The best Spanish food in the city--and so much for so little. The place is a 6 star find.
Absolutely perfect night at Jamonera once again. This is becoming our valentine's day tradition and what I wrote in the notes did not go unnoticed by the manager and the wait staff, it really made for a great touch on our date night. Of all of the restaurants I've visited in Philly, Jamonera is hands down my favorite and the only one I know I'll keep going back to year after year. The food was phenomenal; bacon wrapped dates are to die for and now we've added the eggplant fries to our 'order everytime' list. The kobe beef special was phenomenally cooked and the sangria, as always, was the perfect touch. Thank you again for a wonderful night, we'll see you next year if not sooner!
Excellent food and service , hadn't been in a while . As good or better than I remembered
We found our new favorite restaurant! Absolutely everything was perfect & enjoyable. We went in the messy snow & was not disappointed in any way. We will be back very soon to bring the rest of our family & friends!!!
Jamonera’s tapas were disappointing. We ordered four items from the menu. The only dish that tasted good was the cheese board. The other tapas were either over salted or over spiced. The service however was impeccable. Both our server and the bartender were attentive and knowledgeable. For the price and quality of the food, I would try another establishment.
The food is absolutely delicious, portion size is decent but it is a little bit pricy. However, over all the value for the quality of food you get is good and well worth it for a unique experience.
We had the tasting menu - excellent - and very good service. Had a great time and would definitely go back.
My friend and I had a fantastic meal there! I was nervous about bringing a veggie friend to a restaurant that appears to have "Ham" in Spanish in its name, but their vegetarian options were incredible! We had eggplant fries, fried goat cheese with mixed veggies, and papas fritas. Basically fried things, but it was all delicious!
The food was absolutely delicious and came out quickly. Unfortunately, our experience was diminished by a waitress who kept making rude and sarcastic comments to my family members.
Some of the best food I’ve ever had! Everything was exceptional.
Our party of five arrived late, and it took an extra half hour for everyone to arrive. Yet our server showed zero signs of impatience on a busy Saturday night. We started with oxtail croquettas ( very crunchy) and eggplant fries, tasty and crispy on the outside with an excellent sauce, which came quickly out of the kitchen while the last of our party arrived. The drinks were excellent, the Viejo and the Levantine. I also had wine that I asked my server to choose with the instructions of bold and full bodied, the Garnaxta -Cabernet blend. It was excellent. We then had a special of avocado toast with cod I liked it very much, the Spanish Breakfast Bite, moderately spicy sausage with a perfect egg -my favorite, the Vegetable Tapas board-everyone loved the squash on it, a toast with pears and cheese -also good, the Gambas with a potato apple cake that was very good, the vegetable paella-pretty good, Brussel sprouts without bacon-excellent, charred and savory even without the pork. I ordered the Lamb chops with pumpkin bread. They came with pink meat and a fantastic char, that made the fat and the bones delicious as well. The pumpkin bread went surprisingly well with the spice on the meat. We finished with the churros, light and crisp with a sugar and spice coating and a salty caramel sauce that was a bit much for the pastry, but awesome on its own. All the food was great! The service was excellent. The only negative comment was that most things seemed accompanied by bread. And that some of the flavors might be better set off by something else. Personally I love bed the bread.
Food and service was very good. However, I am disappointed in being asked to leave for another reservation to be seated.
This was less than two hours for a group of six.
Our waitress helped recommend the wines for the evening which paired beautifully with our delicious food. She even went above and beyond and brought out a dessert for the upcoming birthday she noticed on the driver’s license. Would highly recommend for anyone wanting great food, service, and hospitality!
Delicious! We also had many moments of OMG, this is so delicious, specifically the vegetable plate, and the shrimp dish. It is one of our favorites.
Great food and great service
Small intimate restaurant with an awesome copper clad bar! The scallops were amazing and perfectly prepared. The portions are not to small, but not too large, allowing you the ability to try a variety of plates that are best shared! The staff was extremely friendly and knowledgable about the menu and wines. Looking forward to visiting again!
Great tapas, with thoughtful and creative combinations but nothing overwhelmingly odd. The brussel sprouts dish is astonishing in its simplicity but kaleidoscope of flavors. The steak and short rib entrees were tender, flavorful, and well-portioned. We're coming back!
Third visit. Great each time. Took friends who loved it also. Very creative options, great service. Will return more often. Everything these owners touch turns out great.
The food at Jamonera was magnificient. One of the best meals I have had in months. All so fresh, unique, and i want to keep coming back
My best friend and I attended Jamonera for Restaurant Week. The portions were very small and the food was subpar at best. Presentation was lovely but overall I wasn’t impressed to go back. I had the skirt steak. Although it was flavorful, 70% of it was rare. My best friend had the shrimp and it taste great but it was definitely the size of an appetizer. We left the restaurant hungry and had to hit up Wendy’s Drive-thru 🤷🏾♂️
Went for Restaurant Week with 5:00 res on last Friday of 2nd week RW. First in Rest.
Chose from the RW menu of 4 courses. Food was Very Good. Wife is non-meat and there were enough choice to satisfy that. Sliced Strip Steak was tasty but a bit chewy and only warm at start so quite cool by end. Orange sorbet was good. Rice pudding dessert was ... better than flan. Offered a $25 Wine / Sherry special of 3 wines or 3 sherry. I was able to mix/match to get an Amontillado with first courses; a Syrah Red with the steak and an Olloroso Sherry with dessert.
This worked out well.
We will return, possibly to try Happy Hour
This was our 4th Restaurant week exploration of Philly's culinary offerngs and Jamonera was clearly top of the class and we will be back.
Tasty small plates are perfect for sharing. Dark and ambient inside. Delicious drinks.
Both the bar and the kitchen produce exceptional dining experiences. I met a friend for drinks. He was planning to dine elsewhere later, so I only ordered enough food for me. However, when he saw how good it was we ended up sharing everything! Fortunately the food was both satisfying and filling. Jamonera never disappoints.
Great "restaurant week" experience. They even provided a wine/sherry pairing for each course that was a great value. Highly recommended restaurant.
The pumpkin croquetas and hanger steak were amazing. Cocktails were an A+ as well. Will definitely be going back to try more options on their menu.
a cute place. food was amazing for restaurant week 2018. i been to is other sister restaurants and this place is #2 fit me. well definitely come back. their steak n these butternut squash croquettes are amazing
What a fun meal. We were in philadelphia overnight and Wanted to eat something different.
We love Spain and Spanish food. They did it proud.
We will be back on our next trip.
Lovely, cozy and intimate decor. Perfect for date night. Amazing kitchen.
I’m an extremely picky eater & a huge foodie. Rarely when I like everything that a place had to offer another discovered Jem just like Barbuzzo.
Dorade fish was great n so were the potatoes, avocado and beets salads. Very, nutritious and tasty fares.
I had not visited Jamonera since I retired from my my job in the city 3 years ago, and it is still a foodie's delight! The Restaurant Week menu was awesome - not only offering lots of delicious food, but the wide array of multiple flavors which so pleasantly assault the palette and seem to burst in one's mouth need to be experienced! And, the fact that it was indeed Restaurant Week made for incredible value! Our waitress was a joy - very attentive, full of lots of good advice, and got us out on time to walk to the Kimmel for our Philadelphia Orchestra concert. The only thing we thought might make it more perfect would have been perhaps a wee bit of flamenco, or other Spanish guitar music interspersed with the usual 21st century background music.
