Delicious plates to share at your own pace so unplug with nice glass of Cava, no rush. Staff were all really nice and our server made some great recommendations. Date or dinner out with another couple would both be great here.

This was our first visit to Jamonera. We had been to the sister restaurant Barbuzzo the previous night. Jamonera is a fairly small place. We had the catalan greens and the anchoas to start. The greens were good. I liked the anchoas because I like anchovies. We also had the paella mixta and the short ribs. The short ribs were excellent. The paella was ok; the seafood and meats were good, the rice was a bit mushy for my likes. Overall, we enjoyed our meal.

Food and service was excellent. Atmosphere and ambiance superb. Second year we’ve done our birthday dinners there and will definitely continue to do so. The fresh strawberry sorbet as a complimentary birthday desert was thoughtful and delicious!

We went here on the recommendations of friends and also for the Jamone. Ham was authentic. Food was tasty. Waiter was pleasant and knowledgeable. Pleasant decor. Hostess very indifferent. Would recommend to others who like tapas.

So for my birthday my boyfriend looked up many restaurants and decided on this one due to the great reviews for Spanish cuisine. The tapas style was great but The food was disappointing. We got the oxtail croquettes, anchiove crostini, skirt steak with yams and mixto paella (oh and the churro-which had to be sent back) the oxtail croquettes were alright. They were creamy with oxtail in a breaded ball. The anchiove crostini was disgusting. The raw anchiove was too much fishiness for me. My boyfriend liked it. They served 3 and looked very pretty but the taste is making my face turn as I think about it. The skirt steak was the best dish. It had a wonderful flavor and the yams were white and purple very different and tasty. The paella which was the most expensive thing was not good. It was mushy rice with tomatoe sauce and fishy shrimp and gritty mussels. The chicken in top was not seasoned and just thrown on top as an after thought. I 've been to many places and this paella was the absolute worst. The sangria is good. But I have to say the churro at the end was burnt and the Caramel sauce seemed as though salt and cinnamon was added to sugar water. Yeah, not good. In fact we sent that back. The waitress was fine nothing good.

Jamonera is a good bet anytime. The food is tasty. The ingredients are fresh, well cooked and flavorful. The service is great. Our server was knowledgeable but not intrusive. We ordered two small plates to share plus the seafood paella. A better paella would be hard to find. We topped the meal off with cappuccino.
I will be back.

Jamonera is a fine Spanish restaurant where the waiters don’t try to push you into ordering more than you need or order “specials”, you are left to make your own decisions quietly and left with space, though of course the waiters there are helpful with any requests you may have such as splitting a glass of wine into two so that my husband and I could savor half glass wine as we’re not heavy drinkers.

The food was truly fresh, delicious and colorful. And the Tempranillo wine we had paired very well with the food. The restaurant has a dimly lit ambiance and a nice buzz and the other patrons who go there seem like regulars.

I find it is an underrated restaurant. It is clean, not too noisy, comfortable and I didn’t have to deal with unpleasant drafts from air conditioning ceiling vents like many other Philly restaurants seem to suffer from.

It is how an understated and elegant dining experience should be with “inconspicuous” but attentive waiters and just really good Spanish food. Try the vegetables appetizer on a board and the meatballs.

Next time I travel back to Philly I am definitely going there again. The prices are very reasonable too.

This was our fourth time at Jamonera, and it never disappoints! We took another couple there and they loved it as well. We got some excellent wines by the glass, the Brussels sprouts, the albondigas (meatballs), the grilled octopus, the chicken special, etc. Fabulous churros for dessert, and cappuccinos. All of the good was superb and the service was great.

I took a young lady here on our first date and we had a wonderful time. The seafood paella and blanca sangria were out of this world! The atmosphere was conducive to quiet conversation and the service was right on point. I will definitely be coming back here.

Not my favorite of the Safron/ Turney restaurant collection - the brussel sprouts were okay, while the lamb chop was tasty but not very "meaty". The venue makes up for the mediocre food.

