Jameson's Charhouse - Skokie
For more than 20 years, Jameson's Charhouse has served quality steaks, chops, and fresh fish, for exceptional value. Our extensive menu selections feature a modern American cuisine full of delicious choices.
Very disappointed since the last time we were there. Food was cold. Baked onion soup left a lot to be desired.
Nice menu, but steaks are just B+. Very pleasant service.
We've been to this restaurant many times in the past after plays at the theater next door. In the past it was a good value and the food was good. We won't be returning to this restaurant anymore. We sat at the table for ten minutes (no water, no bread, no nothing, with managers and multiple servers walking by) before WE had to ask if there was a server for our table. It turned out the server for our station was late so the young man we asked waited on our table and was very good. The food was mediocre to poor and the prices have increased drastically. It is not a value anymore and (aside from our server) the staff borders on unfriendly from the hostess to the people clearing the tables. I would not recommend this restaurant.
Wec went for late night dinner. Service was very prompt and friendly and the burgers were quite good.
The food was good and the service was outstanding. We were seated quickly and out orders were taken guickly.
Although this is close to the theatre, they are not adequately staffed to handle the theatre crowd. Took awhile to for a waitress to come to the table for our order; soup came cold; two identical "medium rate" flank steaks came medium rare and way overdone; bread and butter didn't arrive until we asked multiple times; chopped salad was not chopped, was more like a chef salad; by the time we finally got our food we had to gulp and run to make the show. Allow at least two hours before show time for dinner here or eat elsewhere. Very disappointing
Good service, convenient to theater but food was very bland.
Dinner was before performance at North Shore Centre for Performing Arts. It is next door and very convenient, especially in bad weather. Would suggest making reservations far enough in advance to get your desired time. Food and service was excellent. We had the red snapper special and the French fried shrimp, which came with soup and salad. Would recommend both entrees. Noise level was a little loud but not enough to hinder conversation. Next time we are in the area for performance or another reason, we would eat here again.
Always consistent and very good food and good service
Great food. Slow service. Loud in the room. Too expensive.
It seems OpenTable equates high noise level with a positive "energetic". However, because of the acoustics of the restaurant, the noise level is EAR SHATTERING and impossible to have a decent conversation when dining with others. The waiter also had a difficult time hearing to take our order.
Aside from this, the food is very good, and service was fine. Unless you found some way to dampen the sound a bit, I would not return here.
Food was good. Service was off.
I have been to this restaurant many times and was really happy with the food. Now, after a terrible meal, I doubt I will ever return. We were four friends and only the soup was decent.
Restaurant wasn’t busy yet our food was sent out like an express train. We barely put our soup spoon down and the salad was placed in front of us. We weren’t even finished with the salad when the entree was served. Our waiter immediately started asking about dessert and gave us the menu. We said we would let him know and he kept coming back asking if we had made a decision, we finally said give us our bill. We paid it and left. The restaurant wasn’t crowded plenty of empty tables so there was no need for this type of service.
I haven't been to this one before, it was a little Quite for a Saturday night. The steak was great 16oz Ribeye, soup, salad All so good. My friend had the Filet, she said it was really good. Great value for all you get. A little big of room left of some desert, I will be back. Service was excellent.
We used to love this place but this time we ordered medium well steaks and we got a steak floating in blood. Sent it back and after a long wait got it back medium at best. Manager took off ten bucks but the evening was spoiled. We live close by and used to really like it but we won’t be returning for awhile.
The menu choices are wide. Portions very generous, including soup and salad w/ entrees. Everything was delicious! Service was excellent. The noise level is very loud.
Always a great dining experience.
The cosmopolitan was excellent. The petite filet and garlic mashed potatoes were delicious. Emily, our server, was attentive and anxious to make our dining experience enjoyable.
Took our friends to Jameson's for a celebration dinner. It was their first experience and they loved it. It is STILL our go-to restaurant for that special night out.
We dined at Jameson’s to celebrate a birthday! The food was outstanding as always. We enjoyed our drinks as well. I was a bit disappointed in the service. Was surprised our waiter didn’t ask if we wanted more bread or drinks. They never refilled our water glasses.
But we ended the evening on a positive note by ordering desserts.
Had a reservation at Jameson’s before a performance next door. The food was delicious and portions were very generous. However, the service was awful. Dylan, our serve, was stretched so thin that he kept forgetting us. Finally I told him we were in a rush and he finally became more attentive. Had to ask a manager to get him to our table. If you’re anticipating a pre-theatre rush, please staff appropriately.
Food good. Service fast. Location great next to the theatre.
Pluses: Friendly, helpful service and there is a nice menu selection. Minuses: The food itself is only meh; dry, over-cooked chicken and tough prime rib.
My friend and I each had an onion soup. We're both fussy about it, and we agree it was the best onion soup either of us have ever had. We shared a rack of lamb and it was done perfectly. I like meat done rare. Most restaurants overcook it. We are planning a return trip. The finishing touch was provided by our waiter, Shane. He's personable and attentive. Even though he's younger than my youngest grandchild, I fell a little bit in love with him.
Good food. H O R R I B L E service!!! Went in for a quick lunch ended up being there for 2 hours.
Our server was unprofessional, and did not provide his name. Our first interaction with him was him passing by and saying "ill be right back" when he came back he just said what can i get you to drink... no hello or introduction. food came back lukewarm, burger was extremely greasy. i don't know how its possible for it to be so greasy. server never offered a refill on drinks and we never got any water. the people behind us were complaining about service too. manager came up to use to ask how everything was, we said ok and can we please have ketchup, he never came back and i guess forgot. the menu items look very good, but the service and quality of food did not match up. absolutely will not be returning.
The food and the service was outstanding. Thank you.
Fantastic food and service! A little pricey but worth the money!! Definitely will go back soon!
The value was excellent. The food portions were generous. However, the noise level was too high for me to have a comfortable conversation.
Great family get together
Good post theatre dining option.
Warm bread was wonderful. Salads were very good too.
The food was awful. I am not sure how they did it, but they seem to have extracted the flavor from everything. No taste at all. Service was terrible as well, and it was not even crowded. We will not return, and I suggest you don't waste your money on bland, tasteless food.
OK. That’s it
Food was excellent and server was exceptional. Would return again in a heartbeat.
The restaurant was empty when we arrived. We were seated right away. It took our server a long time to get to our table. The service was slow the remainder of the meal. The food was ok. Calamari was soggy and the salad had brown lettuce in it. For a restaurant to b so empty we thought we would have at least gotten good service. We probably will not be back.
Waiter took forever, could be because he was like 80 years old. Drinks took forever, meals took forever and were over cooked. Probably sitting under hot lamps. Not going back and neither is anyone of our big party. Sorry, used to be good.
The food and drinks were all fine. But despite telling our server twice that we had a little time crunch to get to the theater, the service was impossibly slow and one of our group actually wound up having to take some of his dinner with him because he didn’t have time to finish it.
