Every bit of our experience was 10/10. Food, service, atmosphere are all top-notch. Can’t wait to come back again!
While this is a lovely restaurant in terms of ambiance and service, the food is mediocre at best and highly over priced for what it is. The standouts for the evening were the charcuterie and the Jams chicken. The other items ordered were underwhelming and uninteresting. Both pasta dishes ordered tasted like meals that could have been quickly prepared at home, with no distinguishing flavor or character.
Comimos muy rico, en especial me gusto el Rib Eye. El lugar muy agradable y tranquilo.
Had a branch. I love the relaxing ambiance. Service was friendly and timely. Food was decent.
Very delicious restaurant week lunch—yummy ripe tomatoes and ricotta on sourdough bread followed by very fresh, perfectly prepared scallops. The $7 white wine from Portugal—another restaurant week special—was crisp, dry, well-chilled, just the thing for a hot summer day. Our server was attentive and quietly efficient.
I am sorry to say there is not one good word I can say about Jams except for the location and the lovely outside ivied walls. The food was awful. Drinks small and not good. Waitress disappeared constantly. Maitre d' a bit supercilious. And, of course, expensive. Would never recommend.
We found a new gem! Lovely environment and great menu.
My mom and I were visiting from Maryland. I took her there for her birthday and we absolutely l loved it! The food was excellent, she had the Jams chicken and I had the scallops with zucchini. They also gave us pan seared carrots and fritters. They were amazing! The service was outstanding along with the ambiance. We will indeed be back again.
We had previously enjoyed Jams but missed the fried chicken.
Enjoyed the peach dessert.
We came at an odd time.
The french toast and granola were so good that my friends gave their thumbs up and I’d recommend this restaurant to those who are finding places for weekend breakfast-brunch-lunch. Also, the restaurant is so cozy and good for friends meeting or family gathering.
Great food, ambiance and service. Plates servings are small but full of flavor. Nice signature drinks too.
This restaurant never disappoints. This time I went for Restaurant Week lunch and was thoroughly happy with everything we ordered/shared. For starters we had the kale salad (great taste and texture) and the ricotta toast with fresh tomatoes...delicious! For mains we had the always awesome roast chicken with salsa verde and the scallops. Both we wonderful, but if you can only do one, get the chicken!! Nice Restaurant Week wine options too. This continues to be a great place!
The food is great, the location is great (Just south of Central Park) and the staff was super attentive and knowledgeable.
The hostess was patently rude and standoffish. The waiter ignored us and wouldn’t take our order. We couldn’t wait to leave.
We were seated by a hostess and waited for 15 minutes for a waiter to come to our table. We received 2 refills of water but no waiter or waitress ever came so we left the restaurant.
Roast chicken salad was good but seemed like it should have been bigger. Had to ask for bread so assume it's not a "given." Waitress was wonderful and happily moved us away from poorly behaved children at next table.
We had gone for the smoked chicken, sadly it was taken off the menu and replaced with a sub par substitution. the food is always good, the service is slow but on thier game. Mgmt is top notch. Desserts were killer !!
The food has terribly deteriorated
Great convenient Midtown location, perfect for a long, late, lunch reunion with friends. Unhurried, relaxed service conducive to conversation and enjoying great comfort food and drinks. Highly recommended and close to many hotels and shopping.
I have been here 3 times so far and always very pleased. The food is fresh and prepared perfectly, everything I have tried is excellent, including desert. Lovely casual atmosphere, attentive service.
Way overpriced and poorly executed. The server barely paid attention to us. We had to ask a helper for an iced tea refill and an order of toast. Two small slices of toast are $5. Three strips of bacon are $9. Two of us ordered the “signature” ($19) poached egg dish and the eggs were hard boiled. When I mentioned this to the server, he admitted the eggs were way over cooked, but was matter of fact about it. He brought me one better cooked egg. If you can’t poach an egg, then give it up. This place is a total ripoff. We would have been better off eating at a basic diner, where they know how to cook an egg.
