Head spinning after a long day of getting dragged around Soho with the female? Find salvation in a crisp Blue Point Toasted Lager draft and steak frites at Jane. It'll help restore the equilibrium. The predecessor to fratty East Village favorite, The Smith, Jane is its slightly more sophisticated older sister.
too noisy due to very loud music. not needed or wanted on a Sunday afternoon.
My daughter and I had a wonderful meal at Jane. The cauliflower appetizer was the best. Great food and service!!
We were in the neighborhood, and wanted to try a local spot.
Very impressed with the quality of the food. Good service. My signature cocktail was the only disappointment.
LOVED their unique app. - spicy cauliflowet.
We will be back😀
Waitress hated her job tables crowded
Well, it’s normal restaurant. I expected so much, but it’s not excellent but average. Even I ordered Egg Benedict with Salmon, they served another Benedict. Of course, I told them about Food and they made it again. And taste was good but it’s not special. One time is enough for me to go to Jane.
I went here after a recommendation for brunch as a solo traveler. It didn't feel welcomed. The staff was unattentive and having their own fun (which is not something I'm againist but could be more interested at the same time). The price is expensive compared to much better breakfast locations around
Went once for date night and returned with our teenage son. The food is great, the wines are very good with many choices available. I can’t say enough nice things about the staff- the hostess is very welcoming and the waitstaff is really knowledgeable and super nice. We will return.
Although we had an Open Table reservation for 4, and the restaurant was empty, they tried to seat us at the most undesirable table. There was a general confusion amongst the staff. The waiter was not clear on the menu. The menu had strange pairings of food. The food was all pretty tasteless except for the flavor of heat. My daughter does not like chilis but loves mussels and asked if the chilis could be left out. She was told they could do a white wine broth instread. Great. Except, guess what? Tons more chilis than in the tomato chili broth. No garlic or any flavor except super hot. Just really an overpriced and amateurish operation.
Maybe the best Bloody Mary I have ever had. Perfect amount of spice Was disappointed when they ran out of the special pancakes, but the waitress assured me I would not be disappointed with the vanilla bean French toast. She was right. It was delicious. Shared the French toast and the crab cakes benedict, which also did not disappoint. Crab cake was full of crab and breaded just enough to hold it all together. The service was friendly and attentive. I do have to say, they pack you in. Tables are very close together, which could be a negative for some. To me it just added to the energetic vibe.
Food was fantastic, service was friendly and attentive. Only letdown was the bloody mary, which no one in our group found to be very good. Otherwise very positive experience.
Great food! Excellent service! Confusing music selection!
Service was incredibly slow. Even with reservations it took forever to get seated
We had a table for two and were seated quickly. That was the only good thing about today’s lunch. We waited 40 minutes to be served. Both meals were not warm and the waiter checked only once during the 40 minute wait. At the end of this meal the wrong check was presented and had to be corrected. It will be a VERY LONG TIME before we return.
You must get the gnocchi. One of the best bites of food I’ve ever had.
Waiting too long for the seating and food, even I had reservation, but it still take about 10mins for seating, and more than half hour for the food.
The pancakes were so good. I had them without the raspberry jam.
Very cute restaurant and not too loud or crowded for a family birthday dinner! A few mishaps with food and service. My brother’s wine glass was dirty, the guys delivering the food brought us someone else’s food twice, our french fries weren’t served hot but they happily took them back and brought us new ones, and the menu said the steak came with arugula salad, however it was just a regular arugula-less salad (the waiter said it was a typo on the menu? Ehh). Luckily my family doesn’t get phased too badly by imperfect service, but overall had a nice experience in a great area of town.
there are WAY WAY too many tables for this room, and way too many Wall street douchebags
Jane lived up to its name. Plain Jane. Omar and his new Assistant bar tender were the best. Irma our waitress as well. We had the iron steak -scallops -lobster roll and mussels. Eh—just ok. Barely .The avocado lettuce wrap(?) and Branzino special were very good. Good time —nice meal , place is tired and begging for some new clothes. There are tons of places to eat average at $ 90 a person. Drinks included😎
We loved this place! Excellent service. Food was delicious and good value. We brought friends from London and felt like locals. Highly recommend.
The food was really good....I recommend the avocado toast and mushroom eggs
So we found out they changed management and all i can day is WHY?! Food does not taste the same. The Jane Benedict that used to come with these awesome potatoes now only comes with a salad and you have to order a side of potatoes. And the potatoes are even the same as before. The food lacked flavor, bland. All in all, new management messed up a gem of a restaurant that had flavorful food. My wife and I travelled all the way from the Bronx, in traffic, to be disappointed. On the Positive, staff was great and fast.
Nice staff with great brunch!
Great food, excellent staff, and an overall good time. Our server was attentive but not pushy. Very nice not to feel rushed to finish or leave.
Our server was amazing! The food was delicious. Still raving about the home fries & the vanilla bean french toast!!!!
Great food & great service !!
Great dinner! Can’t wait to return! Staff was awesome and recommendations were on point
We went mid afternoon and it was very crowded. The food though was fantastic. We ordered off the brunch menu- the popover, steak frites, avocado toast- excellent. The service was friendly and attentive. Will be back!!
Jane is a neighborhood favorite of mine that rarely disappoints! With delicious food and excellent service, dinner there is a pleasure! The decaf cappuccino I had was so flavorful, I was sure it was caffeinated but it wasn't. Salmon with couscous was perfectly cooked and hit the spot.
Excellent food and service. The cauliflower starter is to die for.
I visited Jane for a lunchtime get-together. While other reviews speak of the place being crowded (like for brunch), the place was pretty empty. I ordered the full pasta dish of gnocchi and found the sauce had a pleasing taste on first bite or so. However, by the time I'd eaten about half of the dish it was no longer warm and the sauce had congealed in an unappetizing way and I no longer wanted to keep eating. My friend did well with her mixed drink but she found the lobster roll she'd ordered ($24) was quite skimpy. All in all, I'd have to say it was poor value and I will not be returning.
Always great! The popover is HUGE and delicious. We even had a kids french toast as an appetizer.
Food (omelette) just wasn’t good-didn’t know you could make eggs mediocre. Service wasn’t good. Not my best NY food experience.
French toast with strawberries was so yammy :-) and thank you for warm and beautiful window seat.
it's great food and excellent service.nice place .good for gathering and date
Tables are cramped together and it’s loud; try to get a table by the window. Small cocktail list not many good options, burger is good gnocchi not very flavorful.
The food at Jane was wonderful, and the servers were friendly, polite and apologetic--but it took over an hour for our food to emerge from the kitchen, while diners on all sides of us were being served much more quickly. The hostess brought an extra bottle of wine as an apology, but the wait was annoying.
Very busy place. We were only a very few minutes early and had to wait quite a while for our table which was a problem because there is no place to wait and we were constantly having to move for the waiters. When we were seated, the waiter seemed like he was in a rush to take our order and then ignored us completely.
The food was good. The ambiance and service was not.
Perfect Brunch spot! The food was cozy and delicious. Different enough to choose Jane over another spot. Our waiter was a bit Untrained but pleasant enough.
Loud bad music
