Excellent food with many vegetarian options. Sitting outside was pleasant until a very persistent ‘street’ citizen showed up. Eventually convinced to leave by the manager
Great time. Wonderful server
We always celebrate birthdays and anniversaries here. Food is excellent and staff is always friendly. They made our first wedding anniversary very special last night with their service and food! Thank you!!!
The service was friendly and customer oriented. I found the food to be too salty. The portions smaller than I expected. While I had an enjoyable time I don’t expect to return.
Small and quaint... Food is delicious and well seasoned... I recommend making a reservation to assure you will have a table waiting. Tables are very close to one another, so if you do not like other people in your personal space then you may feel uncomfortable dining at Jamonera’s.
My friend and I went to Jamonera during restaurant week. The food was absolutely amazing. The service was great. The cocktails were delicious. All in all a great experience. I highly recommend.
Energetic environment with employees that assist in generating the atmosphere. Food and drinks were excellent. Do not overlook this downtown Philly gem.
Nice little spot...great food, mushroom toast was a stand out! We ordered the charcuterie plate, with chorizo, serrano ham...the grilled pulpo was outstanding and the lamb skewers were marinated well and charred perfectly. Overall the food was very good. Space is a bit tight and tables are very close...but the food made up for that! Overall, if Spanish cuisine is what you want, you won't be disappointed! Oh, don't miss the cocktails!
Was here before and had a great experience and great food. Went this year for restaurant week with some friends and was not impressed at all. Everyone ordered something different from the menu and it was still nothing to write home about. The best thing on the menu was probably the plates to share for the table. Wild mushroom tosta was bland, brussel sprouts salad was ok, croquettes were greasy, crispy cauliflower rice was greasy and under-seasoned, shrimp tasted like dish water and pork loin was ok. Dessert was average. Not sure we if we were being rushed out but the only reservation available for our party size was 9:45 and was told by host to come later than that since there was still a group sitting there. Would not come back.
The food and drinks were delicious. Tables were tight but it was a good date night spot.
Came with high expectations, but was a bit disappointed. The prices are steep. The sangria was significantly watered down and did not have much flavor. A few tapas were good, but overall most dishes were below average...either too salty...or not flavorful enough.
The deserts and drinks were very good. Quick and efficient service. Clean bathroom. Food was good but a bit salty to our taste. Overall a good experience
Dined on the first night of 2019 Sept restaurant week. Here are my highlights:
- sat for a long time before my waiter came by, long enough where I have reviewed the full menu and figured out what the party wants,
- for a small floor plan, my waiter made no plans to come over until the maitre’d noticed my table has not been greeted,
- waiter left out a salad order from the à la carte menu for a 2-persons restaurant-week fixed menu,
- the busboy and other staff have more passion, care and smiles than my waiter,
- 1st course: bacon wrapped dates and croquetas are delicious
- 2nd course: the pork loin is mediocre, garlic shrimp is tasty
- 3rd course: dark chocolate de creme is mediocre, bread-pudding is yummy
- waiter explained the extra item showed up on the bill was an oversight and consistently pops up for some reason.
There are good things and bad things. I will let readers decide if my experience is helpful to make the decision.
Overall good can’t complain bar took a couple minutes to get our drinks
We had a dish with undercooked chicken that was immediately rectified and a new fulled and newly prepared meal brought to us. The staff was very attentive, apologetic, and the food was incredible. Jamonera still remains one of the best restaurants in Philadelphia in my book. It’s not the bad things happening that should be measured but it’s what it done about them and in my book the staff and chefs did everything in their power to maintain that high level reputation. That goes along way with me and my girlfriend and I enjoyed ourselves fully. The manager even took the dish off the check. We’ll be back again for sure!
Host was very accommodating to move reservation later at short notice, thank you!
Initial service was attentive but later sat with empty drinks waiting for waitress to check back. Food service was well timed and shrimp. Patatas, ribs, heirloom tomato salad were delicious and hit the spot. The seafood paella which at $28 was small for that price, only 3 shrimp, a few mussels and clams and we only found a few small pieces of calamari, the overall flavor was salty and rice was also inconsistent with some parts perfectly cooked and others very crunchy, a disappointing end to our meal.
