves, sweaters, everything. We have been there before and enjoyed it. You guys need to do something with your ventilation.
We will now have to get all of the things that I am describing laundered. Hung my coat up when I got home and now our whole closet smells like fried fish. We have all our clothes in the garage now.
Food and service was very, very good. They offered a nigiri special, which we ordered as an appetizer. However, it did not come until our meals had been delivered and half eaten. The server explained that sushi items came from a different kitchen. I wish he had explained this to us first and asked us if we wanted our main entrees after the nigiri. We had to ask for a fork for the salmon teriyaki entree. I know this is a Japanese restaurant, but this is not exactly chopsticks food item in the USA.
To their credit, the menu was impressive and the food did not disappoint. The ambiance is awesome, if not a little noisy. The bar is really cool.
Birthday celebration which has become a regular place for this. Not thrilled with service. One of the kids accidentally ordered the oyster tequila shot and the waitress was adamant that we ordered and therefore someone had to take it. We also wee celebrating 2 birthdays this week 11/4 and 11/9 but it wasn't acknowledged with our bday dessert and I actually think I got s roll of the eyes when I said we had 2 biryhdays. For the over $300 we spent for just 7 people and the fact that we are regulars, I was a bit taken back with this service. With the automatic tip of 18% added , I feel taken advantage as tips are to let the server know they did s good job and for this I normally give 20%, but being forced to pay 18% for service I did not appreciate is not good
Our daughter (sushi lover) lives in Boulder and we were visiting for the weekend with cousins. This is our daughter's favorite restaurant, so we were happy to take her here. We were a group of sushi-eaters and non-sushi eaters and we all had plenty to choose from and we all enjoyed our meals. The ambience is great - with a jellyfish tank and other cool decor. Our waitress was happy to help us decide on drinks and entrees to order. My cousin tried one of the special cocktails and really loved it. Overall, a great dining experience!
My husband and I went to Japango for dinner on a Friday night before a show at the Boulder theater. We told our server, Kat, ahead of time that we were on a bit of a time crunch to make it to a show, and she did a stellar job of ensuring our food came out promptly! She also specifically suggested dishes that were likely to come out faster from the kitchen. We were really impressed with the great service we received from her, despite a packed dining room, and we made it to the show in plenty of time. Everything we ordered was fresh, creative, and super tasty as well! The atmosphere there is fun and lively. We look forward to returning the next time we are in Boulder.
Above average sushi. Waiter was attentive at first, then practically disappeared when it was clear we didn’t want to order any more alcoholic beverages. That being said, the sake was outstanding. Very hip crowd. Not a very traditional Japanese vibe. More along the lines of Boulder casual cool. Enjoyable, but not my favorite Japanese’s dining in Boulder. That award still goes to Amu on Spruce.
Server brought appetizer with the rest of the food but yet forgot to bring the starter salads and charged us for them. Slow and inattentive service; she didn't come back to ask if we wanted another drink. Really seemed to rush us and yet the restaurant wasn't even half full. With other top sushi places in boulder, we won't be back. Although I have to admit the blue fin tuna was awesome.
We really enjoy Japango, it's about the only Boulder sushi restaurant we go to. This last time, the service was a little slow, and they messed up some of our order. But once we started getting food, and pointed out the mistakes, they were taken care of promptly. The sake on tap was also not that great this time, we'll probably go back to higher grade sake. We'll go back to Japango, but this wasn't our best visit.
