Our waiter, Ricardo was excellent - friendly and very competent. The food was delicious. I had macademia crusted tilapia, the others had chopped steak, shrimp de jonge and ribs. All reported that their dinners were delicious. We had the ice cream brick for dessert which was covered with I believe a chocolate caramel shell. Whatever it was, it was very good.
I have been to the restaurant before and it was pretty good in the past, but this time it was really outstanding.
If you are a small party, try to get a booth as the tables in the middle can have a lot of busy running back and forth around them.
A great place - close to my house and far above a lot of restaurants that charge more money.
Though busy, due to the theater next door, staff is very accommodating, and table service is excellent.
When the 2 theaters next door each have an event happening, the restaurant does not have enough staff to cover its increased business. They add more tables. Which probably means that the staff is stretched thin. More than one server said that he couldn't get to us sooner as he was very busy.
Seated as soon as arrived even tho early. Had Theatre tickets for 7pm. Waitstaff attentive and came to table quickly and drinks ordered. Waiter very patient and gave lots of time for menu selection. Macadamia Crusted Tilapia was excellent, and Liver ordered served as ordered. Portions were plentiful. Appeared somewhat busy and kids galore tho conversations at quiet mostly and kids were nonissue and well behave. Dessert menu adequate but this visit not ordered. Will go back again since we had a great time on next Theatre trip. Will bring friends to share experience.
I have been to Jameson's at least a dozen times and have never had a bad experience until this time. Our server was awful and the manager was rude. Had this been my first time going, I wouldn't have come back.
overall the food was expected. the service was really lacking this night. we were with my kids, as we have done before. waiter totally ignored my daughter for both drinks and dinner until I ordered for her. felt very rushed tonight. we were seated next to the kitchen, probably to be out of the way because of the kids, which is fine, but a staff verbal fight broke out and we listened to the whole thing. the manager was nice enough to give us free dessert which totally was not necessary, but I'm guessing other people would not be as ok with the swearing. overall the food was good, as always, but the service was really not as good as it has been in the past. maybe a busy/off night for them.
Overall, I was somewhat disappointed. I've been to Jameson's Charhouse many times, at a different location and was generally satisfied. The Skokie location however was a different story. My wife and I both ordered steak. She ordered a filet with Parmesan crust, I order a NY Strip, done medium rare. When the orders arrived, her filet was missing the Parmesan crust and my Strip was done medium, to medium well, not medium rare as ordered. When we brought this to the server's attention, he offered to redo both steaks and did so with my wife's order, which took only a couple of minutes. I declined however, because by the time they redid my steak, my side orders would have been cold.
In the end, they did comp us a desert, but it really didn't make up for the lack of attention to detail by the server, who should have realized that my wife's order was incorrect before serving it, and the kitchen for preparing both orders incorrectly in the first place.
Overall, it was an OK dining experience, but with so many restaurant choices, I don't think we'll be going back.
The room was fun, service was excellent and the food was wonderful!!
Excellent selection of entrees and wine. Perfect location if you’re attending a performance at the North Shore Center for Performing Arts.
I was with a group of friends who were attending a concert next door, so we thought it’d be fun to try Jamieson’s. We gave ourselves a 2 hour window to enjoy our dinner leisurely and boy did we need every minute of it. I can tell you that, in general, the food was decent, but our experience was terribly tainted by the service and overall chaos we experienced. To start with, they were out of the three cabs we requested from the menu. We had to choose between the house blend or a $110 bottle. Then one of our friends secretly ordered champagne to surprise the group and they were out of the one she requested, and the manager failed to follow her request for surprise. They took over 30 minutes just to take our drink order and we had to wait another 15 minutes after that for our food order. We were told our waiter was coming several times, then we ended up with the waiter who kept insisting ours was coming. In the end, we left with about 5 minutes to spare before the concert.
Still, after the concert, we thought that we could go back just to the bar section thinking we’d enjoy a better experience, but we were proven wrong again. The manager saw us sitting down in the bar section and he proceeded to berate the waiter who attended us for not closing the table (we got the impression they wanted to close the bar, but there were at least 30 other patrons there. They proceeded to argue and tried to keep their voices down. We ordered drinks and asked to get water first; after 3 requests, our water still didn’t come. Two of us ordered Irish coffee and it arrived luke warm without any of the usual Irish coffee compliments. We’d finally had enough and left.
We will not be back and we hope others with similar experiences also tell their story. There’s no excuse for poor management and chaotic service in a restaurant next to a major events Center.
Hotel Restaurant with above average food and good service. Can get crowded especially if there is an event at the theater next door. Parking is readily available so no need to tip a car jockey.
Excellent food and ambiance. Definitely will return soon an recommend to others.
The service was terrible and the food just okay. The restaurant is also very noisy.