Yum!! Tried this on a whim and husband and I were impressed! Sunday nights they offer a tapas tasting menu. All 10 items included in this special were delicious. We tried picking a favorite out of the 10 tapas and we couldn’t! Our server was wonderful. Cute, quiet place in a Sunday night. We will return.
Good happy hour and amazing paella. Super good service!
Great food, waiter was very knowledgeable about the wine sherry list. Food is always excellent
Very disappointing in their handling of food allergies; did not provide correct information upon ordering, when realized an item was not as described, they refused substitution, and then provided food with the allergen after saying it was safe.
Thoroughly enjoyed Jamonera. We had the paella mixta which was cooked properly (rice crusty on the bottom) and had an ample amount of seafood and chicken in it. Having tried paella at a number of restaurants in and around Philly over the past few years (e.g. Olorosa in Philly and Vida y Comida in Ambler) this was by far the best and also was significantly less expensive than these other places. Nice to get excellent food at a good and fair price point for a change. I highly recommend this restaurant and certainly will return.
Every time I eat here I have a great meal. The interior is a bit dark for my taste, but the service is great and the fare delicious. Plus I was told that I resemble Jeb Bush-so I found that amusing...
Was told that the paella was huge, enough to feed two with left overs. My fiance and i told the waitress we were hungry and she assured us it would be a big dish to share for the $38 per person prefix menu. We laughed when she brought it to the table. Small enough for me alone to eat and still be hungry. She over sold the hell out of it!
First visit there and loved it. Will definitely return.
Paella dinner! Delicious!
mybwife and I enjoyed paella and sangria night very much. Paella mixta had lots of flavor and the sangria was very good.
Delicious food and cocktails!
I used to love Jamonera. Unfortunately, my husband and I weren’t satisfied this time. The food wasn’t nearly as good as I remembered. On the plus side, the waitstaff is very friendly and hardworking and the ambiance is fun.
A truly wonderful tapas restaurant. We’ve consumed tapas all over the world and this place ranks right up there. I prefer a darker paella, but their version is just wonderful. Portion sizes encourage you to order plenty but plan on spending more than $50 a head. Sangria was delicious. Menu had plenty of choices and all eight of our dishes were outstanding. Great place.
Jamonera is a bit fore 'foodie' than I normally like, but I went with some foodie friends, and tried some things that I never would have otherwise. Everything I had was great. No regrets. Our server was fantastic and had incredible knowledge of the Sherry. And the churros for me, were the most memorable dish of the night.
My wife and I had a very enjoyable dining experience. The food and service were excellent. The staff was very accommodating with our few requests. We would definitely go back again.
Very happy that they have added more vegetarian options! Some of the food was a bit salty & sour.
Great as always, nice hidden gem
Overall great! But the host was rude to me and my guest when we entered.
I gave the restaurant average ratings for noise level and ambiance because we sat outside so we couldn’t really gauge what their dining room setting was like.
The service was prompt and our waitress was friendly.
The food however was disappointing. I just came back from Barcelona so I had a good comparison of authentic cured ham. The jamon mangalica has good flavor but was sliced too thick. The veggie board and Gambia’s dishes were way too sour. The paella was decent, though it was also slightly tart.
For the price we paid, I felt the food was not worth it.
The eggplant fries were so disappointing. The staff, well I don’t know if everyone was having a bad day but there were noone was smiling.
I’ve been here before and didn’t get the same vibe as this time. Not sure what happened. All other food was great but like I said, my table of 4 all agreed the eggplant was a miss. All in all, was surrounded by good company and great cocktails so it was not a bad night.
We were squeezed into a corner when there were many open tables because we were 5. It was way too tight
The food was cold and not really all that good and the service was sooo slow. Did not enjoy it, won’t return
It’s always a great meal here. Service, wine selection, menu all terrific.
Excellent food, with wonderful combinations of flavors.
