At Jane, the menu showcases an affinity for local ingredients with what New York magazine calls “cleverly tweaked but unpretentious American cuisine.” To complement the food, Jane offers a hand-selected, extensive wine list and seasonally driven cocktails.
Jane is the sister restaurant to Sarabeth's Restaurants and Docks Oyster Bar.

What Insiders Are Saying
Head spinning after a long day of getting dragged around Soho with the female? Find salvation in a crisp Blue Point Toasted Lager draft and steak frites at Jane. It'll help restore the equilibrium. The predecessor to fratty East Village favorite, The Smith, Jane is its slightly more sophisticated older sister.
Delicious food and a very fun ambience! I loved this restaurant. I had the chicken and it was AMAZING. The waiter was very sweet and helpful. The wine was amazing and I will definitely be visiting again!
Used to be much better. Quality has definitely declined.
We didn't like the biscuits AT ALL - dense, dry, ick. And they were used in the eggs benedict...overall the food was medium.
Food was excellent and reasonably priced.
Made a reservation but still waited about 20 minutes. Continually told that our table was being cleared but not true. Finally placed us and 5 minutes later asked us to move to another table.
Being a little older than the usual crowd, felt we were pushed to the back of the restaurant not to be seen by the public walking by. Drinks came after the food, service not great. Never asked if we wanted a second drink. given the bill and out we went.
Tables along the wall a bit cramped. Waiters kept bumping into my dining companion sitting on the outside.
Amazing staff and ambiance. We enjoyed the recommendations made by the staff. Great brunch atmosphere!
This was my first time at Jane. I had the short rib hash special which was plentiful and flavorful. My friend had and egg and seafood dish which he loved. The host & server were both friendly & accommodating. The two of us lingered a bit longer then we expected and no one rushed us out. Will definitely be back!
The world-famous gnocchi was delicious and chicken was cooked perfectly—juicy yet crispy
The coffee was good, I like the restaurant and the food was delicious.
It's changed, food is not as tasty, the size of the food portions are smaller.
Jane has been a favorite of mine for years. The food and service are great. Generally the restaurant is not excessively noisy. A bit pricey but worth it.
Recommendation from georges berges art gallery in soho
Service was outstanding menu had a good selection with interesting preparations. Cauliflower app was great pork chop main was excellent
Nothing special - was just ok.
Meeting up with some good friends
The Jane Burger was a bit messy, but incredibly delicious and perfectly cooked. The side salad was nothing special but enjoyed it as a side option over fries. Our meals came out quickly and service was good. Only issues - it took us quite a while to get our check. And drinks, while good, are a bit overpriced. I’m all for high-priced cocktails when it makes sense, but these weren’t strong and had so much ice you could finish it in a few sips. My friend and I also ordered the same drink and mine came out with an obvious less amount. But overall - good spot. We made a reservation but even on a Saturday afternoon, seemed easy to walk in. Good energy. Good menu. Good location.
Love Jane! Its my go to place when in NYC. Great food, great service, great vibe!! Will be back for sure!
The Jane was a beautiful find, the food was artfully crafted—never masking or diminishing ingredients and Ebonni provided fantastic service. She recommended the Diplomat cocktail that paired beautifully with my grilled octopus, crab cake and gnocchi!
One my favorites spots to date!
Our latest visit is the perfect example of what to expect at Jane. Arrived for Sunday brunch and seated exactly at reservation time despite the place being completely packed. Then, despite being packed, were visited by our waitress right away. Then, despite being packed, drinks were brought within a few minutes.
I had decided on the steak frites with rosemary fries, ordered medium rare. Again, despite being packed, food was brought after only a short wait. The steak was cooked exactly perfect as ordered- so much so it was more accurate than some supposed steak restaurants I have been to. The perfect size portion of steak was butter-soft and not one piece of fat, grizzle or anything to be left on the plate. The nicely-portioned rosemary fries were perfectly crisp on the outside with actual rosemary taste.