The ambiance was lovely. The staff were decently friendly. We went for restaurant week for the 3 course meal. My bf got the pork chops or something of that sort and I got the cauliflower dish. His pork portion was kind of small but he said it was good. My cauliflower-whatever-it-was was really bad. I'm a vegetarian-have always been and I'm not particularly picky. The cauliflower was really hart to cut and had almost NO taste. There were an assortment of random mushrooms and peppers and some sauce coating the bottom of the plate. There wasn't even salt. The first starter dishes were really good. There was a toast with eggplant sauce which was excellent. There was a cheese with almonds which were okay. The best part of the meal was probably the dessert. I got the chocolate cake and my bf got the sorbet and we both enjoyed it very much.

A last minute choice as both my wife and I were working in town. First thing my wife said when I suggested this restaurant is that she doesn't like Spanish food. Boy did she change her mind!!! Everything was delicious. Very nice atmosphere. Great location. Nice menu. I wouldn't change a thing.

Jamonera is a small, dark restaurant with enough space to not taste your neighbors food. The food it pretty authentic Spanish. The Mixto Paella [which was very tasty] was a tad pricey for a plate of rice with 2 pieces of shrimp, a chicken leg, 5 mussels, a few squid rings and tomato sauce...even so, the rice was expertly cooked with charring on the bottom and "creamy" on the top. I would have had the Restaurant Week menu but the person I was dining with didn't want that...can't quite figure out who lost out on that??? Me or Jamonera......

We gone to Barbuzzo many times and it has been exceptional every time! So for restaurant week we assumed Jamonera would be more of the same--not the case.

My husband had the park loin which was tough and my brannizo was under cooked down the center. Surprised and disappointed not sure we will go back to this spot.

However, we had lunch at Barbuzzo...and as always the food and service was outstanding.

Great food, as always. It's an especially good value for Restaurant Week because they bring small appetizers of eggplant dip, crispy potatoes and cheese with almonds before the regular three courses. I chose the beet and plum salad with arugula and julliene of Granny Smith apple--a savory blend of flavors, followed by beautifully cooked branzino. The fish was served on a well-balanced melange of vegetables and rice--not too much rice. The peach and plum crumble for dessert was deliciously tart-sweet. They also offered interesting wine pairings for each course, but I had my favorite gingery Alhambra cocktail. (The specialty cocktail list has several intriguing choices, so when I return I may try another one.)

I am usually not a fan of restaurant week. I really would prefer to order what I would like and not what the three or for items the chef has created for restaurant week. I was pleasantly surprised with Jamonera's restaurant week menu and even better, they also offered their regular menu.

This was the first night of restaurant week 2017 and also the first time we have visited Jamonera. I had heard a lot about Jamonera and we were excited to try it. We arrived 30 minutes early for our reservation and were given a choice of waiting about 15 minutes or sitting outside. It was a beautiful evening so that was an easy choice. My party of three was hungry anyway so the sooner some food arrived all the better.

Two of us chose the restaurant week menu including myself. I thought this was a very good value at $35.00 per head. The first 3-shared dishes were all excellent, the charred eggplant puree had this grilled garlic bread that was outstanding. I had the Gambas al Ajillo for my main course or second course. The shrimp were sweet and juicy and full of garlic. I never had a whipped salt cod but that was very good with the shrimp, chili and pimento. My daughter had the Bronzino and my wife ordered the lamb chops off the main menu. We shared all or dishes and everything was packed with flavors fantastic. All of our plates were wiped cleaned.

For the dessert course of the menu we had the flourless chocolate cake and the brown butter bread pudding. Both of these desserts were pretty darn incredible and not too sweet or heavy.

We had a truly great meal at Jamonera and we are looking forward to going back soon.

My review would have been worse but was saved by our waiter ! I read many positive reviews about the eggplant fries so we ordered them. They were drenched with cumin which is the only spice I avoid. I couldn't eat them. . I asked if the cumin was mentioned as an ingredient on the menu and the waiter said he didn't think so. (I just looked and it isn't) . He took the plate away and without even mentioning it to us, removed the dish from our bill. I don't recall his name but he turned our restaurant experience into a very positive one. THANK YOU !

Have eaten here on multiple occasions and the food has never disappointed. They serve authentic tapas and particular favorites are the Mushroom Coca, Papa Frita and the Hazelnut rosemary and blue cheese dessert that they are currently serving. I always sit at the bar and find Doug to be a very attentive server who now knows us by name.
