Last day of the season so they were out of many things on the menu. Was disappointed when some items were not on my plate and the server didn’t tell me about it in advance.
well the selection was very small. waitress was very nice. atmosphere was nice. the app's were
fair. the rice pilaf not good either my wife's southern veggies not good the Spanish fish we had was
the worse fish we ever had. besides how many bone's in it. we were very disappointed in all we
stop on way home to pick up a sandwich I heard so many good things about it but I wish I could
say the same.
Six of us had an 8p reservation on Saturday of restaurant week. We very much enjoyed the company of our friends and the ambience, but that was the end of the good. Our appetizers were fair; the wings, ceasar, calamari, and crudo. Fair. The local oysters treated with granita and roe were overpowered and barely recognizable as oysters to the taste. The mains, terrible. Monktail preparation was odd and flavorless, sablefish was atrociously a hard-crusted shell hiding a whole fish worth of bones and 3 bites of fish, scallops -flavorless and went unfinished, and tenderloin sliced thin like roast beef overpowered by peppercorn sauce. Desserts, generally unremarkable. We enjoyed the blueberry ice cream and banana cream something or another. We did not complain while there, but we should have. Two of six in our party had previous good experience at Fish. We’re not sure what happened this night.

Winter special entree and appetizer for $35 - can't beat it.
I can only speak to their Thursday night/wine tasting. I had been looking for an excuse to try this restaurant, and, after I got on their mailing list,it came in the form of this event. The menu was small and the special was a reasonably priced appetizer/entree combination. The other attraction was a tasting of some Italian wines need from a select vineyard. The food was superb, and their own wine selection is excellent. Try the Barbaresco, and the coconut carrot bisque, if offered. The bisque could be a meal in itself, so pace yourself. I barely finished my braised lamb.
We chose to come back to Fish based on previous experiences when the food was very good. This time we were disappointed. The fall menu maybe attractive price wise ($35 for one appetizer and main course). I must say the coconut and carrot bisque we had for appetizer was very good and interesting but for the main course you choose a “protein” (as we were told) and then you pick a sauce and a side to go with it. When I go out to dinner in a good restaurant I expect the chef to come up with his own creations based on ingredients that he carefully chooses and mixes to create a unique dish. The chef at Fish is very capable and should do away with “assemble your own dinner” kind of menu. I would rather pay more for an exceptional dinner. I chose the collard greens for side dish and they were unpleasant, served whole with some onions and vinegar. Service was attentive although twice the waiters tried to pour tap water over sparkling. The whole experience made us question if we would go back.
Service was very inattentive. They might have been short staffed. I kept seeing the chef walking around, not helping staff much. I not sure if he was owner or not.

We had out of town guests and we chose FISH as it has always been wonderful.

it was well done. Food was tasty and a good value. Wine was perfect and reasonable. We will continue to support the restaurant. A gem in Jamestown, RI.
The setting is lovely and the staff is refreshingly well trained and responsive. The food was exceptional and the little extras you receive with the meal is special touch.
First foray into Jamestown. Waitress needed to check back with kitchen several times to respond to fairly basic questions about ingredients, but she handled a complaint about an overdone hamburger with grace. Halibut special and tenderloin dishes were excellent. "Crepe cake" dessert was a delicious surprise.
We love the Vintage Thursdays events that pick a wine theme and offer a pairing menu at a reduced cost. Every week is a new adventure.
Very disappointing meal for my birthday! I have been eating the linguine and clams dish since the restaurant opened. It was swimming in olive oil and lacking any clam flavor. There was a time I would drive 1.5 hours for this meal, unfortunately that will not be the case anymore.
We really enjoyed our evening. Great wait staff and fun outdoor dining!
Well, FISH I have had good meals before, this meal was really awfull...the waitress new nothing about the wine offerings, the menu seemed very narrow. We had the lobster risotto which was over cooked and just difficult to eat...perhaps we got the pinch hitting chef