Also, despite being packed, our waitress noticed after our server brought the food, that I was missing a steak knife and brought it immediately. We also ordered wine which we got within just a few minutes, despite being packed.
Just as I am amazed when "better" restaurants under less "challenging" circumstances cannot run their businesses well, I am impressed when a place like Jane seems to actually thrive and justify that they deserve the amount of business they get by delivering a great dining experience.
Tables are a bit cramped in the middle area. Brunch food was uninspired.
The food was fantastic! Be sure to save room for the flourless cake, it is to die for! We were upstairs and it was Easter Sunday, it was a bit loud. It cost us $100.00 dollars for eggs benedict, forgot what my husband had, 3 drinks and the cake, so a bit pricey. Still overall I will go again the food was that good.
We enjoyed it very much. While it was very crowded (Easter Sunday), the food was very good. The service was also good. Our server was attentive, and friendly.
Food took a long time to come out
This place is a bit long in the tooth for Manhattan. I should have done my research a bit more. Apps were very good but my salmon was WAY overcooked and the general feel and vibe of the place is old. Wouldn't return.
Good brunch food. Accommodating for vegans with delicious options.
Always a good choice for a late, leisurely lunch where you can have a conversation with table mates. Nice wine choices at "Happy Hour" prices. Delightful and knowledgeable waitress. Food is decent - mussels tasty but too many empty shells. Omelets creative and delicious. Rosemary fries still tasty. Prices seem to have jumped a lot since last visit though.
We had a very nice quiet dinner. Not crowded on Monday evening. Food and drinks were very good and wait staff was excellent. Will visit again the next time in NYC!
Service was very slow but food quality very good
Have been here numerous times, very early on Saturday mornings. Music too loud, requested it be turned down which it was. Almost every seating location directly under a speaker, very intrusive. The food is decent, not fabulous. The biscuit under my salmon benedict was an undertoasted, cold, yet hockey puck textured item. I suspect a slightly warmed up leftover. They could do better, fresh biscuit, properly toasted and warm...first time. Would not order again unless substitute for biscuit. Too bad, because I love biscuits and the idea is a nice variation on the usual English muffin or brioche.
Overpriced for what you get which is also not the best food
Except that the location is very convenient for tourists and SoHo shoppers, I don't know why anyone would go there. The service is polite but not very thoughtful (I wasn't allowed to sit at our table until my friend came, even though I had a reservation) Tables are on top of one another (no privacy of conversation). But mostly the food was pretty awful. The "Bloody Mary" tasted more like watered down "Virgin Mary" The Eggs Benedict -- eggs were over cooked, bacon was barely defrosted, bread was not toasted and tasteless, as was the sauce. And yet the restaurant has been there forever. Maybe it's just me, but I'll be sure to skip it.
Always great food and friendly folks at Jane. The chicken is superb, or try the burger!
Jane is a very dependable go to on the noho/Soho line with some fresh affordable lunch specials. It's a good place to go with friends for conversation.
They were amazing about my boyfriends birthday! They brought us champagne and cookies! Great dinner, great service.
Quiet mid week lunch. Food is wonderful. Space is fairly small and a little bland - but you’re there for the food, right?!
So overrated. I’ve tried it 3 times to see if once I was gonna have this “amazing food and experience” I’ve read about... no. I’d describe it as “okay” or “average”.
I had the salmon with the kale grits. Very good but the food WAs lukewarm.
Disappointing experience. My partner and I had lunch and each ordered the Seafood Cobb Salad, and french fries and calamari for the table. The salad was bland and had no dressing, lobster was rubbery, and the lettuce wasn't fresh. We had to ask the server for dressing twice. The fries were broken and soggy. The calamari appetizer was flavorless and the batter wasn't crispy. Service was slow and disingenuous. Less than lackluster lunch experience. Will not be returning.
Excellent food and even better service! Jane never disappoints me!
Menu looked really nice, but the food was just ok, a little disappointing.
The food was delicious and the ambiance was so hip and fun. With reservation the wait was minimal, and the staff were pleasant and helpful.
