Great before Northlight theatre
Sunday 2pm seated immediately restaurant was empty. Convenient location attached to hotel, ample parking. Always good food & service. Casual dining, enjoyable experience.
Thanksgiving dinner is not a typical day to judge a restaurant but we enjoyed it very much . My wife had a small filet which was excellent and I had the turkey dinner special. Mostly, it was very good, but I've had better stuffing. Bottom line: we've been to far less enjoyable restaurants on holidays.
great food, great service. What more can you ask for?
As always, the food was delicious and an excellent value. I had the harvest salad and the butternut squash soup. It was superb. My main was a Jameson's Burger. It was perfect and I took most of it and the steak fries home for breakfast the next day.
I was surprised by the waitress. We usually have a waiter who treats us like royalty, but our waitress on Saturday actually seemed to mind our presence when we didn't order mixed drinks. I had to beg for water frequently (more than twice). She slammed the checks down before we were finished eating, I guess to move us along. We will return to Jameson's and hopefully it will be another server when we eat at Jameson's again.
This was a our first visit to Jameson's on the recommendation of friends. It was a birthday celebration and it was lovely in every way. Food and service excellent! We will definitely return.
Actually, I was mischarged. Waiter assumed tip and allowed me to tip twice. When I went back, he immediately knew he had and offered the change. Unsure why he allowed it in first place. Buyer beware!
Very few restaurants offer liver on their menu, but Jameson's liver was delicious and plentiful. There were many other items on the menu that I could have chosen. With great service and food, I will definitely return to this restaurant.
We can always count on a good meal at a reasonable price (for a steak house) at Jamison's but this time was exceptionally great. Everything we ordered was flawlessly prepared, appropriately spaced. We ended up taking home enough for dinner the following night a well.
Jameson’s delivers a consistently wonderful experience every time! The quality of the steaks is on a par with some of the finest steak houses in the Chicago area...and don’t leave without ordering the gold brick cake for dessert!
Wonderful food, waiter was very nice, bus boys/girls extremely fast and active were sincerely greeting when we arrived and told goodbye and thank you when we left. Too pricey to go often for myself but I would definitely return and recommend this restaurant.
Sunday night dinner at 6:30. Tried to go on sweetest day but too crowded. Tonight it was slow. Reservations made with Open Table. Restaurant connected to Double Tree hotel. Next to Skokie Theater. Immediately seated. Nice full bar. Beer selection ok but for a restaurant connected to a hotel, thought they might offer more. Liquor selection on menu seemed fine, viewed by my fiance. But with full bar they probably could accommodate any requests. Started with loaded potatoes, I wasn't a fan, neither was my fiance. Maybe 10 minutes passed before we were served. Thought that was quick. Skin very crisp, bacon tucked into the middle of potato. I had the filet mignon, fiance the shrimp linguine. Meals served with soup or salad. Fiance had chicken noodle. Not bad, just regular. Salad not served with croutons. Vinaigrette was good! She enjoyed the linguine. I asked for medium rare for the steak, got a slight step below. Still purple red in center. I didn't mind but others may. Good piece of beef. I dont know, I thought I would like this place more. Nothing to write home about. I can find more for the same price. Menu offering fine, appetiser offering fine as well. This place just was underwhelming for some reason.
We had a reservation for 5 people.. Apparently they don't have booth accomodations for five people because they sat us at a large round table near the kitchen and in the way of all the waitstaff and clientele'--and worst was our table was close to a larger table smack in the middle of the restaurant and a customer was complaining to us that they could not get around our table!!???
I was really upset by this because we were celebrating my mothers birthday!
Had a 6:00 confirmed reservation for a booth, checked in at 5:55 & did not get seated untill 6:20 after asking 3 times about the delay, also sat arable in an aisle not in a booth disappointing.
Great Food and Service
Good overall value and convenient
Way too expensive for mediocre food (salad, soup, and 2 entrees were all... meh). Was very convenient since we were going to the theater next door though. However, would not go back again.
100% excellent! Ambience, service, value all great! Food was fantastic! New England clam chowder and French onion soup couldn’t be better. Chopped salad perfect. Filet delicious and done perfectly. Shrimp de Jonghe amazing! Everything clicked. Haven’t been to Jameson for years, now will be coming back for more!
Consistently good food and good service. Reliable go-to place for pre or post theatre or for celebrations. Convenient location and great parking.
