The filafil pizza was good - interesting take on an usual middle eastern staple. The main lamb turmeric entree was not to our liking, the dolma appetizers and hummus were ok.
We were very impressed with the excellent service and the fact that we could talk easily. The pizza appetizer with the garbanzo crust was terrific. The lamb dolmas were very tasty but a lot of the same flavor throughout. I will definitely go back and try some other dishes soon.
We had a dinner at this middle eastern family style restaurant. Very friendly staff and owners. The dining room is modestly decorated and clean. The number one reason to stop by is the food. They have entrees that are similar to offerings around the city but with small changes that provide unique taste sensations. Try the stuffed dolmas. You'll wish you had skipped lunch so you could ask for more. Although stuffed, we decided to share the rice mousse dessert and left another plate shiny clean.
Once I discovered Jannah, I keep going back. I even had my birthday celebration there with 18 people in December. Wonderful place, delicious food, great service and authentic Iraqi food.
I definitely recommend Jannah.
Very nice mezze and lamb shank. Authentic, healthy food of good value. Not noisy and relaxing atmosphere with good service. Definitely I will go back again.
We dined shortly after five on a Thursday, and it was quiet with few other customers. The space is neat and freshly painted, but hard finished and rather bare, so a full house might be noisy. Delicious, inventive food; we will definitely go again.
Our party of four arrived early for our 7 pm reservation and were welcomed and seated promptly. Service started off a bit slowly for ordering drinks and appetizers, but once we got rolling, service kept up with us. We ordered muhamara and Urook pizza as appetizers. Then all four of us ordered entrees, but we should have split two - so much food! Everything was good, and we enjoyed having leftovers of salmon and chicken kabobs, perdaplow, kuzi, and lamb shank tabsee. Also enjoyed kunefe for dessert. We'll be back!
The restaurant accommodated our 1-hour early arrival (reservation for 10)! Although the restaurant was full, service was excellent. I would recommend this venue for their authentic food, friendly service and comfortable ambiance.
Wonderful, soul-warming food and hospitality. I was recognized and warmly greeted the second time I went, and the food was even better the second time.
Fabulous dinner! The Perdaplow, a phyllo dough with shredded chicken, rice, almonds, and raisins was delicious. We also had the Lamb Hind Shank with caramelized onion, grilled eggplant, walnuts, and roasted bell pepper in pomegranate and yogurt sauce. Very tasty!
Wonderful food. Reasonable prices. Nice people
Great presentation of plates; vibrant, colorful, and the combination of spices explode the palate. very satisfying. Parking is available at the supermarket across the street - double plus!
What a find. The food is authentic with Cali twist; fresh, flavorful, and creative. The service was attentive. It's at kind of off the beaten path but the patrons kept coming in while we were there (7:30-9:00pm) that itself tells you something. We'd definitely go back to try other dishes.
Amazing food! Service was incredible. They really took care of us.
Great food, excellent service. Unique cuisine. Not too many veggie or gluten-free dishes, but the ines we had were great.
Jannah is in our neighborhood and very easy stroll there. We enjoyed our meal which was authentic and different - Iraqi Middle Eastern cuisine. We had a wonderful chat with the owner who is from Iraq and very knowledgeable about what is happening there. The place is quiet, comfortable and a good, reasonable place to go with friends when you actually want to talk to each other.
Great take on traditional Iraqi cuisine. Real enough to taste authentic, but inviting enough that everyone could enjoy it. Serving sizes were generous and great for sharing. Servers were friendly and attentive.
Creative Iraqi food. Flavor combinations I never experienced before.
Since I discovered Jannah, I go there fairly frequently. I keep introducing my friends to jannah.
I always love the food at Jannah. I have introduced this restaurant to many of my friends. They all liked it.
This was my first time having Iraqui food, the appetizers were very good, a plate with 3 different types of hummus with pita bread, it was quite good. I was so full afterwards that this would have been enough for the 3 of us. Our waiter was excellent being that we arrived early at 5 pm, rather than 5:30 pm, the time of our reservation. My main course was also very good, but by then I was too full to really enjoy the meal. We asked for hot tea to go with our dessert and the tea was excellent, if in the area, would go back.
I keep going back to Jannah and I introduce this amazing place to my friends--the food is delicious and the food is authentic
Neighborhood dining spot
Food was delicious!
Tasty food, attentive staff and quick service. While the decor is a bit sparse, the look and feel match the restaurant's ethnic cuisine.
Lovely meal at this restaurant. Food was delicious and service was good. We shared a salad, chicken kebab, and lamb shank, and a dessert. Everything was delicious and we had a great dinner date.
I keep going back and also bring my friends and family.
The food was very good. but there are better restaurants with higher quality food and service
Although announced online as an Iranian restaurant, it is actually a Northern Iraqi restaurant. The food was great we ordered a salad, a small pizza-like dish with lamb sausage and as an entrée a fatoosh salad with biriani beef. The salad was fresh with mint and other leaves. It was enough for two and quite satisfying. The downside was the service, the main waiter/manager seemed not to be very used to deal with customers. But overall the other waiters were atentive in serving water and answering questions. I would recomend to try it.
Once I discovered Jannah I keep bringing my friends. The food is delicious.
Loved it. Disappointed tagines are no
Longer festered. Have followed from Yaya days on 9th ave
Absolutely amazing food and service! I grew up with authentic Iraqi and Middle Eastern food and this place hit it spot on. Would highly recommend.
Excellent and unique Middle Eastern food. Portions are large and very shareable. Delicious! Will be back again soon!
I have become a regular customer at Jannah. I have introduced this restaurant to alot of my friends. We all like the food, generous portions, extremely tasty and great value. I highly recommend Jannah. You will not be disappointed.
We so love the family who runs this. The food is delicious and the service great.
We have been now twice and sure will be back.
Don't miss this great place and support local :)
We have visited Jannah for lunch and now dinner. The menu is varied and the food is fresh and very tasty. The menu reflects the owners' Iraqi/Middle Eastern cuisine. The service is very polite and attentive but it feels like a family run place, which it is. As a result one feels warmth and friendliness from the staff. The ambiance in the evening with soft, trendy lighting was especially pleasant. AND not noisy!
The appetizers are great.
The lamb shack was not that great.
Well, I have very mixed feelings about this place. The food is really interesting - a creative take on traditional Mesopotamian dishes. We really liked the food a lot, actually. It was fresh and very unique, and really great if you are vegetarian. The challenge on this particular night was that they were short-staffed and the service was about the worst I've ever had in San Francisco. The wait staff seemed to be in meltdown mode. We waited 90 minutes before we even got anything to eat - warm pita bread, which we had to ask for. About 15 minutes later, our main dishes came, and the waiter recognized that our appetizers had not yet arrived. A half-hour later, we were curious if the rest of our food would ever come, so we confronted the manager (maybe she was the owner) because we were very hungry and Papalote was just next door. The manager brought our three appetizers and said she would not charge us because they had someone call in sick. So, this is a difficult review. On another night, I'm guessing the service would be a 3 - nothing that would blow you away, but the great taste of the food and the low prices would make it worth it.
