Japango Sushi Restaurant
We love Japango and usually have a great experience in terms of good and service. Unfortunately, this time we kept having to remind our waitress to bring things and they ran out of food so we could get some sushi we wanted. Everything we had we loved.
Love love love this restaurant!!! It's our go to sushi place, plus it's right on Pearl Street so great people watching!
Best sushi in town with one of the best whiskey selections in town.
We love Japango - best sushi in Boulder!
Service was pretty awful. Took 15 minutes for someone to finally take our drink order.
Great food and great service!! See you next time.
Food was good. The pork belly was the best. The sashimi was slightly cook which was unusual and did not like.
A good atmosphere, but the food was very mediocre, especially for what we paid.
Delicious meal - will definitely go back in the near future.
Haven't been back in many years. Food quality really went down. Did the all you can eat Tuesday. Not worth it.
While the food was fantastic, it took OVER an hour for us to receive our sushi order (the bulk of our dinner) - and half an hour after we asked about it. The restaurant was not full (a Monday night), so there was no reason for such poor service. This was not just an annoyance, but with a Type 1 diabetic teen at the table, actually became dangerous. I am sad to say this, because I really do enjoy their rolls, especially the salmon roll with cream cheese (something I would normally avoid). If they could get their act together, this would be my #1 go-to.
My family ventured in from Denver where we were staying on vacation (in from Atlanta) and happened to book a reservation for this restaurant on a night where Happy Hour goes on until they close, so the restaurant was very busy which is likely why the service was a little bit slow. However, the manager noticed that we'd waited a fair amount of time for our entrees and without our even asking, offered his apologies and then some. We respect any business that operates in this manner, and will certainly dine here again on our next trip to Boulder, as the sashimi was superb and reasonably priced, and the appetizers were all very tasty.
Excellent food and service.
Sushi was very good. Have had better sushi, but this is a solid 4 star sushi place
Very good sushi
Very enjoyable meal. Its a beautiful restaurant wellrun
Love this place ... I've been going here for years and it's my absolute favorite sushi restaurant in Boulder. Incredible food, the service was especially outstanding this time around, our server Hannah was top notch. It's pricey but it's sushi so what do you expect. Totally worth it and next time I'm in town I'll definitely want to go again.
Very fun downtown Boulder restaurant. Good service, nice options on the menu. Lighting is a little low for the very small print on the menu...
The food was extremely overpriced and we our server was overwhelmed. We had to get our own menus for the kids and they forgot their meal. It was $300 for 2 adults and 2 little kids. I will NOT be back.
Delicious! Our server was run off his feet with tables all around the restaurant, but he did a good job getting us taken care of.
The “1/2 off wine list was not updated, which was frustrating. Then, we ordered the 56.00 bottle from standard menu, only to be told that was out too. So, they presented my table with a 126.00 bottle, which of course I yielded to. The reservation stated it was a business meal, so obviously I’m not going to say no when pressured in front of customers.
Thanks for the oversell Japango. Update your wine list.
Always great! First date, proposal, and 7 years later this place is beyond special to us. Love the food!
We went for an early lunch. It was ok, nothing spectacular. Our waitress was great with service. I’ve had better food though.
Waiter was outstanding in recognizing a birthday. This itself made the visit worthwhile. And the sashimi, sea weed salad and sushi were excellent!
We really enjoyed the our meals. The fish was very fresh and we loved the ice cream they served us. The service was excellent.
Outstanding. Best restaurant in boulder
Always a great meal
Went for a post graduation meal. Food was delicious and setting felt nice and relaxed. Our waitress was very nice and attentive but unfortunately forgot to put in one of our main orders, which came out late minus the miso soup it was supposed to come with. Luckily we weren’t in a hurry. Otherwise a great experience.
