Jamie's Italian - Yorkdale
Whether you’re grabbing a bite to eat in the cozy bar to refuel after shopping, meeting for a business lunch or a family meal before a movie, Jamie’s Italian is the perfect spot.
Service was slow, food was fine but nothing special. Expected more. Won’t return.
This was a second time for me, and a first time for my guests to eat at Jamie's Italian, Yorkdale. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and were very pleased with our server. She understood that we wanted time between our appetizers and our meal and the timing couldn't have been more perfect. It certainly impressed our friends and it impressed me too. We will definitely return.
We chose Jamie's Italian because we needed to eat close to home. I have been a few other times and always had a god meal. I had never been there on a Saturday night. We had a 6:30 reservation, and our friends arrived before we did. Apparently, the hostess told them that there was a 2 hour limit on the table and we had to be done by 8 pm (which, according to my math was only 1.5 hours!). We were late due to the traffic getting into the mall, and arrived shortly after 6:30. Our waitress was helpful and efficient, but you could tell the restaurant was understaffed that night. I have celiac disease. There are many options for me and I chose a salad and a pasta. The husbands both ordered the steaks. One of the men does not mix meat with milk. When my salad arrived, I asked if it was the gluten free one and was told yes. On the first bite, I noticed a rogue crouton! Luckily, I didnt eat it and the waitress swapped it for another one. However, her response was that it must have fallen off of my friends salad into mine! Hmm. When the mains arrived, the steaks had parmesan cheese sprinkled on them! My friend asked to see a menu to see if he had missed the 'cheese' part of the description. The waitress told him that they always put cheese on and that they must have left it off the new menus but that she would get him a new one without cheese! Luckily, the manager took that off our bill as he had to watch us eat while waiting to eat! For mall food, its ok. I would never go there on a Saturday night again!
I am Italian so unfortunately the Bolognese just didn’t do it for me. The rosemary focaccia bread was delicious but that’s all I enjoyed. I prefer my noodles al dente for sure but they were a little too al dente.
Waitress didn’t seem that interested and it was 5:00 pm so not terribly busy.. sorry but with the other choices at Yorkdale I don’t think I’ll be back. $210 for 4 adults and 2 kiddies seemed pricey... love Jamie Oliver though
Great food. Great service .
It was really cold because we were near the door and they wouldn’t move us. Then the server never checked up on us
Flank steak arrived cold. I’m not one to complain but the server was kind enough to ask. I told her it was cold and dry. She insisted on getting the kitchen to make a new one. After one bite I said ok. So 15 mins later the server brings it back and it’s the same dish since I cut a piece of it out. So basically they microwaved it. What a disappointment. Not going back.
The waiter was very accommodating to our dietary needs and wants we very knowledgeable. Will definitely visit again!
The food was amazing and the staff was very professional. Great place for lunch
Pizza was soggy and had to be re made.
Appetizer was too salty!
Slow service, but friendly
Way to over priced for the quantity. Quality was ok, but food was cold when it arrived, though the server said the plat was hot. Clearly used a warmer to warm plate only. Sorry but I wont be back. Would recommend any other restaurant in Yorkdale
Great food and fantastic service. Steak special was outstanding and good value. All in all a great experience. This place gets busy so better make a reservation.
Had a lovely dinner for my husband’s birthday. Their big green olives were delicious and their Ravioli dish was tasty. The waitress was friendly and brought out my husband’s dessert with a candle and a paddle board that said happy birthday. I would definitely return!
Great food as always. The service with our waitress at the beginning was a little slow even though it was not busy. Later she got better.
Reliable food, good service in a casual environment
Enjoyed the evening, especially the brownie dessert. Missed some freshly grated parmesan on my pasta, but the dish was very well-seasoned and tasty overall.
Extremely disappointing. Both the quality of the food and service were terrible. I would not recommend going. Our pizza came cold and tasteless. It took more than 20 minutes for our waiter to come back to find out that we were unhappy with it.