It was great being at Jameson's in Skokie. The meal was excellent and so was the server and attentive. Me and my wife had a great time and enjoyed the meal that was prepared to what we asked for.
Food and service were excellent. Table placement was way too close. Had to literally squeeze between 2 people to exit our table location.
Only ate here because I was between shows next door at the NSPAC. Food is nothing special and service is just adequate.
This is a great place for anytime you want a great meal at a good price with excellent service.
We had a reservation. Arrived 5-10 minutes before our reservation time. We still waited about 10 minutes to be sat. We ordered Mia tia and sazarach. My Mia tia came in an inappropriately small glass with none of the fruit garnish. Because of that, it tasted like straight booze. I asked our waiter if it'd be possible to make a shrimp cocktail. He left to check and was gone for at least 15 minutes checking on tables beside us and running drinks. When he finally got back, he had forgotten to check. We ordered calamari and asked for more drinks. He took our glasses and returned a few minutes later to ask my husband the name of his drink. This Time, my Mia tia came in a pint glass with fruit. It was very good. I got a ribeye medium and my husband got a NY strip medium well. It came medium rare. Since our waiter didn't check back after food was delivered, I ultimately grabbed the waiter working in the next section. They put my husband's steak back on the grill until it was cooked how he ordered it. Been here before, and honestly expected a better experience. Kind of a let down.
Excellent food and wonderful service in a friendly environment immediately adjacent to a local live theatre.
Prefer other locations. Unfortunately this was our 2nd time having a bad experience with service at this location and we won’t go back.
The food is always good. We had great service. We will be back.
Food, as usual, was excellent! Can’t beat their Prime Rib. The service, however, was horrible. It was a busy night, but delays in taking our order and bringing the check were excessive and there was basically no apology. Will go again, but wouldn’t have that waiter again.
Was able to get reservation for Valentine's Day - and had never been there before. Service very attentive; nice menu choices and price ranges; food was good; tables were a little close together and felt crowded as dinner progressed. Would go back again.
Calamari was phenomenal and fresh The absolute best cocktail sauce I’ve ever had. The french onion soup was amazing with plenty of croutons and cheese for every bite. The prime rib special was deliciously tender and pefectly cooked. I will definitely return when in the area!
My parents and I stopped in on Saturday (2/10) for dinner at about 6:00. The food was fantastic, as always, but the service was a bit off this evening. Our server, Elizabeth, was a bit “too comfortable” in my opinion. She made some comments throughout the evening that truly surprised me. My mother noticed a pomegranate martini on the Jameson’s menu on OpenTable, so she opted to try that. Elizabeth’s response was “are you really going to do that to them on a Saturday night?” I understand she was trying to be funny, but it made my Mother feel like she should order something else. Elizabeth insinuated dirty martinis were easier to make. Well, then you should take the pomegranate martini off your menu. Another comment that struck me as odd was when we ordered the special (salmon), my mom requested to have mashed potatoes instead of the rice that was offered. Elizabeth’s response was “people don’t typically order potatoes with fish”. I am not sure if she was just trying to be funny, but she made it very awkward instead. Service was also a bit slow. It is possible Elizabeth was just having a tough night. I do love this restaurant, and I will definitely be back!
Great spot for a quick bite to eat or sit down family steak dinner.
Strongly recommended Crab cakes!
Our table seemed to be placed in the server's aisle with a lot of foot traffic around it!! Food and Wait Staff were both great!!
Tasty food, excellent service. Close to home. Ample parking. Not crowded. Very pleasant.
Great place for pre theater dining. Good food and good service.
The food was good, the service was fair. It is a convenient location when going to Northlight Theatre. We'll continue to go there before the theatre because it is conveniently located with plenty of parking.
All good ..great place for pre-theatre dining.
A favorite go to place that does not disappoint; thank you!
My wife ordered the London broil cooked medium and it came well done. The gravy was so salty I could have come from the Dead Sea. Management was very attentive and credited the entree but we couldn’t wait for a replacement meal.
We had a pork chop and chicken kabob. Both tasted liked they were cooked straight from the freezer. No more mashed sweet potato was a disappointment.
Our salad tasted unwashed and bitter.
Food was very good but the shrimp de jon was a little sweet. Maybe too much wine.
Prime Rib is excellent. My husbands favorite cream of chicken soup. Will continue to dine here regularly when looking for a nice meal out
Service was terrible,- I saw the bus boy more than I saw my server, Had to ask for more cold water, hot water- food was cold, they never checked back to see how our meal was, we were missing items, like salsa, sour cream, etc, and finally I had to ask a manager to get it.
They put down our check without clearing our dishes, never asked if we wanted coffee or dessert
Great place to enjoy good food b/4 the theater
Hostess and managers on duty were very warm and cheerful!! Server did not seem thrilled to be working Christmas day.
good food at reasonable prices...rare find these days