I had the chance to eat a Jam’s tonight. I’ll make one point from the onset; the food was great.
I’ve enjoyed every meal and dining experience I’ve had at Barbuto. However, by comparison, the Jam’s dining experience is very different. So, here it is; the restaurant runs like a machine, and depending on what you have in mind, perhaps that’s fine. One could argue that the service was a finely tuned, yet to me it felt engineered to move people in and out quickly. I felt rushed from the moment we sat down, to the moment we left, exactly 1 hour later. No one was rude, just highly efficient. We had cocktails and an appetizer that arrived together. As soon as the appetizer was finished our entrees were on the table. There was no time to order wine to pair with the food, and no offer for us to do so. I saw the host walk past us four times to see when we and other diners would be finished (he had a clipboard). We had a reservation, we would have ordered wine, we would have ordered dessert, but felt we had to make way.
Nice place - a real "buzz" - good menu, nice wines by the glass
Had chicken salad - not so much chicken in there - almost imperceptible!
Mentioned to waitress - not her fault - she was just doing her job, and very well too!
Mediocre. Marginal. Vanilla. B Flat. Ambience: Cold, starting with the decor, a style which I remember from decades ago. Food: The beef was tough. Change the menu; offer more/other selections. Service: average. The waiter forgot to bring dessert menus: you lost a sale; I lost my desire. All in all, nothing to write (home) about...But I did.
It was our second time. The first was brunch last summer and the fact that we remembered and went back this summer days a lot.
the food was perfect for Lunch.. the perfect amount of food and great taste. the fudgesicle with peanut butter granita for desert was amazing... !! I would defintely go back.
Unfortunately they had a Father’s Day buffet, we had been hoping to try their brunch menu. Most of the selections were good but some had been out for a bit.
Your paying for the proximity to theaters.
Went here for brunch to celebrate a birthday in NYC for the weekend. The atmosphere is lovely - very cool and welcoming restaurant. The service was extremely slow and the waiter seemed completely clueless, so that was disappointing. When the food arrived, it was delicious! They need to work on the service for me to come back! It wasn’t that busy to be as scattered as he was.
Excellent! If you're considering this place go ahead and make a reservation - it will be worth it.
Love this place! Food is farm to table and outstanding. It’s on my short list of musts every time I come to NY.
Was suprzed- as I have had better meals there- but the food was indifferent. Not exactly bad- just haphazard. Not well prepared or presented. Taste was moderately OK.
Could barely get the attention of the waiter.
It has been a lunch time stand-by, but will start looking for another.
Absolutely fabulous meal! This was our second time dining at Jams, and it has become a favorite spot. The crab appetizer is a must have, and the pasta with asparagus was a stand out! I normally don’t even like pasta dishes but this blew me away. Prices are fair for Midtown, but it outweighed by the good food and ambiance. Great spot to go with friends looking to start a fun night out.
Always the best!
The service was nice and kind but not attentive or caring. We had to look for the stuff for whatever we needed. It was a birthday (i notified in the open table reservation) and not only they gave us a bar table to begin with (which we had changed for one in the dining room) but also they didn't give any special attention to the occasion (first time). Food was very tasty but both meat entrees were pretty dry. The ambience is nice but it's incredibly noisy. The bill comes pricey. I wouldn't come back for either a date or any special occasion. I mention of worth to the wine expert. Knowledgeble and professional. The wine was great, so his service.
Poke was delicious, kale salad was delicious. Mahi mahi was awful. Over cooked and rubbery. Fun ambiance but quite loud.
Delicious meal, fairly priced and a refreshing option prior to a performance at Carnegie Hall.
Our Server Sabuj was excellent, as was all of the staff, but he went above and beyond.
Would definitely return.
Our favorite restaurant in the neighborhood! Kid-friendly, roomy, DELICIOUS FOOD, the best!
Pro: Beautiful, nature-inspired, contemporary interior. Lunch was creative, delicious and generous portions offered. Con: Noise level was too loud to converse.