Love the food but the server was extremely pushy- refused to let me order a smaller pasta even though I insisted. First time this happens at this resto
We tried this restaurant before on a cruise ship and we were impressed, but when we find this one in Yorkdale shopping center was rate 3.6 on Google, so we did not try. Last night, we decided and gave it a try and found the found was as good as we tried before. The service was excellent. The only minor complain is there is no entrance from the shopping center, it will be cold in the winter time.
Excellent for sharing with a group or for individual mains.
The restaurant was empty
Very good, appropriate pricing and good food. The service was good and the server was very knowledgeable about the menu.
Server was unattentive...
Food was bad. We ordered pizza, came out only slightly warm. Spaghetti fongole, Pasta came out in clumps... sent the food back. 2nd one pasta came out ok... but the food was just poor quality. Ordered also a “famous prawn pasta”. shrimp was like frozen tiny, and packaged...
Fantastic food for a decent price!
Very nice place. Food was outstandingly good. Ordered the Super lunch for only 24$ for two courses . Big servings, great value. Service was a little slow but didn’t bug me.
I was looking forward to the grilled squid. However when it arrived it was way overcooked and much of it was burned. They did give me a free dessert which was nice!
This was my 2nd time visiting the restaurant in the past year. The service needs more improvement. Their was no cutlery or napkins at our table. No sugar or milk for our coffees. And my girlfriend had to ask for the ketchup after her food had already arrived. The desserts were lacking flavor and quality.
Here are my observations as following;
1. Unavailable Dishes in the menu were not cross out and even the server is unaware.
2. 60% of the servers were busy Chit chatting at around 1:16pm on 17th Sept 2019. Non of the server came to us to place our orders and instead busy chit chatting. I have to approach the server for the bill at their counter since most of them are no where to be seen. Some of them ignore us even though we waved.
3. The overall taste of the food particularly the simple Spaghetti Bolognese is way below standard. Totally out of Jamie Oliver expected standard. Furthermore I bought some clients from oversea and its totally embarrassing.
4. I won’t recommend or step into this restaurant anymore
Wonderful restaurant! Amazing and delicious food. Modern decor beautiful. A great place for families. Will definitely look forward to going back!
Nice ambiance , good price.
Menu simple and straight forward.. will go again
Great food, service and money value. I also liked the flexibility of the waitress to make the dish as I wanted.
Setup like a Trattoria, not quite fine dining. Food was good and service was good, nothing outstanding but above average.
Generally good though adult and child main pasta dishes the sauce was watery. Kids burger over done. Appetisers we good as well as deserts. Service was great
Our starter focaccia served without plates. Requested pepperoncino & parmeasan twice before it was brought to our table. Food was good but service was mediocre.
Main issue was with my vongole, It was so over salted that I sent it back. Another plate showed up quickly with little improvement. In addition to the salt the amount of clams was very small and pasta was very undercooked. All else was good especially pizza. Noisy atmosphere though.
Everyone in our group gobbled up their food except for the steak connoisseur who did not enjoy his steak dish. The server asked if he wanted to order something else but he said that he was OK for the moment. His wife instead asked to take it home to be enjoyed another day. Complements for all the other dishes from the group. My husband and I have been to Jamie's in the past, but was a first for the others and were happy with the restaurant choice.
We'll be back again.
We come here everytime we travel to Toronto as it is convenient but the food quality is not as good as it used to be. They need to step it up again. I ordered the superfood salad this time and no cottage cheese in it. Salads are usually pretty good but a bit on the pricey side. Last time I ordered the mushroom pizza and it was stretched so thin it was soggy and gross. This used to be a great place to eat, relax and unwind, but seems like the manager is not managing the quality of the food
Food was great!!!
The service was slow and my burger meat was burnt. They kept my wife waiting for a glass of wine for 15 minutes and when we asked for the bill, it came 10 minutes later.