My husband ordered steak fries with his entree, didn’t get it , however received a baked potato 10 min after entree was delivered. Restaurant needs to pay attention to orders, i understand another waiter took the potato, that’s fine , but the 10 min wait and wrong potato order. This was done in bad taste. A complimentary desert should of been issued, for this mistake, and misunderstanding.
The Greek Halibut was very good. Despite it being a busy night, our waiter, Tyler was efficient and friendly. He went out of his way to accommodate a developmentally disabled gentleman at the next table while still having time to give great service!
It was extremely busy with pre-theater diners. Staff seemed rushed, though food was very good.
Very hectic. Overwhelmed by the crowd.
Very disappointed since the last time we were there. Food was cold. Baked onion soup left a lot to be desired.
Nice menu, but steaks are just B+. Very pleasant service.
We've been to this restaurant many times in the past after plays at the theater next door. In the past it was a good value and the food was good. We won't be returning to this restaurant anymore. We sat at the table for ten minutes (no water, no bread, no nothing, with managers and multiple servers walking by) before WE had to ask if there was a server for our table. It turned out the server for our station was late so the young man we asked waited on our table and was very good. The food was mediocre to poor and the prices have increased drastically. It is not a value anymore and (aside from our server) the staff borders on unfriendly from the hostess to the people clearing the tables. I would not recommend this restaurant.
Wec went for late night dinner. Service was very prompt and friendly and the burgers were quite good.
The food was good and the service was outstanding. We were seated quickly and out orders were taken guickly.
Although this is close to the theatre, they are not adequately staffed to handle the theatre crowd. Took awhile to for a waitress to come to the table for our order; soup came cold; two identical "medium rate" flank steaks came medium rare and way overdone; bread and butter didn't arrive until we asked multiple times; chopped salad was not chopped, was more like a chef salad; by the time we finally got our food we had to gulp and run to make the show. Allow at least two hours before show time for dinner here or eat elsewhere. Very disappointing
Good service, convenient to theater but food was very bland.
Dinner was before performance at North Shore Centre for Performing Arts. It is next door and very convenient, especially in bad weather. Would suggest making reservations far enough in advance to get your desired time. Food and service was excellent. We had the red snapper special and the French fried shrimp, which came with soup and salad. Would recommend both entrees. Noise level was a little loud but not enough to hinder conversation. Next time we are in the area for performance or another reason, we would eat here again.
Always consistent and very good food and good service
Great food. Slow service. Loud in the room. Too expensive.
It seems OpenTable equates high noise level with a positive "energetic". However, because of the acoustics of the restaurant, the noise level is EAR SHATTERING and impossible to have a decent conversation when dining with others. The waiter also had a difficult time hearing to take our order.
Aside from this, the food is very good, and service was fine. Unless you found some way to dampen the sound a bit, I would not return here.
Food was good. Service was off.
I have been to this restaurant many times and was really happy with the food. Now, after a terrible meal, I doubt I will ever return. We were four friends and only the soup was decent.
Restaurant wasn’t busy yet our food was sent out like an express train. We barely put our soup spoon down and the salad was placed in front of us. We weren’t even finished with the salad when the entree was served. Our waiter immediately started asking about dessert and gave us the menu. We said we would let him know and he kept coming back asking if we had made a decision, we finally said give us our bill. We paid it and left. The restaurant wasn’t crowded plenty of empty tables so there was no need for this type of service.
I haven't been to this one before, it was a little Quite for a Saturday night. The steak was great 16oz Ribeye, soup, salad All so good. My friend had the Filet, she said it was really good. Great value for all you get. A little big of room left of some desert, I will be back. Service was excellent.
Service needs a SERIOUS upgrade here, as does the menu. To say that service is hit or miss is an understatement. In recent months, service has been more miss than hit. The menu is another story. Steaks are mediocre at best, often tough and sinewy. Salads are pedestrian. Soups are fine but basic. The worst part of the menu is the Specials. Same old fish week after week after week. And the appetizer special? Surprise (no surprise!) it's mussels. Every. Darn. Time.
Jameson's is long overdue for an overhaul. It's a neighborhood favorite for us, or it was, but it's nearing the end of its 9 Lives.
We used to love this place but this time we ordered medium well steaks and we got a steak floating in blood. Sent it back and after a long wait got it back medium at best. Manager took off ten bucks but the evening was spoiled. We live close by and used to really like it but we won’t be returning for awhile.