Nothing like it use to be! What happened? Service was awful, food was mediocre at best... my linguine and clams tasted like low tide. It was awful. I’m so bummed, it was one of our favorite places!
I had the Monkfish and the dish was underwhelming. It was very rubbery which exhibited that it had been overcooked. Cooking fresh fish requires skill and attention to cooking temperature which for whatever reason eluded the Jamestown Fish chef on my entree.
I ordered arugula salad, which was served all wilted, it looked like it was preppered with dressing and sitting in the fridge for 2 days. My husband ordered squid salad, again, old and prepared very poor. I tried squid, you could not chew it, hard and dry. Very disappointing. Waiter picked up our plates, not asked ones how the food was, or apologized when he saw food on the plate as he picked it up.
We were scared to try another local restaurant, so we ended up going to Newport every night to have great dinner and amazing service.
We ate indoors. Food was absolutely amazing. We had the tasting meal and the chef picked really special meals. Plus he gave extra little courses. The wine pairing was stellar! Loved the unusual picks of sake sherry and a dessert wine. Of course usual white and red also. The staff were very attentive. Overall just fantastic! We highly recommend. Try the lobster salad, watermelon soup, oysters and scallops ceviche.
While the menu is somewhat limited, the food is well prepared and always delicious. I highly recommend the tempura whole fish of the day
Overpriced and pretentious , no bread and when we asked for bread after our food had come, waitress said ok - 15 minutes later we asked again and she said it would be 10 minutes because bread was baking — we said in 10 minutes the food would be gone - bread came and it was not hot, which means it could not have been baking - we had no drinks yet the bill was high and the food mediocre - outdoor menu mostly fried foods
Fabulous everything! From the oysters to monk fish to the wine and then dessert. The service was attentive without being overwhelming. Lovely place for a delicious evening!
Jamestown Fish is always outstanding but our visit this weekend was even better than ever. From the moment you walk in the door, you get outstanding service although it was really chilly due to the air conditioning. Take a sweater. My husband started with the lobster bisque and for me the tuna poke. Dinner for him was the Monkfish and we both remarked it tasted like lobster. Prepared with creamed street corn and summer squash. Squid ink pasta with clams for me. Dessert was pistachio cake him and fig tart for me. The food was clearly gourmet level with tastes and combinations I had never had before. Wine selection is top notch and I really enjoyed my Priorat wine from Spain. Both servers were really good taking time to listen and advise.
Everything was wonderful, the A/C is a little cold, but they so have metal trays to block the vents. My wife and mother had the salmon and both agreed it was a little odd. However the sides were excellent. Wine list is very expansive and their sommeliere was excellent

We took friends/clients for a special dinner . It was our first time. Although it was very expensive, we felt that the food and service were outstanding.
We are local and visited Fish for the first time on my husband's birthday. The food was incredible and our server Josh was both both friendly and knowledgeable. We ate inside downstairs but would recommend checking out the incredible view at the upstairs bar. There is also a lovely patio section with its own menu and bar. We'll definitely be back!!

I visited Jamestown Fish as a solo diner, and the experience was delightful. The staff welcomed me warmly as a solo and engaged with me enthusiastically to discuss the chef's 5-course men, my preferences, and pairings from the by-the-glass menu. The food was delicious; each seafood dish I had was balanced with flavors, saltiness, and sweetness. The scallop and watermelon dish was particularly filling and rich with flavor. Service was knowledgable, friendly, and a perfect complement to the journey of the meal. I loved where they took me!

Unexpected surprise in Jamestown- nice atmosphere, very good food, skilled bartender. Would definitely return, looking forward to spending some time on the patio the next time I’m there.
Creative cuisine served very well by a fine staff. The wine list is excellent and the beer list is very extensive. A wonderful restaurant.
We were very surprised to be disappointed with this dining experience and I rarely write negative reviews. Waiter(Joshua?) was not up to the task. He was not able to cleanly introduce and describe the small but interesting menu, and instead, seemed defensive and uncomfortable with our basic questions. As such, it was an oddly uncomfortable ordering experience. No alternatives for lower carb dietary request and generally no description of accompaniments were provided. Seemingly, he was focused painfully on irrelevant ‘stuff’. The sea scallops were super quality but an inadequate sear and the light serving size missed our expectations. The chilled corn/squash flower(didn’t seem to be there), grilled watermelon salsa-like side looked beautiful on the dish but lacked flavor. The rest of the service was great, pleasant and capable. Burger and fries for my niece were great. Ribeye steak was cooked appropriately and to-order but was sliced incorrectly leaving it tougher than if carved appropriately. Simple stuff. Jeepers.
Flavor-able and attractive sauces for both the steak and salmon entrees and the mushrooms were spectacular.
Nice, attractive, crisp/clean setting. Somewhat noisy as windows and hard surfaces bounce all diners’ conversations everywhere. Sorry for the tough review. Not sure we’ll return.
Service and ambiance is consistently excellent. Somalier helped with great wine selections and the food was delicious.
Overall, a good experience, but not great. Service at times was very attentive and then might disappear. Very accommodating though. Took a while to get cocktails, but nicely done and good menu. The wine list is outstanding and the Sommelier very helpful. Apps were good...Tuna Poke and Lobster Bisque. None of the entrees were outstanding though the Monkfish stood out for one in our party. The Scallops, Lobster Risotto and Clams & Black Linguini were just ok. I would go back, but probably go to the outside deck area with the lighter fare.
We had the tasting menu and thought it was wonderful however overpriced. Although the food and wine were wonderful we would not do again due to the price of $170.00 per person.