Great food. Innovative dishes, but be patient with the service
I'v dined at Japango many times, the sushi is the best in Boulder. I was disapponted with the confussing price of the champagne on the mothers day menu. When questioned after recieving the bill the manager was combatative and made my experience less than desirable. I wont be returning.
Such yummy food!! Love the Denali Roll - my all time favorite dish here!! Fun for families, as well as a couple.
Kiley was an outstanding server. She was knowledgeable about the menu, excellent recommendations and very attentive to our table - thank you, Kiley!!
Fun! great food. Fantastic service. Good for kids.
Friendly and welcoming staff. The food is unique and fresh with delicious flavors. It’s my son’s favorite Boulder sushi!
John and his team have developed an outstanding dining experience. We always enjoy our dinner at this outstanding sushi restaurant.
The kitchen lost our sushi order sheet so it took a pretty long time for our food to come out. However, they did take some off of our final check and gave us ice cream on the house. The food was fantastic and I would highly recommend this restaurant.
"Stingy" is what comes to mind when I recall the size of a $22 Hamachi sashimi platter when it arrived at our table. The strips of fish literally were the size of canned anchovies. "Puny" is how I would describe a $15 Hamachi hand-roll -- perfect size for a five-year-old's hand. "Chintzy" is the $16 Heart's Delight maki roll, which is claims to include "Tempura Asparagus, Cucumber and Avocado topped with Yellowtail, Tuna, Serrano Chiies, Sweet Mayo, Black Sesame Seeds and Fresh Lemon Juice." The description suggests a bulging taste sensation, not the hot-dog sized roll presented.
The food is fresh and reasonably prepared, but the portions are utterly Scrooge-like.
Overrated! What a disappointment! JAPANG-NO!
Horrible service, boring food, super cool fishtank with jellyfish. Seriously, that is the best part...go in and have a gander at the tank, then leave and get the service you deserve somewhere else.
We were a party of 4 on Friday night 4.19.19 at 730. Arrived on time and our server knew none of us had been there before and we had a sushi virgin with us! Not to mention we were celebrating 2 birthdays! Our server was made aware of all of this, btw.
Sadly, we rarely saw her ...took a while to get our drink order in...then took longer to get the food order in, 2 apps and 4 rolls. The restaurant was pretty busy, and I have spent 15 years in the industry, so I am very patient. We received the apps in a timely manner, but the rolls took so long that our server informed us that she put an order of Brussels sprouts in for us to compensate for the delay. It would have been nice if she asked us if we wanted them, but it was a nice gesture. Unfortunately, they were inedible! Crazy salty! And they came out with our rolls anyway.
The rolls, 2 on the regular menu, and 2 from the specials, all boring! This would have been fine, as I said, we've never been here before and we are patient, except we were never checked on! Which also means we couldn't get our drinks refilled.
When our server finally came to the table (over an HOUR later) and asked us how we were doing, our response was "HUNGRY"! No lie, my husband said that to her and she laughed. As funny as it was, it wasnt to us. The restaurant was emptying out and our server ignored us more and more. We ordered 2 more rolls which also took forever and were also boring. We didn't leave this restaurant until after 11pm!!! What the actual "F"? I'm grateful to not be rushed, but we actually had other plans that we missed because of how ignored we were at this meal.
Dont waste your life eating at Japang-NO!
Shame on you Japango! What a missed opportunity.
This was our third visit to Japango and we were not disappointed. The sushi is sliced on the thicker side and we really like their sashimi utopia. It was Monday and were able to take advantage of their all day happy hour prices on the cocktails! Finally - we love the fact that even with a full restaurant, the noise level is not too high and we can still talk to each other - and the jellyfish aquarium is cool to watch. Japango is one of our go-to restaurants when we are in Boulder.
We were visiting our daughter who is a freshman at CU. This is my 3rd time eating here and it never disappoints. Riley was our server and she was perfect especially since my mother cannot have any salt whatsoever. She and the chefs cane up with an entire meal she could eat. Please thank her and the chefs again from us.
