Best restaurant in Rhode Island.
Portions were small but flavorful. Risotto was not the best ...undercooked and not creamy as expected. Dessert was delicious. Server never offered coffee with dessert. Small touches were missing for an upscale restaurant.
Wonderful meal. Great ambience. Excellent staff and service. Only recommendation is to let the chocolate cake dessert come to room temperature before serving. For us it tasted great but the consistency was a little stiff, which probably resulted from it being chilled.
Always a fine dining experience at Jamestown Fish. I had the lobster risotto which was excellent, although I felt that berries that decorated the risotto didn’ t go with the flavors of the dish.
Jamestown Fish is consistently excellent. Never disappoints.
Wonderful waitress and amazing food.
The quality of the food was top notch. Service excellent. Wife loved everything. Just don't order steak at a restaurant named Fish. I had salmon for lunch and did not want to overdue it for the day and selected the steak special that was too tough to chew. But the sauce was very tasty and the potatoes that came with it were very good. Deserts were great. All in all, we will return on the next special occasion. Too pricey for a senior's budget.
Our meal was okay, small portions and expensive, nothing goes with it, no potato or vegetable. The house wine was good but $19. A glass!!!!! Will never go back, good thing the company was good or it would have been worse.
We went for New Year's Eve and they did not disappoint. We all had something different, and each pleased. The waiter was excellent, and knowledgeable. It made for a delightful night and welcome to the new year.
Service was very good. Food was good not great.....and very expensive
Fantastic 7fishes for Christmas Eve
Our first visit to a winter monthly "wine vintage" dinner was memorable. It is an elegant menu but an informal, compatible, and even collaborative event. Diners have access to vintage wines at a reduced price per glass, and guests are encouraged to bring similar (but less expensive) wines to share among the tables. Diners may choose from the regular menu, but also from a small and modestly priced prix fixe menu: in our case, local oysters with yuzu and American caviar, and an excellent lobster risotto. A memorable experience - not to be missed.
My wife and I went to Fish to enjoy their 6th year in business special menu of seafood and champagne. The Walrus and Carpenter oysters are very special. The lobster risotto was delicious and the swordfish was great. The champagnes were terrific.
Vintage Thursday is a great idea! Food and wine paired perfectly & delicious
Outstanding in every way. Atmosphere, service, food. Just great!
Food was great as always, but too noisy, hard to hear each other. Fish would benefit from some sound absorbent materials.
Delicious. There are a lot of restaurants in Rhode Island so for me to say this was the best meal I have had out on a while is a big deal. Kudos to the chef.
Cute space and lively atmosphere. However, the service was lacking for a restaurant of that quality - slow to clear plates between courses and the like. Restaurant week menu was hit or miss - eggplant caponata was subpar, but some other things are ok.
This is restaurant week in Newport, and therefore most of the establishments produce a limited menu (usually three appetizers, three entrees, three desserts.) In this milieu, Jamestown Fish more than stands out: a diverse list of eight appetizers and nine entrees. Chef Matthew Maccartney and his staff demonstrate a noted commitment to both the principles of fine dining and the concept of "restaurant week." Our dinners were superb: smoked salmon and then grilled salmon, and salt cod pate and then black pasta with clams. The notable wine list is broad, deep, and well-priced. But a continual caveat (we have now been here five times:) it is VERY noisy. My wife and I have a deep affection for this place, but we must lean over the two top to converse.
Creative menu, expertly executed. Wait staff professional and friendly. Very attractive interior, but noise level made conversation difficult, nothing to absorb the din.
Our first visit to Fish -- Ambiance was lovely -- elegant, but not stuffy. Service was excellent, as was the food. Menu (Restaurant Week) made it hard to choose! Much better variety than many Restaurant Week menus. All in our group enjoyed everything they ordered and the already positive experience was topped off by the chef's visit to our table. We will be recommending
Jamestown Fish to our friends and will be back.
The meal was delicious. The only issue was the salt - I am on a low salt diet and did not realize there would be as much salt in the meal. Otherwise, the meal was excellent and the entire dining experience was superb.
This was Newport Restaurant Week which I always take advantage of each time. In fact, I am going back tonight. I usually go during the warm months so can sit outside, have starters, oven pizza made on premises & a nice bottle of wine.
Amazing restaurant- everything we had was delicious!
Second time there--while the food was good we thought it was better the first time. We liked it enough to dine again to give it another chance. Our waiter was outstanding.
Good food with an over emphasis on presentation. Portions are on the small side. Noise level is off the charts loud and tables are incredibly close.
Our meals were amazing. My husband had the venison, I had swordfish, both were excellent. The venison blew us away, and was presented beautifully. We also loved the duck meatballs we tried for an appetizer. The swordfish was cooked to perfection. The night we were there, there was an Austrian wine distributor there and we were able to try a number of wines in 3-oz. portions, we really enjoyed that. I've read reviews that say the portion sizes are small and the restaurant is too expensive, but we thought it was a good value. It's fine dining, and if people are expecting something different they might be disappointed.
This is a great restaurant. The chef is a real artist. The food was delicious and the presentation was great. We will definitely come back and recommend highly to friends.
Great fresh local food. The wait staff was very friendly and the chef came to each table to check in!
Awsome the chef is amazing best vegetarian i have ever had.
Always a pleasure to enjoy fresh fish dishes at Jamestown Fish. A lovely spot and a great chef!
Wow ! The food was simply delicious. I find that few restaurant's these days have the knowledge on how to properly serve a guest at any price point but this restaurant certainly does.
We were flattered by all the chef when he visited our table and my guests beamed from the all the attention.
This is a special place and I'll be back for my next special occasion :)
Perfect in every way. And the chef is a true artist and every attention to detail regarding service and atmosphere is considered. Gordon Ramsay should come so he could learn a thing or two.
Went during Hurricane Jose. They were open. Very nice dinner in attractive surroundings. Massive and very expensive wine list. Need to study to find value.
Fabulous meal. Every bite was outstanding. Stellar service. I give it my highest rating.
Fine dining in beautiful, quiet, seaside village. Extensive wine list.
Everything's was excellent as it always is. From the service to the cusine to the outstanding wine list and homemade ice cream.
Good food, service, ambiance etc. My only caveat relates to the outside patio area - I've eaten there previously and preferred it in some ways - draft beer, more happening environment.
Phenomenal dinner service spectacular hurricane relief celebration
We love Fish! Great restaurant and great service!
